Guy, the Bondo method, which works in 1/72, is that about 3-4 years ago I went to the paint store and spent $ 15 on the highest quality house painting brush I could find, with nylon bristles. They're all about 4" long, and come in black and clear, and there are millions of them. I've nibbled off maybe 10% of them over time. Then I cut to length, glue in and as we say,
"Mamma, aiuto". The Gabbi is second in line behind this big ugly PBY that got it's red lowers and wingtips sprayed on last evening, now I have to go back and touch up the white where the red ran in the recessed panel lines. Black accents, decals, final assembly, I'll be done! And then on to the very fine CANT Z 501. I mentioned that I recently picked up a SM 79 torpedo bomber with a big fat example of same under it. She's already contributed three mg's to the Gabbi, waist guns that won't be missed on the Sparviero since it's sitting on the ground anygohows- they would be stowed. That one'll be boring, easy scheme of green over black.
Yup, that Stuka looks messed up. Kind of reminds me of the radio host who was seeking publicity and claimed skinheads beat him up in an airport restroom and drew a Swast. on his forehead- only problem was that it was a mirror image! Those lines are Fasces, basically a bundle of rods with axes, and the axehead should face the wing tip and hook "up" towards the nose in all cases. The astute student will find similar symbols in our architecture, particularly in court houses. It goes back to Rome, and the axe confers the power of capital punishment. Indeed, it appeared on the reverse of the US Mercury dime from 1916-1945.
