Sherm: Thanks.

Build: Well, it is a bit catchy, blunt and strong, I know. The quotation was said to have been written by PLATO and was recognized as such at the beginning of the movie BLACK HAWK DOWN. However, others point out that it is actually a phrase in George Santayana's "Soliloquies in England".

Dwight,
Sounds good, just my opinion.

Sherm,
I have a M4a1 almost ready for paint as a matter of fact. It does have a special theme to it though.

I've just been looking thru these ref pics and everytime I think I have the model right (jusy by looking at it) - it the wrong one. Just want to work my way up to Shermocology 301.

I think i'm catching on, though

Ahem.........found out what happened to the wash Sherm.

My 16 yr old son lives with his Mom but visits me often. He needed to do some work on an Art piece for homework the last weekend he was here. I usually let him use my artist oil paints, but he helped himslf to the flat base as well. He used nearly the whole lot left in the jar, then put some white spirit in the jar to wash it out so he could use the empty jar later (had to explain to him that the flat base was water based). He forgot to tell me, and to clean up, as usual.

I have a cold and can't smell anything at the moment so didn't notice the smell. Only found out what happened 'cause he bought me home a replacement jar of flat base today.

Anyway, OD is on again. One of the guys in my club has offered his set of decals as he used a different set. Will pick them up Saturday and will bite the bullet and try future/Flat again. Will be say a week til finished and pics sent.

progress report:
if i had devoted as much time to building as i have to trying (and failing) to get these signature pics sorted out, i would have finished ages ago!Tongue [:P]
can anyone tell me how to re-size "our" group build pic to that of the panther one? i still can't figure it out...Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]
my firefly: pretty much finished!! all i need to do is get some help from my girlfriend to sow cotton thread over all the jerry cans, camo rolls and netting that is on the front and back of my sherm.
boy am i pleased, but hey, it's been loads of fun!!!
Kind regards, Nicholas

Hey, I come with pics!!!!!! I have included the link for some more pics on my workbench. WARNING that last pic of the M10 on the workbench is HUGE!! I would not suggest opening it if you do not have large bandwidth. I would appreciate any scrutinizing, criticisms, and/or comments. Oh yah, I am still not done with the MK tracks, “but I’m trying Ringo, I’m trying real hard.” Enjoy:

First, thanx to everyone who sent their prayers, positive waves & best wishes...
that weekend, mom bashed her head pretty badly on a kitchen cabinet door, and my little bro' was jumping on the bed & nearly went thru his window....
& i lost my part-time job...
trying 2 stay positive, no one was seriously hurt in either accident, & i'm hoping 2 find another job soon...
we r still going thru a bit of a rough time, but we will get thru it together as a family.
haven't had much energy left over 4 modeling efforts, unfortunately...Sad [:(]
but i did get in a good session w/ the m32 nite before last, & even took some pix. i was planning on posting a couple today, but my digicam battery just died on me & i forgot 2 bring the adapter cable with... Dead [xx(]Dead [xx(]Dead [xx(]
i promise i will have pix up asap... maybe i'll even get the model finished & earn my merit badge !

thanx again 2 u, my modeling family !

Figured I would throw in a pic of the Sherman I started a couple of weeks ago if that would be allright. I know Robert may be getting near his limit of Sherman intake for the month so I'll just keep it to one pic. Big Smile [:D] Nothing special about this Sherman ( and a deep sigh is heard all the way from Canada with that comment Wink [;)]) Only thing I have altered is added the sponsons with cardboard from a kit box and drilled out the MG.

Hope things are okay with the family and things improve for you soon Frosty. My oldest boy was laid off from his part time job too. The new owners decided to sack everyone and employ only their family members. He is looking for a new job, but it is hard with so many other kids looking for jobs as well.

Eric. Nice M10. Love the weathered winter coat.

SITE UPDATE

The site has been updated with more pics.

Ga.modler's M7 Priest from Italeri and his M4A4 with rockets from DML have been added.

I also did a little housekeeping and removed some names of people I haven't heard from since the beginning of the build. If you are one of these people and are still busy building, just let me know and I'll pop you back in.

Robert, I just bought a new 2M camera off e-bay this week. When it gets here I'll take some better photos of my project to replace those blurry ones.

Build,

Yes, it has been de-stickied 2 weeks after the deadline as previously discussed here.

BUT we can keep it afloat all the time if we still post in it.

We just need to keep posting and we'll keep up at the top. That is what the small AFV group build was doing before it got stickied.
I know this is a big no no in the armor forum, but as aircraft guys (especially the B-17) would say, "we've broken from the formation, fending on our own."

Edog your M10 looks great

LQ2 the same goes for you too. The fuel stain looks excellent, how did you do it.
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Like Dwight said .... right on schedule.
I would imagine this thread will still hang near the top for a while, there's still a few out there to come in yet.

Now if the others follow this lead .... we'll have the forum uncluttered in no time.

The fuel stain was more an accident than an intentional thing. Basically some of the black wash went a bit over the edge so I eased it on down a bit more, once it dried added a bit of thinned rust to it and that pretty much did it.
