Eatthis I have to comment on your preshading after looking at the pictures trying to decide which one to post on the front page. Your preshading did work out very well indeed, I can see it especially on the top of the wing, very faint but its there and really adds to the used effect I believe you were shooting for. May I request a picture from the side but a bit higher than the one you posted so it will show off a bit of the top of the wing along with the side shot ? I think a shot like that would do your build justice and show it off much better.

Eatthis I like it a lot The TSR2 looks well used but not over done so much that it looks neglected. The cannon in the belly really makes it look intimidating to say the least. Gotta love the what if aspects of your build.

Supressionfire your tank just keeps getting better and better, love all the extra detail and work you are putting into it. The figure looking out the ( for lack of a better word ) port hole is a masterful touch.

Well its tomorrow and here are the updated WIP's:

The rear fenders thinned with added detail to the tool / stowage box. I like green painter's tape sticky side up for smaller parts, only of the hold is strong enough to resist them flying off from the 'rattle can after burners.

With much toiling and fiddling the figure is positioned in the lower hull. He will be 'peeking out' the side cut-out.

Road wheels painted, track teeth highlighted with a 'gun metal mix of flat black & silver enamel. More to be added later, rust and final bare metal added with a soft Pb pencil.

Radio units added behind the seated figure, he will be 'listening in'. Cables are horse hair blackened w/ a black felt marker.

Evolution of a MG 34. I broke down and stole a PE part from a 1/32 scale Mustang. I had to have it and besides it is from a vent on the plane not in plain sight, it will be replaced with fine mesh. The cooling jacket was formed over a # 76 drill bit, annealed first. Being on the top of the tank its a important detail.

Thats it! See saving up WIP's looks like I have been busy, well sort of over a few weeks.

Being Canadian I really like the markings, the functioning canopy is also a neat feature to display and keep the dust out between showings. Great job!

iv had a disaster with the decals the numbers at the front (023) folded over on themselves and iv knackered em trying to sort it :( also the red stripe that runs from the intake back didnt adhere properly and has ripped grrrr

tbh i think i may have buried it anyway in hindsight i shouldve primed it then preshaded then top coat. when i did 1 top coat it didnt cover the white base colour very well.

shes almost finished a few small piecces to fit then a final laquer coat and shes done il get the pics up tomorow shes bloody grubby but i like it

Heh fellas its a seasonal lull in activity. Up here in Canada it was thanksgiving weekend, I was 3000 miles away from the bench visiting family & friends. Its hard to take a extended break and pick up the last sessions inspiration & thoughts. Give me a few days & Chwat will get rolling again.

Your aircraft is looking great! The pronounced pre-shading will pay off. So many do this step too faint and it gets lost in the top coat.

Nomad68 Calyspo is looking good, a very nice touch drilling out the portholes. Rigging a ship can be an intimidating task but when I was doing it I looked at one line at a time, instead of the whole rigging job at once, that and taking ones time makes it fairly easy to do and believe it or not quite fun. I am looking forward to seeing more from you.

Eatthis the forum seems to have slowed down a bit of late, but that happens from time to time. I gotta say each one of your TSR builds looks more intimidating than the last. This one takes the cake with that cannon hanging on her belly geeze. Looks like you are really getting the hang of preshading too, lookin good there buddy

you can see where i flattened the nose off by the canopy there

the nose reminds me a little of a phantom/tornado

more progress pics im actually really happy with a couple of things iv done so far on this.

iv made/bodged a full gau-8 gun/cannon/bloody great buzzsaw together which fits absolutely perfectly in the bay (wouldve been fantastic for scareing the bears away)

iv also modified the pilots instrument panel and cover as it was the kit 1 looks waaaaay to high by my reckoning the pilot woould have zero forward visibility iv lowered it quite a bit and im much happier about it i may even do the same on the original tsr i did.

the nose was a 32 scale 2200 gal fuel tank i chopped up the reason being i doubt very much the awg-9 (necessary) wouldve fitted in the rather slim nose of the tsr2

I got some more work done on the Calypso. This is the first ship model I have ever built and am enjoying it very much, of course I have not started rigging yet that looks scary. I drilled out the round and square windows on the lower deck and used clear parts cement to make windows. I think it turned out great. I have a few pics to share let me know what you think open to sugestions.

made some progress with this
the gun is a gau 8!! the barrel and the ammo drum were used and the pod was made using a drop tank which happens to be exactly the same diameter as the drum. the whole assembly also happens to be exactly the same length i havnt had to shorten it at all its an absolutely perfect fit purely by coincidence! it looks like the bay was made specifically for this gun

i made a mistake when i cut the fuel tank i used a hacksaw which has left a flat ridge from head on if i had drilled it out that wouldnt happen doh too late now

Eatthis I have no idea what kind of gun that is other than to say its a big one that I would not wish to be on the wrong end of. Cant wait to see where your build goes.

Nomad68 nice work on the railings very nice. This build is going to be bringing back some fond childhood memmories.

Hey everyone ! You guys are making some cool stuff in here Jeremy love the Flamingo, and SF your Hetzer is amazing. I made new railings on the boat I struggled with this I glued little pieces of aluminum and plastic rod to make the railing. There has got to be a better way to do this any Ideas would be welcome If I ever try this again. Below are some WIP pics let my know what you think.

Looks like a Gatling gun! 20 or 37mm I guess. 

Chwat is progressing well, here are some WIP's:

The 75mm gun painted up, forgot to add some scratches before mounting in the upper hull, all good a few can be added with tweezers & a bit of abrasive pad.

This picture shows the color difference between the 'Krylon Buttercup' and the wash of oil based Raw Sienna applied over a coat of Future. Scratches have been added with a #11 blade in the hull but not the gun yet.

Modified figure to sit inside listening to the two way radio. His face sculpt was like the standing figure, a more pronounced jaw line, cheeks and mouth have been added with a #10 blade & a surgeons knife. The eye sockets were carved out a tad well.

right iv started the 1/48 pheonix armed interceptor variant of the tsr 2.

the pheonix arnt the most silly part of the build that honour resides in the bomb bay (it just happens to fit like a glove too)

can you tell what it is yet? ;)

I'm trying to finish up some other builds and I get to work on the Flamingo a little at a time in between other things. The cowling face was molded solid so I decided to open it up like the real thing.

I started by drilling some holes in it so that I could squeeze an Xacto in there to finish carving it out.

Now that it's open, I need to worry about what to put behind it to represent the engine. I also need to figure out what to do for the landing light which is the rectangle recess at the bottom. Until next time!

SF, man that is really shaping up nicely! When I build my next armor piece, I know who to go to in regards to weathering techniques that are realistic. Just a stunning build so far!

I've got two of the bulkhead structures assembled for the Albatros (one for the engine mount and one for the 'pit). Hoping to get more done on the office in the coming days and get some pics posted. Have to say I'm really enjoying this GB!

The lower hull was more of a 'get it covered' approach with a heavy brown wash. The good news is the 'sun fade' is actually working, I will keep Chwat in the kitchen window a few more days while working on painting the 75mm gun and some of the fiddly bits. I want to use the kits figures, all ready filed down the commanders German hat to look civilian, will keep his head set & position him inside 'listening in' The other figure will stand outside with binoculars and possibly inspecting captured ammunition. Oh and will need to scratch build skirt armor! Hopefully will have Chwat wrapped up by months end and can start on the street barricade scene.

A lot to do over a small lump of tan plastic...

Supressionfire the weathering on the roadwheels and tracks came out great to my eye, and the bits of the power hull I can see with the muck and crud on it really looks as if it is real.

Tanks buddy! The gun interior is a tad over scale but I am going use it regardless, thinking white paint on a white interior will camouflage its size enough.

I wanted to lighten the overall paint by letting the sun do the work, unfortunately its forecast to rain for a few days. So far the Achilles heel seems to be the remote MG shield half which has broken off for the third time... should have scratched it in metal! 

Tackled the lower hull, a sloppy wash of acrylic Tamiya flat brown & a dab of flat black here and there. Tracks & behind the road wheels was subjected to this. Then chased with a flat black enamel wash on the tracks, some got on the road wheels which was ok. Before dry some abrasive weathering was done to the wheels in a round action, using abrasive scouring pads.

i changed it around a bit the 1/72 tsr2 is the ground pounder il do the 1/48 as the cf109 :) im intending to try something that may well be way beyond me (and frankly a bit mental) but il find out when iv finished the tonka :)
