Sorry Man. All I have specifically on the 601st is the few pictures that are available in the Concord offering on US Tank Destroyers. Nothing really indepth.

But, I think Accurate Armour had a decal set for the 601st. It was several years ago. It did not include a lot of options, but there were a few. You might check with them. Maybe they still offer it.

Dwight - $44.95 in Canada ..... grab it !!!!

Trevor - Unfortunately the M12 is based on the M3, so I'd have to say it's a no go.
Pity really .... like to see the big gun built ... maybe an arty build in 2004 !!

Per Shermanfreak, the Israeli Sherman is completely legal.

I was just looking over my kits trying to figure out which one to build.

I have a M-12 you know the one with the 155mm gun. Does that one count?

It's a toss-up between that and my Tamiya M4A3 or maybe my Italeri M4A1, well I do have a Priest that I've been wanting to build, on the other hand I have a coulpe of Dragon M4A4s. Well any way at least the Lee is off the list.
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Dwight - Sounds great !!! which one was it? The M50 or 51..... DML or Academy or is it the old Authentikit from MPC ????? ....
8 bucks !!!! Grab it and run

Ga.modeler - all works out well and you'll be able to take your Priest turkey hunting.

Latch - so many Shermans ... so little time

Chris - sounds like perfect timing !!!

Dwight, I don't see why not. It's a Sherman, no matter what country used it.

Speaking of Yugoslavia,

They did some interesting things to M36's. It would be good to see one of them in this build.

Also, the Vietnamese used M36's with the E9 suspension (the VVSS suspension with duckbill connectors on the inside and outside of the track. There were spacers used on the hull sides to move the suspension out enough).

Now that's something you don't see everyday!

IIRC, it was an M4A3 (75) W (like the Tamiya kit) upgunned to a 76. I think it was a Yugoslavian Army loaner.

Kenneth - sorry to hear you won't be joining us for this build .... but there's still time between now and January 15th for inspiration to strike !!

that is the one. I will need to remember to put a beard on odd ball and a rag on the drivers head Wink [;)]

How about putting the Sherman at the exit to the tunnel, just coming out (is that the right film??? the one with the Hippies in it???)

News on the new M10 from Acadamy is that you get a Full engine with it
http://pmms.webace.com.au/reviews/vehicles/academy/acd1397e1.htm
so maybe there sherman might be worth getting

yes that is the movie, stuffing the Sherman in a tunnel would help with hiding my work Big Smile [:D] Actually that is not bad either, with railroad tracks etc.

I really like the idea of oddball hanging upside down on the barrel looking at the Tiger. and IIRC the tank had a short barrel like a M4A3 with the 105 howizter.

Thinking of going with the Tamiya kit, not sure if I am up to major mods, I will settle with doing a half way decent finish

You are correct Jon. Odd ball's Sherman come's out a train tunnel to attack the germans. The tank had loud speakers playing music.

Thanks for the welcome. I was thinking as the tank was in the movie [big loud speaker and a tube to make the barrel LOOK bigger etc. Smile [:)] ]

If I can get going on this I could see it set up one of three ways. Kelly outside hanging onto the 50 as they enter town, or in a building with a tiger point blank and from behindl, or the shot of tiger stuck between a wall and a tree as it gets hit with the paint round. Ah think I have watched that movie too often?

This will be a first time project so be gentle with meBig Smile [:D]

Welcome to the forum Dostacos. I think that would be a cool model to make. I agree with Chris as long as the the tank is an M4 variant . I don't think Robert would have a problem with it.

Hey Dostacos (although I prefer three or more at a meal!Wink [;)])

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Actually, the Kelly's Heroes tanks are real Sherman variants! I'm probably wrong taking this from my dusty old memory, but I think they're post WWII Czech. reworks. Upgunned and perhaps re-engined. I'm sure somebody in this thread will have the real specs on them! However, they were used in some country's military, pretty much as they appeared in the film. Correct me if I'm wrong here guys!

I wouldn't cry if I found one with a big ribbon around it on Thursday morning, sitting in my driveway! (fueled up of course!)

Ron.

Does it need to be a "real" Sherman?

I am thinking of Oddball's Sherman from the movie "KELLY'S HEROS" and I have not built a model for a very long time.

Is it expected to be a diorama or just the tank or....?
