Hey guys, just wondering what all this build covers and how long it's going for.   I got a 1/48 B-25D from Accurate Miniatures if that would count, and also a 1/48 PBY Catalina, but I haven't started them and won't be able to until after I finish my B-17 project this summer

Red,

The build officially ends on 30 June.  However, most GB's tend to linger for a while after their official end date.  If you think you can get your 17 wrapped up in time to start, come on aboard.

Nice work Julez, the pit looks stellar! Looking forward to seeing this one progress.

Espins, great seeing you back at the bench, are you planning on a full flight deck?

Keep up the great work fella's

Nah, I don't think I'll be done with it by then since its a big diorama too, but my B-25 and PBY will eventually make their way onto this forum somewhere

Mobius - thanks, I never seem to get as much time as I would like at my work bench.  The flight deck of my Hornet will be loaded with B-25 aircraft, the hangar deck will has some Dauntless, Devastator and Wildcats.  Cool

Hey Scott, sounds like a cool project. I watched footage of the launching of the B-25's. Really amazing how quickly they got into the air. I'd guess timing was critical, literally catching the wave.

Hope I can squeeze this build in. It's been in the stash since the beginning of the GB. It's the Hasegawa 1/48 P-38F Lightning. The kit so far has had some fit issues and I managed to break one of the booms during alignment. Nothing major but a break never the less. There's been minimal flash and loads of panel lines (which I had to putty and sand over). Had to raid the tacklebox to get a couple of IMO, big sinkers to keep the nose wheel down. Overall, not the easiest kit, but I really like the fork tail devil. This is a photo of where the project was this morning...

I'm planning on closing the pit up, so I didn't do any detail painting. Just shot it a general cockpit color added a few painted details. I've also finished rescribing most of the lost panel lines, shot the upper surfaces with an Olive Drab, and the lower with a Light Grey. The primer was a little to much on the white side for me. About the only thing left to do, is the canopy framing, the .50's up front, reattaching the gear bay doors, and adding the attenae. I'll have to dig up some reference on the aerial, the instructions or the box art don't show it. I'll try to get some pics up when it's finished.

Hey SP, The Mosquito is an cool looking aircraft. I built one of them way back. Must have been around 12 or so. I've been wanting to build another.

Seems as soon as the last of the primer goes on, the fun really begins. I got most of the paint work done last night and early this morning. The canopy was a bit fidgity trying to get all 5 pieces aligned. The forward section is also part of the cowling, I ended up sanding the bottom edges to get a better fit. The rear section was scratched in a couple of spots. I should have replaced the whole affair with a Falcon canopy. I used your idea of a comparison shot. Here's the P-38 parked next to an Me262...

Just a few more items that need attention. Most of it's there anyway.

To make sure I don't leave anyone out by mistake- great work all 'round everyone!!!!!

Just got back from vacation/holiday and took some photos at a great veterans museum in Huntsville Alabama that should help me. Just in case anyone else might be interested here's two pictures of captured Japanese equipment and some Iwo Jima volcanic beach sand:

Sorry the pics weren't better quality. I didn't want to take a separate pic of each item and the glass display case distorts the image to some degree.

Cool photo's Gamera. A very nice display of Japenese WWII equipment, something I've not seen too much of. Great to see items like this being preserved for all to enjoy.

Thanks SP, just bottuned up the last few items on the Lightning. Opted for a bomb load out, instead of the auxillary drop tanks. Added the arial and added a the prop decals. A few photos.

Alot of filing and sanding went into this one. Thanks for looking.

Hey Mobious great model of my favorite USAAF plane (ok, well it ties with the P-47).

I've built the Hasegawa P-38J and though I've heard people complain about fit mine went together pretty well. Maybe not as perfect as yours but no major problems.

Everything is great but I really like the weathering, I think it really sets her apart. Yes

Thanks for the compliments. It was a fun build, cept for knocking the gear bay doors lose all the time. With all the weight in the nose, I was abit nervous about the front landing gear.

Gamera, the P-38 is one of my favorites too, next to the Milkjug and Mustang. Haven't built any of the latter...yet.

Thanks again for looking and the compliments, I'll be sticking around to check in on all the excellent PTO builds going on...

Hi all, unfortunately a computer crash on my PC which bricked my main hard drive has left me on the sidelines for a while, but I'm back up and running now.

I'll go back and review the last few pages later on this evening and fix up the roster as needed.

Mobious that is an outstanding P-38, awesome work YesYesYes

Thanks very much Darson, for the kind words. I still have several kits that would qualify for the PTO. I've committed to a couple of other GB's and some are way over due, so much so that I've been feeling abit guilty about not finishing up on them. So with that said, I'm going to be trying to get the slate clean, before heading to the ETO and tackling the Me110. I am liking the looks of the Eduard kit.

Thanks again,

Mobious

Mobius, stunning job on the P 38.

The paintwork is spot on, as is the weathering.

Absolutely brilliant build.

Jules, that NMF is looking very clean and sharp.

Looking forward to seeing that finished.

Julez, the P-51 is looking great! Love the looks of Mustang. Something about it just screams out performance. I did get a chance to look the instruction booklet over on the Me 110. Just as you said there are PE handles on every MG magazine, and there are a ton of em. Be looking forward to seeing progress on the Mustang so keep us posted on updates.

Thanks Karl for the comments, Means alot after seeing the inspiring talent you've displayed here in the PTO GB.
