To get the badge at the bottom of your posts, save the picture supplied by the GB moderator to your hard drive.  Then upload it into photo sharing site like Photobucket that I use.  Then click on 'Edit Your Profile' link listed on the right.  There is a box where you can add the badges but be sure to use the film icon to upload the picture.  Hope this helps...

I find that quite hard to believe! I'm already having to build up the area aft of the cockpit with putty, then sand it down to get the right profile. The nose is going to go the same way. The decals look like something the Soviets would have made in the early 60s'! I'd swear this kit was engineered with the assistance of zoo animals. I'd certainly like to have a long 'chat' with whomever created this kit. Possibly involving a soundproofed room and a very sharp pencil...

I took a break from the Bone and assembled the main rotor assembley.  It goes together quite will.  Good detail for 1/72 scale IMHO.

Nice work on the rotor assembly Kevin Yes

My military vehicles are coming along well , so I started some prliminary work and airbrushing on three modern era Korean based aircraft ;

F-16A and F-16B....

Markings on both F-16's will be "Wolf Pack" 8th TFW Kunsan AFB Korea .

Academy's A-10A ...

Markings will come from the Hasegawa A-10A kit ;

51st Operation Group , "Osan"

I'll glue the cockpit pieces in place next on all three aircraft and then glue the fuselage halves together .

I'm hoping January will be a good month to get a lot of on-going builds completed .......'hopfully'

Excellent! Some modern types! The Wolf Pack lives! There was a great novel of Second Korean War written in the late 80s, Red Phoenix by Larry Bond, who worked with Tom Clancy on Red Storm Rising. If you enjoy that sort of read, have a go at it.

Wonder if anyone will be doing an ROKAF F-4/5? I remember those from when I was in Korea - a friend of mine used to live under the flightpath of Pyeongtaek airbase, if we were talking on the phone I'd hear the F-4s' go over her house then reach mine about 5 mins later in Anseong.  Brought back happy memories of RAF Phantoms...

Anyways, out of the mists of nostalgia, the LA-11 has made progress, its mostly assembled and fits (after a fashion) together. Have spent the last two nights either putting filler on bits or sanding other bits until its starting to look like an aircraft. The Parafilm went on the canopy tonight and have a little bit more sanding to do tomorrow then its primer time!

Also took delivery of the Azur Sea Otter today, looks like a very nice kit. Fiddly but nice...

Your certainly making great work of that LA-11 , Andy .

Sorry to hear about the fit problems .

I'm about ready to mask the canopy on the Yak-9P ; Since it's a vacuform canopy it's probably better if I mask the canopy first and then glue it to the cockpit opening .

I'm a little concerned about it flexing to much if I try and mask it after glueing in position .

The missing wheels arrived the other day , so I should be able to have the Yak  finished by early next week .

Not much done of late unlike some of you guys. Needing to paint the black onto the road wheels and return rollers then start on the tracks.

I have made a start on the Amodel Yak-18 ;

The fuselage halves are ready to be glued together and then the wings ;

I'm aiming to have the Cessna O-1E , Yak-9P and Yak-18 into the spraybooth by sunday afternoon , it should be a easy paint session , with an overall olive green finish on the O-1E , gull gray overall for the 9P and overall black for the Yak-18 .

:dance:Finally some progress that I can photograph and post!!! :party: :hump:

I was able to get the base coat of Xtra Colour Bronze Green on just about everything!!! So now everything is one painted color. Unfortunately, two of the three pics I took did not come out very well focused. But one gets the idea. I also was able to get a coat of MM Metalizer Steel on the inner surface of the tracks. But that really was nothing to take a pic of...

Starting to near the home stretch...

Hey all!

Giving serious thought to next building an M-7 in 1/72-6 scale and an M-30.  I've got both the Matchbox/Revell kit and the Nitto/Fujimi kit for the M-7.  Also using the Nitto/Fujimi M-30 for this.  Which M-7 do you guys think would go best?  I'm going to be pairing them up together as a vignette.  Should I do the Matchbox (more figures) and M-30 (closed up) or should I do the Nitto/Fujimi kits together all opened up and make it a summer season type of vignette?

All serious comments will be accepted.  :)  And thanx in advance!

Harley anyone?

I gots four Nitto/Fujimi 1/76-2 scale Harley Davidson bikes with riders, and one Academy without rider.  No instructions, but they're bloody damned obvious!  They're free, you send me a couple USD or a couple thousand KRW to cover postage.  That's all I ask.  We can do by Paypal if you prefer!  Contact me off-line at landrew.hill a t live.com if you're interested.

Andy, did either side use motorcycles?  Very interesting...

As for my lucky find of the week:  I was out looking for a Squadron A-20 in Action book for another GB, and instead I found an old Squadron book titled "USN/USMC Over Korea".  It doesn't really cover any new ground than the other Squadron books I have, but it is inspirational and has some (more) cool profiles and some color pictures.

Cheers,

Greg

I've fallen a little behind schedule , I spent all day yesterday [Sunday] replacing the laundry tub .

I thought it was going to be a two hour job but it took all day with several trips back and forth to the hardware store Angry

A lot of my armor and vehicle builds are ready for final assembly , I pretty much just need to add the wheels and a few other bits and pieces and their ready to roll ; DUKW ,4x4 ,M3A1, M-16, two jeeps from the Academy P-51D kits . The Churchill AVRE is also ready for final assembly and I have pre painted all the parts for the Airfix Churchill Mk-VII tank and thats ready to go together....

I decided to put together one of the Italeri fast assembly M-7's ;

I now have the M-7, 2.5 ton truck and carrier tow vehicle ready for final assembly , I've pre painted all the parts on an Airfix M3A1 and Trailer and academy's ambulance so those two are ready to start glueing together ....

I didn't get the two Yak's and Cessna O-1E into the spraybooth as planned , I'm still yey to mask the canopies so hopfully in the next day or two .

Re:  The Harleys

Nope, none with sidecars.  Although, I don't suppose it'd be too difficult to scratch one up...  I kinda wonder if maybe I ought to keep two of 'em to try?  Hmm

Andrew and Stikpusher: Almost there guys, I love that part since it's when the AFV starts really coming together and you can see how she's going to come out.

Draken: The bikes sound really cool, looking forward to seeing them - sidecars or no sidecars.

John: Dang man- I think you have more hardware there than the UN and the Soviet Bloc forces deployed combined! Great stuff, keep 'em coming my friend.

Not much to report here, have been working on the base. It still looks like a slab of wood with plaster on it though. I'll post photos when get to the landscaping stuff. Two of the arms disappeared off the the two civvies I've been working on so work there is unfortunately suspended until the limbs show up again Sad

Wow, everyone is getting busy, John where do you find the room to put all this stuff??? I only have space to display about 25 models! Stikpusher, Im looking forward to seeing that Centurion all done.

Not much to report on the LA-11, the weekend was spent at a friends house warming party and then recovering from said friends house warming party. Ohh the ills of rum...but its now all primed, I have to put some more filler around the cockpit and sand down again then re-prime. Started painting the undercarriage and the prop too. Being doing more on the model railway and commissions last week, built three French tanks in a week!

Im also going to plug a couple of the things here - Ive just finished reading Andrew Salmons' book 'To the last Round - the epic British stand on the Imjin river, Korea 1951'. Very well written book which I can greatly recommend to anyone interested. And some useful pics of 8th Hussars Centurions too.

Also I have three entries in the Modelling Madness 'Korean War competition - the first three Pics too! Your votes would be greatly appreciated...

Andy [Dr Win] ;

I am very fortunate to have an entire upstairs living area to myself and my hobby .

At the top of the stairs there is a nice corner display cabinet I built a while back ...

Along side that cabinet is this one...

I'm hoping this coming March when my brother takes his 4 weeks holidays , he will be able to keep an eye on my elderly parents [ I'm a full time carer for them] and I will get some time to build a new display cabinet all the way across the front wall to replace the current cabinet and bookshelf , full height and width of the room ...

I also converted one of the back rooms down stairs where I have the indoor spraybooth and shelving around the walls for my 800+ stash of kits .

I'm one very , very lucky modeller !!!

Wow John those are fantastic! Wish I had somewhere to put my stuff, once I finish it I take photos for the website, show it off at our local hobby club, and then it gets packed in a box and put in the basement. Sad

I've made some progress on the F-16A and B as well as the A-10A ;

I'll add the pilots after the builds are complete ;

Next I'll glue the fuselage halves together and add the wings , tail fin and tail planes .

Hey Guys:

i was visiting another forum this morning and came across this tip:

"I masked the nav lights using Elmers glue. Once painting was finished, I simply touched the lights with a piece of masking tape and the dried Elmers lifted right up, after which I painted the port light clear red and the starboard light clear blue."

Has anyone tried this and if so, what were your results ?? ...

Thanks,

pepper

Hey John, I guess I'm helping keep your GB at the top of the pile right now - I swear, I have the EXACT SAME TILE in my bathroom (I'm in Canada) - apparently one of us is using fancy imported tiles, I just can't tell who!

Pepper, due to the simmering crisis going on in Korea since last Spring when the North sank that South Korean ship, I also allowed entries of stuff that is currently in Theater in Korea, in case it goes "hot" again there. Technically the war is still on- a cease fire only, no peace treaty. Modern stuff has to be Korean, or US marked in the area- 2nd ID, Osan AFB, etc.
