Robert, Nice job on the Ram, too bad the kit wasn't up to standard. It's a unique vehicle. Nice 'fix' on it though! Less than exemplary kit, super netting.

Latch, Looks great! Like everybody else, I want a BARV!

Tim, Looking good also!

latch you've done a great jod on your BARV, the weathering looks great.

Tim your Sherman is looking good. It should make a fine looking piece.

I like the look of that rusty/dusty Sherman. It looks as if it has seen some real action. Great job!

Dwight thanks for the kudos, time constraints and a road trip (plus starting halfway through the build) did not allow me to put all the final touches I wanted...mainly Robert's muddy track techniques. Thanks again Robert and to everyone else on the forums!

Good Job Johnpo!

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I stayed up late at night trying to figure out how to weather that thing. (No, really, I did!)

Wow, the shermies are really piling up! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Well, I learned a valuable lesson in building models today; resin burns! I was trying to lower the arm of a figure when all of the sudden WHOOSH, this whole arm is up in flames! I blew it out quickly, and was able to lower his arm, everything worked out alright. Just scared me for a second is all.

Status: Well, hehe, I ain't quite done yet. For the M10, all I have to do is glue the treads on it, decals and weather. I will probably get the first two done tonight, but the weathering will probably be done this weekend as well as the base and figures.Big Smile [:D]

John, the Jumbo looks great!
I'm still on a holding pattern here (too much going on outside of the build), but might get to do something tonight. I'm almost done with the Sherman, but the base and all of the little extras are going to take a while. Not too long I hope!

Well all .... the 15th has come and gone, the official close date for this build.

Of course we have a couple of stagglers (present company included), and that was totally expected.

But one thing that I will do so that this doesn't turn into an endless thread (not that having a Sherman thread permanently displayed is a bad thing), is I am closing the Group to any new additions. Only the members that have already been added to the Group up to this point will have acess to display their finished works there. Hope that sounds good to everyone here.

So on a lighter note, here's my latest progress report.
The tracks for the Firefly are almost finished painting and weathering. Still need to mount them on the Friefly, a little drybrushing, and some mud and pastels and she's all finished. Then I can leizurely work on the dio for both the Firefly and the Ram.

Unfortunatly I can only build on the weekends. However, this weekend I going to fix my snafu on the tracks and get this thing finished.

i know from other postes that the hatch interiors were o/d like the rest of the tank, but am curious to know what colour the "padding" or "cushions" (!?...i'm sure you must know what i mean!) were on the hatch interiors; also, what colour were the periscope housing and vision blocks please?

Nick - Pads can be either black or brown. The housing, O.D. and the scopes, either O.D. with black right at the lenses or overall black.

I am awaiting a straggling order! I had decided to go with the kit tracks as a time saver but I will probably start the AFV Club set while I wait. Once my order arrives it will only be a couple days.

Started the base last night. It's looking good so far. The tank itself is 99% done... just have to finish weathering when it's on the base and add some straps for stowage. I still have to build some tankers to work around the tank!

Thought I would be ready to lay down paint this week, but that was before I had a good look at the 17 pounder arrangement in the Academy Achilles. Now I am scratch building the shell guard (ejected shells) as the kit one is not even close to the real thing, as well as the other little bits.

Finally made enough 17 pounder rounds, ended up making them all as the moulds kept splitting (old RTV I guess), but you will only really see about 15 of them on the finished thing. Busy painting these, so I shouldn't end up dragging the chain too long.

Thanks Robert. Last week I ordered some parts from www.formations.com. I hope this will add a lot of great detail to my Calliope.

SITE UPDATE

gnsnow's M4A3 has been added to the site. I find this build of Gary's to be most interesting as it was built for a veteran Sherman jockey whose pic is included on the site.

Here's a teaser

Gary: That's a finely weathered M4. Looks like it just got off the beach. Normandy, I suppose? Great job. Love the sand and dust.

Hmmm. I think I am beginning to fall in love with grime. LOL. This must be the after effect of the M1A2 wash thing. He-he-he.
