Coach C--Spike--Darren--B-17--Richie

Thanks for the comments.  They were much appreciated.

Eatthis

The camo was quite a challenge.  I had to strip the first wo tries.  Ultimately, the camo was applied freehand with the AB.  Very thin paint-very low pressure.  Even then, some areas were too dark so I misted and feathered with the RLM 65 to get the fuzzy, field applied look I was seeking.

Clebode: I think I complemented your Bf-109 while in progress but wow, the finished results are even more than the sum of the parts! Kudos!

Steve--Gamera--Jeremy

Thanks for the compliments.  You have given me a lift after a tough day at work.  Big Smile  After "Black 7"  I am ready to move back to the RD III GB an tackle "Yellow 10", a D-13 with a very elaborate camo scheme.

Darren

Many thanks for hosting this GB.    I plan to be back.  I have always like the D0-17.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good kit.  Scale doesn't matter but would prefer recessed panel lines.

Wel fellas I finally have something to show as progress on the Do-24. I have built all the main assemblies wings etc and started the very tedious task of masking the turrets. What a pain it is in 1/72 scale and there is a lot of framework that is typical of German aircraft. I have also cut off the rudders and elevators and ffset them to give it a better and more interesting pose.

Tonight I hope to paint the main colour on the fuselage so I can install all the small windows and that should cut down on a lot of masking later when the fuselage is together

Steve--I am going to follow your work with interest.  I think the choice of the Do-24 is very interesting.

All--I found two Do-17 Z-2 kits on Ebay that appear appropriate for a second build here.  Both are 1:72.  The box art is identical.  One is labeled Revelle and the other Tsukuda.  The seller wants $20 more fore the Revelle.  Any insights?

Almost certainly the Tsukuda is the Revell kit.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. So far this kit is going together very well with no major fit issues or headaches. The masking is a pain though but gona be worth it in the end

OK guys, calling her done.  Overall not too bad, I should have paid closer atttention to my fit at the wing roots, not real happy with it.  My first attempt at replicating the ceramic insulators on the aerial was a bust too, way too big.  The wheels are True Details which are too small so maybe that balances everything out.  This is a great kit, next time I'll know what to look for on the fit issues and it should come out a little better.  I had planned on some 1/72 projects for this GB but my eyes are just getting too bad to work in that scale any more.

Great work Mike!!! I love the camo. Yes  I can't believe you pulled that off in 1/72!

The insulators may be a tad large but I like the way they look. How did you make them?

Don't believe it, it's the Eduard 1/32 Emil! Smile Burger

For the insulators I took some round plastic stock and filed it down to a point and then drilled it out.  The problem is uou have to have something big enough that you can drill out.

Mike---Very nice indeed!!!  You and I are the Xmen!

John---Thanks for the insight on the Tsukuda.  If you know, are these quality kits?  I've never heard of Tsukuda.

Darren---Please add a Do-17 Z-2 to the roster and show my Bf 109 E-4 as finished.  Thanks.

Mike -- a gorgeous build in every way. She looks like you could climb in and fly away, and that's the core of visual believability!

Fantastic work! Bow Down

Mike: yet another great looking Bf-109. You may not be happy with it but she looks like a winner to meYes!

Clebode: Tsukuda??? There's a Japanese company by that name that has done a fairly extensive line of vinyl 'garage kits' of Godzilla and various other giant Japanese monsters. I have a few of their kits. If this is the same company I didn't know they did aircraft even as knock-offs of other people's products.

Gamera---Below is the link to the Tsukuda offering on Ebay.  It looks to be identical to a Revelle kit offered for $39 on the same page,
