Nice work Summit, I think if the only sweats you get are an ill fitting door. Youve done ecceptionally well. Looking good though big boy. Nice work on the tail. Do you use Mr Surfacer? That stuff is great for filling small gaps like that in your tail.

Well sprue has been broken and progress is sluggish.  First up meet the crew, a rather different bunch. So far I have not came up with Names for the fellows.

CrewI took the razor saw to the one in the fetal position and sliced a gap from his boots to his Censored [censored] ! I feel bad for the one with no legs, I was spying another figure to cut in half for a leg donar . But then what would I do with half a torso then.

The door was separate and the fit was not so keen. That is a piece of scrap styrene tacked in place with white glue to keep the door from falling through. Hopefully some Gap filling CA will take care of the air gaps.

Door

And the tail sections were separate , I used a piece of stretched sprue to fill the void. With a little more sanding and some Mr. Surfacer the seam should be hidden.

Tail sectionThat is all I have for now. So far No Colorful Language yet !

I Didnt say, Summit, those destructions only cement what i was saying. I have the feeling there may be some swearing when sprue is broken on that sucker. That camo is amazing. It must have taken an age to paint each plane.

Steve, what lovely delicate hands you have. Do you do needlecraft as well as modelling?#

Well no work on the model for today. Busy running around doing chores etc. My daughter turns 21 tomorrow so I had some last minute details to attend to. We are both die hard Steeler fans so tomorrow is going to be a big day. This is the only thing I did on the bench tonight.

No laughing now. At least I was doing some painting

If it is supposed to be canted to the right like that, then I am really glad I didnt correct it :)

Funny thing related to decals. I stopped in a shop near Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario. The place is called Aviation World. I was going through their bin of discount decal sheets and I found a large sheet of RA decals for 1/72 109's. I ended up picking it up, inside there are markings to do a ton of different planes. Not just 109's either. There are a couple different Macchi's in there too.

I now plan to do the G4 in 1/72 scale :)

The best part was I picked up the sheet of decals for $2 canadian. w00t!

Aaron- LOL!  Yep, some pretty famous cellmates we have.  Like you said, no where NEAR the sinister rap that Bondo has earned.  About the RA G-6... Just ordered some decals for one of these.  Figures I would find some RA 109 decals after schmoozing you out of your kit LOL.

Guy- I like that CR.42!  Decals look very good on that one.  See what you mean about the strut attachment, but you did a bang-up job with what you had to work with.  I would call it a most definate success! Approve [^]  Excellent job with the photography.  If you hadn't mentioned your trials with that kit, I would never had known otherwise.  Now, about that Sweet kit... Superdetailing the office on a 1/144 kit?  Yep, you're obviously off your rocker LOL.

Sean- What a cool story!  Thanks for the pic, like Aaron said it means more knowing the whole story. Thumbs Up [tup]  COol looking kit, right side up AND upside down!  Hard to tell which is right, except for the camo colors.  Nice try talking me into one Mister.  If anyone can do it, you can!  I CANT.  ***groan***

SC- Sounds like a tricky operation there!   From your description of it, sounds like a real PITA.  I know what you mean about putting it off, that's why my Corsairs are hiding in a box in the back of the closet. Disapprove [V]

Deeve- Sounds like you and I have the same thoughts on that cowl!  The one in the kit is from a G-6, and I am planning on using it as well.  In fact, considering buying some decals for a RA G-6 and using the bits in the box to build one of those. Wink [;)]  About the tail... Are you referring to the tail being canted to the right?  If so, that is a feature of the real aircraft.  The tailfin and rudder were offset to the right to help counteract the torque of the engine.  Kudos for Hasegawa for catching this detail! Thumbs Up [tup]

Dave- I'm looking forward to your progress pics! Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for all the comments fellas. It was a really nice kit to build with no issues. The antenna wire is from 2lb fishing line, I like using it as its strong and very easy to shrink up to tighten it with a match or cigarette. The yellow tips on the blades are shown in the instructions and also some refrence pics I seen.

Guy, the cr 42 is sweet. The smoke rings are great arent they. They are very fragile though so handle carefully as they will rub off. I dont see anything wrong with the build. I know of the strut problem but all bi-planes are a bit of a pain. Great job.

Guy - Your a maniac, 1/144 and scratch~building the office... Bow [bow]  Unbelievable, what magnifacation do you use on your Optivisor ?

Trying to keep up with Aaron's building pace here is my next subject untill my Mail order Caproni shows up.  I chose the Cant. Z.1007 since we couldnt talk Frank into building one.

Cant Z

This plane is so Cool, it even looks good inverted.

Cant Z *

Well time to slip the Meryl Haggard 8 track in and get to building.

So Uh Guy...... now your scratch building details in 1/144 to have an easy feel good build, Hmmmm somehow that seems odd. Looks fantastic though I had no idea on the size until I saw your finger tip. I woulda probably used the middle finger.  I like it! PM replied too! Thumbs Up [tup]

deeve! I think your 109 F-4 looks fine!  We talked about those resin bits earlier and the poor fit. Seems universal. Frank I believe is going the same route with the sand scheme. Nice to see both being shown. Anyone doing a G-6? LOL.

I am likeing the smoke ring decals so far. They look really good Steve! Top Notch!  Guys are looking sweeet as well!

What should be next?

Steve, great looking Macchi!  I'm loving the look of those smoke rings too.  Might have to order some.

Guy, The Cr 42 looks awesome despite what you say.   I also like the choice for your next subject.  In fact, you could say it's Sweet!  [groan Disapprove [V])

Been busy running the kids around and getting groceries etc.  Hope to get some more progress on the G55 S later tonight.

Luftwoller.

I took some better pictures and replaced the ones I had posted before.

You can see them on my webshots page.

I didn't do the camo exactly as it was on the plane, i followed the kits painting instructions :) If I do another one I will do it more like the real thing, applied overtop an existing luftwaffe camo with the crosses whited out.

The fit on the cowling was awefull. There were gaps everywhere and I didnt feel like spending 2 weeks filling and sanding. I just used the other cowling that was in the box. I believe it was from a K model?

Another reason I didnt use the resin cowling was at the time I didnt not have a micro drill. I got one about a week after I had decided to go with the other cowling.

My resin wheels also had a couple of missing spokes. Looks like there was an air bubble or somthing in it when cast. Overall the resin left a lot to be desired. This was my first time doing anything with resin in it though.

I can honestly say I did not go into as much detail with the cockpit as you are.

One question, did you find there was a bit of a bend in the tail of this kit? On mine it almost looks like the rudder is to the side, but the bend goes about an inch up the tail, its not too bad, but if you look you can see it.

Thx for the kind words kids. I know your only being nice though LOL. It really looks grotty at the strut attachment points so as you see i didnt take pics of those LOL.

I needed a quick fix to get me out of the dolldrums so heres my next mission,

Now building this kit OOB would be just too easy. Theres also not a cockpit as such,

The decal sheet shows an instrument decal so that was like a red rag to a bull. Out came the dremel and in went a floor to start it all off,

Next up was a seat, I made this out of styrene sheet, you can see the parts above. They were then whittles and sanded to an approximate shape and then sprayed alluminium and then foil seat belts were added. To make the instrument panel, i decalled a bit of styrene, let it dry then cut the styrene close to the decal,

I then painted the pit area and then added my scratched bits, OOoh err missus.

the finger here is my index,

The fuzz is together now and the glue is going off, more soon.

Wow~wee  Steve - I had to backtrack as I missed your post. Your Macchi is Terrific. Those smoke rings are so cool. (I had to order a set myself) What did you make your antenna out of ? One more question did you add the painted prop tips yourself or did you have a reference for them ? They really make the prop "Pop"

Steve the Macchi looks awesome. She lloks perfect to me. Great job on the smoke rings. Definetly getting some of those Mike Grant decals after seeing the results posted here.

Guy the Falco looks great with the smoke ring camo job. From what you can see the cockpit looks good too. I am pretty sure what I know what you do not like about the finished product because I am very familiar with the kit but I am going to keep it to myself. I do'nt think anyone else will notice. Nice job on a difficult model. Whats next?

I am dreding attaching the landing gear to my Re 2000. They attach with tiny pins that go into holes in the bottom of the upper wing panel. There is no way they could support the small weight of the model. Add to this that the strut rods that might give them some help are not included in the kit nor are there any positive attacment point for them and it become very clear this is not going to be any fun. Looks like I am going to have to scratch biuld a better support system for the gear so I have been putting it off the last couple of days and thinking off a fix for the weak mounts. Mabye this weekend I will be inspired.

Aaron - Those pics you posted are the equivalent to me going to a family gathering, Their all outlaws.

The pic I posted was of my Dad and two of his buddies in San Francisco in 1942.

Ive not weathered it yet, still not sure if im going to. Im sure it will look great from the very very back of my cabinet LOL.

Now onto my next monster of a project. Another Reggy Aero BTW.
