Okay, I feel better now.  Stripped all the paint off and I am starting over. 

On the bright side I got to fix some seams that I was not happy with before but was willing to overlook in hopes of making the deadline.

I think everyone's time should have expired by now (finished yet stik?), so I thought I'd jump on and do a bit of a rant.

Firstly there are some excellent builds here in the group. I always learn something from a group build, in this case... I shouldn't be so fussy with my builds, things like thinking about gluing a part on for three days, before finally doing it. I can see my builds being a little quicker now.

Those that finished on time... well done, and those that didn't meet the deadline... good effort.

40.mm - don't you hate when you come down with the lurgy, see you at the next one.

Alex - love that Krupp, I could put it next to my tank and we'd have half a diorama

Bob - great start, pity you didn't have the time to continue

Bondo Bill - possibly too ambitious, maybe next time pick something you are less passionate about so you can just slap it together. What you did looks great anyway.

Mia - Fantastic work, especially for a novice.

Frank - what can I say... eggcelent, pity the decals didn't work out for you.

Doug - great dio, very ambitious for a 48 hour timeframe

Dupes - excellent build. However I think the decal on the tail should have been LM (Lycra Man)

Jeff - looking good at the last post, got that photobucket sorted yet?

Karl - Pity the pre-shading slowed you down, you possibly could have sacrificed that step for the sake of the schedule. Lovely work.

Andrew - turned out great, despite the great masking disaster.

Buddy - the AC 130 looks the part, pity about your mask disaster as well.

Guy - try again for the next one.

Scott - you build at the same speed I usually do.

Neu - the finish turned out great, love the panel technique

John - how about some pics of the finished project. What you have posted so far looks great.

Osher - enamel paint and English weather? Good effort all the same.

Panzerjager - the howitzer looks great. You build too fast!

Dave - looking good, pity you didn't get it done. Too much time hosting on the computer, not enough time at the bench building?

Aaron - all nighter... excellent work (even though you did call in the extra assistants), loved the vid, good to see you got that fourth engine sorted.

Stikpusher - finished yet? Where's them photos?

Sean - that looks shmick, excellent work on that flying machine.

Wirraway - maybe next time?

I hope I didn't miss anyone. We had a few go AWOL, or possibly still MIA.

If we did a week long weekend of madness, I'll probably end up in divorce court!

Anyway enough for now. As promised I will do a quick review of the Tiger shortly.

Here's my Tamiya 1/72 F4D-1 Douglas Skyray. This one was easy to build but the pitfall was that the decals were lousy. Don't know what happened there, but it took an extra evening to tame them. Still a little trimming to go, but I wanted to post her. She's a really pretty little bird, too.

Thank you Dave for hosting the GB. As always it was a lot of fun. Now, if anyone has an F3D-1 Skyknight, I know a buyer...

Finally back to where I was yesterday before the paint peeling incident.  Still had a little bit of lifting on the underside but I can fix that easily enough.  I'll let it set for awhile and then shoot some future this afternoon and then let the whole thing cure overnight.  Decals and yellow leading edges tomorrow and it'll be done.  Trying to keep my weekend down to less than a week.

Just an update. I have not forgot to finish my P-400 for this GB. But, have come down with the stomach flu. So have been laid up for the last 2 days and still feel like crap.

Exactly what I'm thinkng Bill.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I can always mask and paint them.

Scott, anytime I see a good one here on the forums I copy and paste it into my computer and later upload it to my own photobucket account.  You can also search photobucket under smileys for all kinds of good stuff. 

This build has been all about available time. I am lucky to get in a hour or two a day in the past couple days. Today I got the decals started. Now I am seeing where some should have been applied before final assembly. Live and learn.

Tomorrow the lower surface decals.

Thinking of trying to put the decals on tonight.  The future has had 6 hours to cure...   Should I go for it?  I'm thinking I would if I were still trying to make the deadline.

Got the decals on last night and despite the fact that they must be at least 30 years old hey went down without much difficulty and snuggled down nicely.  The only problem was I tried using the tweezers as I normally do to pick the frst one up and it was so brittle that it just disintigrated where the tweezers touched it.  A small nic that was easy to touch up with some paint.  Just have to paint the yellow leading edge and propeller tips, dull coat and she's done.

Stik and Dave, looking real good! Good to know some other people are still working on this project like I am. Since the week has started, I've had to slow down. I have less time on the week days than on the weekends (obvious). But last night I added the ordnance. So decals and then I'm FINALLY finished!

Dave, I built an old LS Ki-43 Oscar kit the other day (circa 1975) and the decals gave me some trouble. I had to soak them for a while and they still wouldn't come easily off the paper back. I actually had to carefully peal them off myself. Yours look real great!

well I got the lower decals on, but there will be lots of touch ups tomorrow when they are dry... I'll get some pics posted later on here.

I meant to post these earlier but family stuff got in the way. My grandfather passed 2 days ago and that kept me a little busy.

This is actually a decent little kit. Too bad 48 hours didn't allow enough time to do it justice. Lots of seams and poor fit to deal with that I just didn't have time to fix. Next time we do this I will just do another Tamiya or Hasegawa kit.

Ironically, the decals were freaking nice!  They layed down with no problems at all.

Really great work from everyone Sorry I wasn't as involved as last time but with everything going on, I felt like I was being pulled in 5 different directions at once. Frankly, I almost didn't even start this kit. I just wasn't feeling it.
