Stikpusher, the repair looks top notch. Well done.

sf_plane_nut, hope the move goes well. If you need any help with the stash just feel free to send them to me! Good luck with the move.

Metallicus - Love the Mitchell! Yes Did you preshade or post shade your panel lines? Also, are the flaps and ailerons positionable in that kit? Lookin' good!

Stik - Looking forward to the final results on that Hellcat. Such a mean looking bird! Super Angry

This is when the Hellcat starts looking mean....

Well today's decalfest was severely interrupted by the honey-do list.... but I did get all the decals applied to my F6F. I need to go back and fix one of the teeth in the chin scoop, but otherwise am quite happy with the results so far.... here are a few shots.

HI all thanks for the commrents on the Mitchell also everyone work here during this build have been awesome to watch come to life.

Progress on the the Mitchell from the last post not much else has happen apart from she has got her shoes now and has been shot in a couple of coats of Klear and left to cure. She should be getting her panel wash today.

@Imabx: It was/will be a bit of both, just a light preshade, then when the light drab went on i just added a few drops of white into what was left in the airbrush and shot the centre on the panels with the lighter shade.  With regards to your other question, No all the control surfaces are fixed, I cut them out so i could position them and then used milliput to add the surface area.

Metalicus, your Mitchell is looking great! What else are you planning to do on her?

As for me, I had to perform some dental surgery on the Kitty today. The upper center tooth in the cowl scoop must have shifted during the drying process, so I had to re float it with Micro Set (quite a bit) and position it properly. If it dries in the right spot this time I can hit her with dullcoat on my next airbrushing session.

Hey there Metalicus I have to agree, what more do you need to do on the Mitchell as shee looks mighty fine just the way she is.

Metal: she looks done to me, beautiful work!

Stik: she's looking to be one swell cat to me.

Sim: not to step on your toes MAC but if I may answer it's a 1/35th set from MasterBox.

I'm using it and two other sets of figures for my entry if I ever get it done.

Well I have been really acting like a snail finishing this Jake but have shot a bit of Tamiya X-19 smoke and for using it for the first time I am impressed!!! It got just the effect I was after. Will be surely using this more in the future (pardon the pun)Propeller

Thanks Julez and Darren!!! Really wasn't quite sure what to expect from the smoke, but must say, thin as normal for Tamiya and when you start to see the effect STOP!!! Pull back and take a big picture look, and adjust as necessary. I left the effect on the Jake the way it is because the exhaust stacks set a bit proud of the airflow and would not get the full heat effect as say an F4U-4B would from Korea with exhaust stains almost from stem to stern. The color is spot on and will surely be using it more often.

Well fellers I'm stickin' a fork in this one. Going to the contest later today, and I'm Sleep Not perfect by any means but I'm happy with it for being such an old kit. Here's a couple pics. Will get a few more in a couple days. Had some of the port side but were blurry. Anyways Enjoy!

Thanks guys!!! Julez it was done by a pencil yes, Lyra Super Ferby. Tongue Tied almost like a pastel pencil I'd say. As long as it will leave the appropriate marks with little effort any silver pencil should work, I would avoid normal coloring pencils as the 'lead' is much too hard.

The contest Darson and I helped judge last night is another big success. Over 630 entries, and was there till 11pm. Will be going back monday for the swap and sell and then will be taking pics. Will post some soon.

Yeah i'll have to try the pencil method, i really like the results...I still chip with the salt method and i use my scribe facing backward for smaller chips, it looks good on an NMF but it's a little too strong an effect with a camo job....

I agree, I tried to portray a plane that was well used but yet had many missions to go. Really, combat aircraft from all sides during WWII were kept very well in working order and maintained. A true meaning, as far as weathering, a little goes a long way!

Darson: Just a note that I'm still at work but with less than a week to go I'm going over the finish date. Hopefully I'll have her done before too much longer. Will try to get some photos up of what I have finished.
