Note the absence of the right stabilasor....it broke of during the removing of the masking and is damaged....

I'm looking forward to this! When I was stationed on the Midway, the Iowa came along side for an unrep and it was very impressive in overall size. These are a couple of photos I took of the event.

Antoher progress update, decals, wash and flat coat are on. I just need te do some detail painting and find some weapons and this bird is finished. Hopefully I can do that this weekend (that would make this my most productive year ever, 5 build complete!).

I have finished my F-18L (FSW)! The decals are some spares, most came from an F-14.

I have added two weapons, a dummy Sparrow and telemetry pod (what is the name of those things?)

 

Maybe I wil do another Whiff, I have got an idea for a P-26 racer... must find some parts for that one first.

 

How is the rest of you doing with your builds?

I am still working on my modern refit of a CVE into a CVE(N) with a slanted deck but I have been transferred and I must move on July 1 so my building has to be put on hold until I get settled into my new home. I don't want to have something too difficult to pack without breakage and when I get situated I will continue building in earnest.

I would love to see others' progress!

Hi guys,

 

I've been away for a while recuperating from an accident and moving from Shenandoah County Virginia to Springfield Va.  Country to city.  I'm still unpacking so it will be a little while before model building resumes in earnest.  I hope to see more pics soon and the Gloster Warthog looks way cool.

 I've been away while myself. Althought it looks like the Sea Hustler will not be ready in time, I've completed one and will have another very shortly.

The first is an AEW I call the Eye of the Tiger. The inspiration came from a floor protector used under furniture legs.

Well this is an interesting GB! i am eager to see the Iowa-Cv conversion. And i would love to enter this group build but i dont know i will be able to get around to it. However, if i was able to get around to it i know what i would build. So would you please put me down as a battleship/carrier conversion. It may sound uninteresting but it wont be one of those conversions where the guns are gone and the flightdeck appears. The ship will have a rather long hull and a flight deck BUT it will keep its guns. I am not sure how many guns or anything but i have the basic blueprint locked up in my head to make complete theft of the idea impossible.

I'm finally back on line and I cannot wait to see that conversion. Is it a WWII or a modern BB to CV conversion. a Nimitz/Missouri hybrid with F-18s would be beyond cool.

The Eye of the Tiger is completely cool. I am going to have to do something like it myself perhaps.

I have been derelict in my duties to this forum and I ask forgiveness. I have been attacked recently by Multiple Sclerosis that has taken the use of my legs and is now robbing my hands of function. I am undergoing treatment to reverse the loss of motor function but I have no idea what the results will be. Building models is becoming impossible due to the loss so I must ask you all to keep up this GB. I will continue with awe to follow your builds but can offer no more building of my own. Please keep up the good work and if you have a prayer or two to spare, I would br grateful if you could send them my way. (That is God's way on my behalf) In the mean time, even typing this post has taken about an hour to get it right so I will be watching but replying may be too hard. I am bowing out of the FSM forum so please keep building and keep inspiring with your awesome work. God Bless you all.

In accordance with your wish to keep up this GB I am posting my next Whiff build;

I have gathered the parts for a race variant of the Boeing P-26.

The donor kit is a revell 1/72 P-26, the cowling a revell/lodela 1/72 Machi 202 (I really like those 1930's cowling with buldges) The pics are of my setup, just tacked together

 

I am trying to decide if I should keep the gearthe orignal width:

I have made a canopy using the "heat smash" method over the feul tank of a Folland Gnat (last pic)

I am now glue some pieces together, pics will follow. I am also thinking of shortning the wing, making it more "racy".
