Dave, Aaron and Frank always get the girl....Sigh [sigh]

I've been away from home more than at home the last three weeks. That;s my story and I'm sticking too it. I have cut and sanded a few cockpit pieces on my C.202 but that's about it. Ugh.

POssibly this weekend I will rediscover the fine art of modeling.

Nice work Guy, those panel lines look amazing.  I'll have to give that Tamiya scriber a try.  Nice finger print on that one insert though.  Ya ya, it's my fault.  Wink [;)]

Been busy working on the Cor... (sorry Sean, almost said the dreaded 'C' word) for the NAW GB but took a bit of a break last night to watch a movie on the tely.  Classic 80's Teen flick.  Really took my back to the old days.  Some of you may remeber this...

Man, some memories fade with time but this one just keeps getting better and better!!! Tongue [:P]Propeller [8-]Tongue [:P]

Me again, Kiddy winks. Heres where im at with the Cant 506,

Ive removed the raised panel lines with my trusty Micro chisell (They rock BTW),

the micro chisell gets it close but i give it a sand down after. Then its on with the dymo tape and the trust tamiya scriber,

that was todays efforts. The wings are done, so are the engine cowls,

i also finished off the floats ready for some alluminium paint,

I also fiited and separated the ailerons,

I also fitted the inserts in the fuselage for the 'S' varient (No guns on the rescue plane),

I havent attacked the cockpit yet as the destructions are so vague on the PE that i ordered an Italian book on the 506 to give me a bit more of a clue (Fat chance) LOL

Anyhoo, thats what ive been up to today, and with a stinking cold LOL.

Hey all, seems a bit quiet around hereabouts. Im off today but have a wrotten cold, Booo. ope fully ill get the inclination to finish rescribing the wings of the 506s, but you know how it is.

I found this beauty on Evil bay and could resist. It comes with a resin engine and other doodads. Should be a laugh.

Well it's of course all Dave's fault, but after the last Aaron post we all had to take the day off, and draw the blinds....

That kit looks like a real adventure. Here's a review:

Of course it's from the biplane people, who all have bugs in their teeth, LOL!

There's very funny bit in there about the "special edition" markings, which you probably don't have, where the decal makers couldn't make out all of the letters in a big slogan along the fuselage, on account of a float in the piccy or some such, sooo...for that part of the word there's a series of "_" !!

That is a superb tip on the CA repair to the chin Troy.  Thanks for sharing it, and the photos to show how you did it- much appreciated!

Troy, that was a really great fix and it came out great. Great skills my friend. One question on the chin repairs though. How did you keep the CA from being glued to the PE part. Did I missunderstand how you did that.

Steve

Good question, I wondered that too. But my PE has never stayed stuck with CA....Blush [:I]

I had a theory that luckily for me, worked. That is that the PE metal was so smooth it offered no ground for the CA to stick to, no surface texture for the CA to grab. This thought and the knowledge that CA has no sheer strength lent me the nads to give it a go. I'll have to admit saying as I started to peel the metal away to saying, "Here goes nothing". But as I rolled, not pulled, away the metal it was imediately aparent that all was well and it left a nice ring of CA right where I wanted it. Something I'll have to try and remember again in five years when I may need to do it again.

Made a little progress. In this update I tackled the broken nose.

I lined the inlet with a cut piece of PE fret to serve as a backbone for the CA. Next I filled the missing area with medium CA and let it set up. This took a couple of applications.

Once the CA had set up I carefully peeled away the PE fret which left the formed CA. Some work with the sanding sticks and the area was repaired. Did you know that very, very thin CA is flexible? The area is very delicate and I hope it survives the rest of the build.

I used styrene strip to repair the broken cooling fins on the nose. These were trimmed to shape after the CA set up. They are a bit thicker than the resin but it's going to have to do.

Tonight I'm in the process of cleaning up and fitting the cabane struts. I'm using bits of wire at the attaching points to allow for movement for alignment once it's time for everything to go together. Hope it works. All for now.

Arrrg! Pirate [oX)] Got wind of it I have!  I kinda have a soft spot for Corsairs lately so it's fine by me. LOL!  Looks Great Dave.

No joy on the Decals yet Guy. Dern Canadian proprieters!  I think they got it out for me!  I'll give it to tomorrow and see if I can contact him again.

HK I don't know if I mentioned it yet but I am really watching your build and using it as a ref for the old Smer kit which has zilch for details. Especially on the pit. Watching your fine work is helping me immensly!

The only thing that has me confused is this?
