I wouldn't worry too much, Frank, when the Dvina was designed in 1954 it was meant to bring down B-52s, and a Phantom, flown well, 15 years later, could usually avoid them. Just do it in Robin Olds' markings, then you know it'll be safe!

Frank, well buddy i'm glad i'm not alone in the whole overcommited to GB thing....The end date on this one is sneaking up on me and i have no chance of finishing my Eduard A-5 in time so i'm gonna put it back in the stash and if it's ok with you build the much quicker Tamiya D-9...It will have a zoom set in the office but i'll have to leave the engine plug out if i want to start this weekend....

Julez- No worries, please do not ever feel obligated to finish a build on one of my GBs.  All I ask is that you have fun here, and share whatever it is you are building.  I updated page one to reflect your Tamiya Dora!

Assuming RD III GB hasn't entered a time warp, I have a question for Guy, Frank, Coach Crusher and anyone else who would like to help help.  I recall that early on there was some discussion by Guy of wing spar fit problems on the Eduard 1:48 kits he built.  I am about to start an Eduard D-13 and would be most grateful for a reprise with details on those points.  Thanks.

That's for sure Mike!!! I think Frank got the checkmate!!! Then I will come along behind and take pics. Got an RF and a regular C model in the stash. Well, I must say that hearing you guys say ur overcommitted to the hilt on GBs doesn't make me feel so bad then. There are so many I want to join in on but don't because I know I will never finish. Although I do join in just to watch if that is the case and setback and learn.

LOL, sorry about the sidetrack fellas.   I wish I could help out with your query, but I do not have any of Eduard's 190's in my stash.  Hopefully one of the other guys can help!

Hugh Guy would be the one to direct this question to. I do have the Eduard Royal Class boxing of the F-8 Fw 190 but I do not plan on building it anytime soon. I want to finish my Dragon F-8 kit first that I started along time ago first right after my Me 109 E-3 build for the BoB GB. I'll be back Frank!

Well, to bring this back on topic how about a few WIP pics. 

Added a few misc. parts and sorted out the seams (I hope).  Finally got Herman to pose for the camera.  Had to threaten to take away his ride if he didn't co-operate.  Once he was settled down and at the controls I masked the canopy and glued it on.  Tomorrow I hope to paint the interior over the canopy, hopefully a primer coat as well  and then clean up the rest of the parts.  Hopefully the decals get here soon so I sort out the paint colours.

Dave -- looking good! Makes me eager to get on with my Butcher Birds. This is Academy's 1:72, right? It'll be most interesting to compare our builds. Are you using kit decals or AMs? I have a Superscale sheet I'll be mining.

Ah, thanks Dave!  Glad to see some 190 pics.  As much as I hate to admit it, I think the sidetrack was MY fault this time!

Mike- Just took a look at your blog, great looking SA-2!  I really liked the shiny new missile on the weather-beaten launcher.  Also, interesting note on the red decal with the English note printed right onto it LOL.  Reminds me of the 1/32 EE Lightning decals with all of their quirks.

Fantastic figure work Dave and in that rediculous scale as well. Better than i could do in 1/48. Funny were yacking on about blow pipes (Post WW2 jets) but i feel my next build may well be one....Stay tuned.

Those darn eduard kits can be a bit of a right Royal pain in the ar5e. As for getting the wings right. 1stly ensure that part Y9 (Dual combo kit) is securely in its right place. Verticle and square to the bottom wing. Leave it to dry properly before attaching the spar, pt X26. Another thing ithat i have done is cut the barrels off the inner canons, pts Y18,and instal them AFTER both wings are attached. This is to make the clean up of the outer wing seam easier. Even after all this, i couldnt get the wings sitting squarely and had to shave various bits off of parts Y23 Y24 Y25 Y26 and open up, ever so slightly the slots on the top wing that they fitted into. Simple....Geeez. Once youve built 3 of the things, it gets easier.

The 1st one i built, i thought it was my modelling skills, or lack of. The 2nd, i realised that it wasnt me, and the 3rd i was ready for it. All this said, you may ignore all ive said and build it beutifully. I hope so. Just come on here and tell me where i c0cked up lol,

Clebode, more or less what Guy said. I was in the same boat and thought it was my lack of skills, then I remembered that I have built some dogs and this is an Eduard kit. I put the spar and its support in at the same time (hugh mistake). Support first and let dry then the spar. I also had to thin down the wheel wells a lot as well as the gun bays. Then there is the bottom of the ammo chutes that dont come anywhere near fitting and wont slot into anything so I had to cut them off at the base. You will still have to sand down the spar and open its support notches a lot so they clear into the wing halves. Then comes the cockpit. Make sure you get the rear deck plate in flush first. Even then you will have to carefully out in the front of the firewall. I ended up sanding it back a lot. There are locator tabs in this area but I shaved them off and insured it was flush with the open gun bay. It was a day late but on Eduards website they have corrective instructions on how to get the cockpit and firewall in properly. as well as the engine mounts and engine. I believe the newer kits have the addition of the new instructions which vary greatly from my instructions. These new instructions are also online just do a search for the kit and they pop up a lot on a lot of reviews. Oh and P.S. The spar sets the correct angle for the landing gear so its imperitave that it you get it in there correct. Its actually an ingenious way to set the gear and works like a charm. Go through all the steps before assembly and you will see what I mean. Hope this wasent too long winded but not too bad in comparison to Eduards explination on how to do it.

Dave, looking good so far!!!! I see your gun deck has the same gaps mine does. Not far behind you, but as I'm finshing my 262 you will easily finish before me. So will be watching closely.

I added the stickers today.  I love working with Eduard's decals, as they always pull down nicely to the surface.  A little cutting here and there along panel lines, and they're ready for a clear coat.

Damon- ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STUFF!!!  That is one of the finest examples of the Ta-152 I have ever seen.  The paint, decals and weathering are top work.  Man, that really makes me want to build one now.  Thank you for building her here, I have enjoyed every minute of it.  I updated page 1 for you!

LOL, nope- took The Sarge's example and doubled my coffee intake.  Worked a treat!  Except for the shaking hands, ringing ears, etc.

Damon- Superb effort there, your paint work is just kick-a@@, really nice fading and weathering.
