Bondo somehow everything you just said makes sense after I read it about five times! I do plan on going to Bournemouth next summer. I have always wanted to visit England and after getting to know Guy and what a charector he is I beleive it will be a great trip. Especially if Guy tells all of the ladies I am Scott Baio!

Jeremy looks like you have been hard at work young man. You are makeing some good progress. I told you that you would enjoy building with us. You are one of the family already and I am amazed how perfectly you have fit right in with the rest of us so quickly. It is a pleasure to have you with us.

Guy everything is boxed up and ready to be sent out on Monday. I do not know how long it will take to actually get to you though. Do not worry about it. You have earned it by being a great freind.

Tony was played by Al Pacino, who also played Michael, and looks like Soulcrusher, who looks like Scott Baio, who dated Pamela Anderson, who would like to go to Bournemouth so there's obviously a connection there.

Guy do not fret. I have all four DVD's sitting right here so that you can enjoy them and enrich yourself in the Italian culture that you have been deprived of. Unfortunatly "say hello to my little freind" was Tony Montana in Scarface and he was Cuban. I have that one also if you would like it. I am sending you The Godfather part 1 and 2. Each one is very long and requires two DVD's I do not think you will have a problem watching them because these are DVD's that I formated myself on my computor and then burn them myself so I am confident they will work. I did not bother sending you part 3 because it really was not that good and should have not even been made because it only takes away from how good the first two movies are. I will sent them out on Monday.

Do,nt worry Bondo we will have him say things like "foget about it" and "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse" real soon.

Jeremy that sounds like a good plan to fix that brittle plastic. Anything that drys good and hard should fix it. mabye even a thin layer of cyano glue would stop the peeling.

Thats due to the fact that i have absolutely no Italian in me at all! Theres a fair few Italian girls who'd have a bit of Bournemouth in em (If i had my way). I have plenty of Moron in me, but alas no Italian.

Hows the build going Bill?

Jeremy, whats the deal? You give me no notice to come to dinner. Geez i didnt even have time to get my swimming trunks on. Damn bad show...But not as bad as over on that 'War in the Pacific' GB, they were showing me thier belly button fluff. Strange, but true.

I think if the area on your tail is smallish, your plan with the filler sprayed thickly is a goodun. If you have it, spray it with Mr surfacer 500 as that is a putty of sorts and sets pretty hard, making it easier to rescribe panel lines etc. Good luck anyhoo, and post us a piccy of this little dissaster area. As for my 1st child being a masculine one. I have no children...well none im owning up to. Whistling [:-^]

Thanks for the help everyone! It's chicken saltimbocca for dinner tonight! The table leaves are out and you all have a plate! Thumbs Up [tup]

Mr. Bondo... nice ref! Being one of the younger(?) members of "the family" here, I was a little disappointed in Guy's lack of Godfather experience.

I looked up to you man! [sniffle]

I think a new tail would have been too drastic. The area affected was small 1/2" x 1/4" or so (sorry Guy, I don't know the conversion Big Smile [:D]) only because I caught it early and it only ended up that size because I played with it a little. I ended up lightly smearing some more Ambroid (liquid cement) over it until it blended a little. I then wet sanded with 800 grit. There are still some low spots and digs but I'm not going to mess with it anymore. Maybe come primer time I'll lay it on thick in that spot and wet sand with some 1200.

Thanks again... and may your first child be a masculine one. Bow [bow]

BTW - I'm going to post the problem in the aircraft forum anyway to see if anyone has run across this.

Check the format on those DVD's as not all US and European systems are compatible, the European ones have a label on the back to let you know if it plays in the US but that does not exist on the US labels. Just a heads up fellas

He knows it was you Guy. He also knows I know exactly what scene he was talking about in the movie The Godfather when they were in the kitchen of the house and the crew was playing card and the one mobster was explaining to Mikey how he should learn how to cook for 20 people because sometimes in the mob you had to hide out for a while and somebody had to feed all of thoses big hungry Italian mobsters. He was asking me to bear with him because he was explaining something I already knew. I guess we have to send you the DVD of the Godfather. Part I and Part II. Great Movie. I will have to assign you some homework now Guy for not knowing the movie! Let see I will come up with something.

Yes, and despite what you might hear, all three are essential. I treated myself to a batch of Humbrol paint tins for my Birthday, for this build. I've also figgered out what I think will be a clever way to do the cammie.

I'm not sure how much I drank, but driving was involved so it was a controlled situation. I don't EVER want to get popped for that one! Ahh, but dessert! A giant wedge of lemon meringue pie, most excellent!

Your Man-card is revoked, Mister!Sigh [sigh]Laugh [(-D]Crusher, bear with me here....it's the scene in the Godfather where the Families declare all-out war on each other, and they put their "soldiers" up dormitory style in one place so that they're available instantly for any action. That's Clemenza's recipe for spaghetti sauce, by the way. My point to Jeremy was- dramatic circumstances require dramatic action.

My Birthday was swell, thank you and thank you all for the nice "cards". I did not go to trivia night at the local, but several good lobster rolls later, washed down with a fair measure of amber ale, set the world to rights. Cheers!Make a Toast [#toast]

Jeremy, if I were you I'd go to the matresses.

You aren't going to win this by wallpaper. Gonna take a new tail. And stop sanding the rest of that part because it's probably a problem all over.

If you can, take an impression in plaster of paris of whats left of that section of the tail and cast a new one. This can be done with epoxy.Or, more plaster of paris but I'm guessing it's a thin part.

"Heh, come over here, kid, learn something. You never know, you might have to cook for 20 guys someday. You see, you start out with a little bit of oil. Then you fry some garlic. Then you throw in some tomatoes, tomato paste, you fry it; ya make sure it doesn't stick. You get it to a boil; you shove in all your sausage and your meatballs; heh…? And a little bit o' wine. An' a little bit o' sugar, and that's my trick."

As much as I would love another meatball sandwich I have never encountered a problem like this Jeremy. Mabye try brushing on a coat of Future to try and hold it together. From what I am understanding the platic is flaking of in sheets? Really weird. I will post some pics of the tail bracing for you tomorrow so you can see how it was really done.

Looking for some more help from you knowledgable folks. This Trumpeter kit is a real pain in my behind... just plain hates me I reckon.

The plastic on the tail is peeling off in thin sheets. Angry [:(!] The more I sand it, the worse it gets. I tried to brush on some Ambroid hoping it would smooth it out but it just eats through the very thin layers. I'm going to try and put some putty over it but I'm afraid it will start peeling once I start sanding.

Anyone ever run into this problem? Seems very strange to me. Sigh [sigh]

I figured that I would try here first. If that doesn't work, I'll post in the aircraft section.

I'm willing to part with a meatball sandwich for any help received. Big Smile [:D]

Thanks in advance! Thumbs Up [tup]

Sorry to hear about your health problems, SC. Like Guy said, hopefully it's something that can be overcome... somehow someway.

 soulcrusher wrote:

Just a thought as I do not know what type of reference pics you have but there are some support wires on the tail tha might be easier to drill out now and then fit after painting. A nice touch that would really bring your build up a notch.

The kit has some braces for the tail shown in the insruction pic.

Just did a quick search and it looks like the braces were on the bottom of the horizontal tail and support wires on top.? I will follow up and fix accordingly.

As for the torpedos... the info I have for the paint scheme I'm doing doesn't mention the plane being a torpedo bomber.

"SM 79 of 18a Squadriglia, 27° Gruppo, 8° Stormo in North-Africa during year 1941. The Squadron reached Africa early in April 1941, staying fully operational until the repatriation on the next month of December. In this period, the 8° Stormo was the only operational bomber unit equipped with SM 79 on the North-African front."

I don't know if this means that it ever carried torpedoes or if my kit can even be used as a regular bomber. I would like to sling a torpedo underneath. What are your thoughts?

Guy - here's some pics of the helo just for you. Keep in mind that it's far from finished. So far lots of resin, scratchbuilding, and a complete rescribe have brought it up to snuff. Glad you like it! I'll share more when she's finished.

Big Smile [:D]
