Charles- Very nice!  I have to admit, I like the black background better.  Seems to go with the model better IMHO.

Not to re-has and old buildm but I like these pics much better. The Bronze/Brown background and better lighting are more pleasing for this one...

Thanks Carlos, Guy and Dave. I am really pumped...I received two packages in two days: one was a set of 3 Arii/Otaki Hellcats with resin/PE and the other was an eBay win of 4 Hasegawa Zeros and a Hasegawa Jack.

It looks like after the Hellcat I may have to chime back in with a Zero.

Beautiful work Charles!  Nice smooth paint job.    I'm currious about what appears to be an open canopy though.  Is there a reason/story behind that or did they just strip the kamikaze planes down to bare minimum to pack more explosives?

Thanks, guys. I need to re-take the photos, as the lighting makes it less than flattering IMHO.

We'll start with ONE Hellcat and see how smooth it goes. I have to admit I'm a sucker for Arii/Otaki kits. They are usually nice fitting with decent external details and from my experience make for fun builds.

I'm trying to buy time until it's cold enough to stay inside on the weekends and I can focus on the 1/24 Zero. I'm staying with some "easier" builds until the time is right. Fortunately I have enough kits in the stash to support this GB for the next two years if necessary!

Nice build Charles.  Very nice. 

Looking forward to seeing the Hellcats soon.

Reporting for duty, sir! We'll be under attack by Kamikaze's soon. Our recon photo's from the Cat has spotted a new type of piloted bomb on some enemy airfield's. Here are a few of them:

Our intel says this is the 1/48 Nakajima Eduard ki115 Tsurugi, or Sabre. It looks to be NMF underside with IJA green on the top. not very weathered as they haven't been put into service just yet. I'm not sure what the designer's were thining, butthe landing gear looks pretty flimsy...Oh. that's right, they aren't intended to land back at base.

We need to assemble an attack force soon. Put me down for a 1/48 Otaki F6F Hellcat... I've received three of them inboxes just off the boat and I'll have my crew unload and start preparing one for evaluation....

Frank, it was done with a .2mm tipped AB getting very close and personal and angled while shooting with the castle tip removed. The gray is Gunze IJN Gray and the green is Tamiya IJN green.

Well getting days off just isn't happening, looks like I may go another 2 or 3 weeks without one (I'm starting day 14 tomorrow). However, I'm not going to let that stop me I'll just have to squeeze in a little building each night after work.

For the yellow wing on the Duck I'm looking at MM Chrome Yellow and MM Insignia Yellow, does anyone know which is more accurate?

I also just picked up 2 more airfix kits cheap, a Devastator and Brewster Buffalo. Would these still have been in the yellow wings scheme on Dec 7, 1941?

 The 1/72 Rufe is done, I'll post pics tomorrow.  Turned out really well for a $2 ancient bagged kit I picked up.

I'm adding two 1/48 IJA fighters to my roster.  Ki 27 Nate and Ki 61 Tony (both Hasegawa).  I'll throw some WIP pics up too if there are any worthwhile.

Actually, it looks good and like you said, its an easy fix. I wish that's the worst thing that I had ever done....

Well I have a small update, but any step forward is worth posting if there is visual progress anyway hehe. Shot the green on the floats of my Jake and must say I should not have jumped the gun and mounted that bloomin' float before i painted it. I was really wanting to try out that knitting-in elastic and wanted it on NOW!!! lol Anyway it's chalked up to the learning curve of a lifetime of having fun modeling. You can see why I say that by looking at the top of the float of the one on the wing. Overspray!!! I was trying to be careful and keep the AB angled away and got careless painting the front of the strut, then saw that and !! Easily fixed but when you think you are going well, MURPHY"S LAW strikes!!!! I think for 1/72 I got a pretty decent demarcation for the colors!! Any comments and criticisms welcomed. Here's a couple pics, enjoy!
