I think you're on to something Aaron, The PO box # he just sent is different than the first one he sent.  I think he's snowing us!!!  I think he's secretly out to set the record for most model kits started and never finished. Wink [;)]

Roy - I was in a painting mood this morning, I also sprayed another coat of paint on the Big Fiesler Storch. To keep myself from decorating it with thumbprints I got a Hairy Stick and painted the lines on the P-40N canopy. I am not going to tempt fate with a second coat though as I surprised myself by only painting the frame.

Canopy I ordered and recieved an 1/72 Academy P-40M/N to keep this one company. Wink [;)]

I would like to add my early Tiger I with transport wheels and treads, on a SSyms railcar. It has been sitting for 2 & 1/2 years. Definatly a shelf queen.

Thank you Azgaron I was almost afraid to try painting it with a "Hairy Stick" - but the frame work was too fine to try and cut mask out of Frisket Film. The canopy actually sits down tighter. I had just set on to tease Roy Wink [;)] It is now cemented on to where there is no gaps under it .

Roy how are your P-40's coming along ? DId you get any of that wash from Sprue Bros yet ?  I am really wanting to see how well that stuff works.

Dave - That plane does not really belong here. I was searching through my Decals for Roy also and found those skull markings. I was so impressed by them  Approve [^]Wow!! [wow] I dug out an old HawseG kit to build. Its all Roy's  fault, since them I have picked up several more kits as I want to build a small squadron of like planes.

Ok, here's an update on my Messerschmitt ME 163B. Finished the paint scheme and applied the Future coat. Used acrylics for the camo and enamel for the blue. Made the power windmill out of a bit of stretched sprue. This build is almost finished, just a matter of gluing in the winshield, decals, and a wash. (almost forgot I still have to paint the rear wheel.) Will probably have it finished by tommorrow.

All comments, suggestions, and questions welcome.Smile [:)]

OK guys, I hate to say this but I'm about ready to give up on the P-40.  Try as I may I can not get the wash to work in the panel linesBanged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]  It will run a bit then I have to help it along.  I let it sit for 15 mins and wiped it away with a q-tip with thinner.  I even bloted the tip but it still removed the wash from the panel lines.  I went thru alot of q-tips.  All I have to show for my Banged Head [banghead] is an aircraft with half of the top panel lines highlighted.  For the life of me I do not know what I'm doing wrong.  I wiped away very slowly trying to remove only the suface wash and still no luckBanged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]

Roy - you need to quit banging your head like that. Why do you need a wash on this P-40 anyway ? I thought it looked Fantastic as it is, the red bird head is waaay coool .

Dont get yourself in the rut I did back in the early 1990's. I was building autos and I subscribed to Scale Auto Mag (worst mistake I ever made ) I all of a sudden felt no pride with my builds compares to the resin /PE detailed shelf Queens.  I started ordering detail parts by the pounds Black Eye [B)] It got to where I was spending just a month at the bench building and super detailing the engine. I started to hate modeling, I could not even stand the sight of my work area. This was suppose to be fun and relaxing. I boxed everything up and put it away for several years.  Fast forward a few years my neighbor had a Kenworth kit he wanted built and painted like his first truck. I told him I would build as it came from the box. It turned out nice with a smooth shiny flawless paint - and I actually enjoyed building it. I started messing with Armor kits then aircraft again. All of them straight from the box - no extras.

I see some really perfect builds shown here that should be put in museums. But I have come to the fact I cant Model like Frank (for example), and enjoy myself . My builds are pretty sub~par but I have a good relaxing time building them.

I am not saying this may be your rut - just letting you know where I stand. If that Red Parrot was mine , she would be Proudly sitting on the Shelf waiting for company.

PS I still can hardly bring myself to build an Auto anymore.Whistling [:-^]

I just wanted to hightlight the panel lines.  Nothing extra.  I will not give up, perhaps I need to do a line at a time.  Thanks for the pep talk buddy.

No need for new glasses, I'll admit the pics came out a bit blurry. But long story short my batteries were gonna go dead, so I quickly took a few. But I promise the finished pics will much better when I upload them later this week.Cool [8D]

mg, thats cool.  I think the Me163 was a very cool aircraft.  Think of what kind of person you had to be to fly something like that.

Roy - I think it's time I get in on this one...just passed the one year mark on one of the builds on my shelf, and feel like a complete loser. Sad [:(]

Would also like to enter some builds that I've got started for GB's that have come and gone - they haven't hit "year" status yet, but I need to get them done nonetheless!

Currently my entries would be:
1/35 Tamiya King Tiger - started November 2007. Yikes.
1/48 Academy P-47D Bubbletop
1/48 Eduard La-7

And I have a feeling that there may be one or two more that get added to the list here shortly as the GB's I'm building them for expire! Whistling [:-^]

Well I hope this qualifies. The kit was started 5 years ago. (True Procrastination Tongue [:P] )

Here is where I am. First off it is 1/35th scale. The railcar is an Ironside Typ. SSyms Plattformwagen. It is almost finished. Have to glue on a few small parts, paint, weather and decals.

The tank is a Tiger I early (Kursk time frame). It is the Tamiya Tiger I Mid version. Here are the goodies

Tiger Models - Tiger I Early Asymmetrical Turret

Tiger Models - Mantlet

Jordi Rubio - Barrel

Model Kasten - Transport wheels

Model Kasten - Early Tiger I conversion Kit

Model Kasten - Combat Track

The Tank Workshop - Tiger Rear Engine Deck

Fruilmodel - Transport Track

Kit is about 80% finished.

If this meets standards than I will post pictures.

Mark
