Paweł,

Awesome reference picture buddy!

I have searched the 'net and never seen that photograph before. It will help a huge amount to get the details correct for this moment in time.

Trust me Pawel I remember favors & hope to return the good will one day!

Its what I love about group builds, how many of us would research trashcan styles or vintage trash cans on our own I ask you.

Thanks for your posting Pawel Toast

some great stuff in here!

V-man, can you add me to the GB? I will build the ARII 1:700 scale HMS Trafalgar, this time in water and with SB masts. I just finished one (Trafalgar) for the Anti-Submarine GB. Some "no aftermarket" stuff to share:

making props out of wine foil:

couple tic tac boxes + sand + rocks =

add clear tubing and you get a sub stand:

cheers

Thanks Randy for the kind words...ToastThe Eduard one is the same scheme but with it's engine and gun panels opened up...The BMW 801 supplied in the kit is a very nice peice of work (not as nice as Aires or vector resin ones) and i've added the ignition leads and some piping to fill a void under the fueselage guns so hopefully it will look the part....

Agreed, great job on the 190 Julez72!

Hopefully I can get some WIP's posted this weekend. Not getting as much 'bench time' as would like but such is life. After the main elements are secured on the vignette the cool little scratch built details will be next, first off out of them is the garbage cans!

Randy, i'm gonna hook into another one here but if it's ok i'd like to cross it over with the weathering GB seeing as how i'm weathering it differently.....

Stik gave me the idea, i'll use clear tube and have it going over a muddy bottom...I've ordered verlindens sunken rowboats to inbed into the muddy bottom and i have a couple off 44 gallon drums i'll half bury as well.....Pity i can't find a walmart or Kmart shopping cart in 35scale to add as well ehWhistling

Julez72,

What B-29 kit are you building? Also which thread are you posting WIP's of said B-29 in?

Postal cont...

Well the weekend did not bless me with enough time at the bench as usualIndifferent

I think the solution is a bigger house as my minuscule work bench is parked in the bedroom, hence no all night hobby sessions or random build times.

One detail that I wanted to include is the statues of bears looking down at the street. Most buildings have Gargoyles yet this building has a pair of bears.

They serve two purposes, one as a foreshadow to the fate of 'Chwat' (building collapsed disabling the vehicle) and the fate of Warsaw & the Uprising. The Russians halted their drive west outside of Warsaw, waiting for the resistance & Germans to slug it out before continuing. One initiative for the Uprising to begin was the agreement the Russians would arrive to fight along with the resistance.

Took a hour and had to look in two dollar stores but I found two 'bear sculpts' (variety package of toy animals) For the king's sum of 1$ each package I threw down 2.30$  (15% tax) and here is the results:

These bears would be perfect for 1/48 scale yet I pressed on making the stance short as possible:

Here is the vignette positioned on the display base. Still debating wood window frames or styrene...

The B-29 is the Revell/Monogram 1/48 kit, i'ts in the NMFII gb but progress is....wellSnailI'll pick up the pace once i clear the 190's from the bench...

Tanks Julez!

Bought some scale wood for the window frames, should be faster that cutting down thin strips salvaged from the boss's wood shop. 1/87 scale (HO) 2x2", 2x3" and 2x4" Basically its better as a few frames were shot up as battle damage dictates. Plastic would just not look good enough.

All that being said I broke out a IL II Stormovik kit (Accurate Miniatures) as a break from 'Chwat' and the months of toiling with scratch built stuff. I cannot say it will be no AM as I have a set of Squadron's True Details resin wheels. Too bad as I wanted to scratch build skis instead, can't let the resin jems go to waste...

So...

May be a while before the vignette is finished, also family matters have me heading 3000 miles west for a unknown amount of time, could be two weeks or two months.

Julez I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your 190 the markings really make it stand out.

Got more clean up done on the F-16 yesterday, loads of flash and mold lines on this kit leme tell ya, and got some gray and clear coat on the pit sidewalls and IP. Last night I was going to add some decals to the IP and found a very strange thing. The decals are wrong and not too good ( I don't think Revell did their homework on this kit ). So decided to paint and dry brush the raised detail in the pit. Low and behold from the pictures I got off the net to use as a paint guide I found that the raised detail is a mirror image of what it should be Censored Bang HeadCensored So now I have to come up with plan C. I have figured out the burner can thing, they lack any kind of detail and are in dire need of some being so large in 1/32 scale, and I don't want it to look like a huge black hole. I would like to get your opinion on a paint scheme for this build, I have been thinking of a camo scheme similar to what I Spitfire has on it, the earth brown and dark green, or a Tiger Meet scheme. Of course both would be a what if kinda thing.

Julez – great pair of Butcher’s for sure, love the paint job. Look forward to that Biber!

SuppFire – I like the idea, nice job on the bears! Good luck “West” and look  forward to your build (and the IL-2, one of my faves)

V-man – Mike Grant decals has new Jet IP decals, including 1:32; I have not ordered them but they look sweet:

Jmart thanks for letting me know about the decals but I cant use them for this build unless they come from another kit. But I have come up with plan 3 thanks to the internet and my trusty printer. I just have to do some more work with Paintshop and I will be good to go Yeah

i started this about 3 weeks ago i didnt post any progress pics because im lazy lol i leave it to the discretion of the mods weather or not this is a valid entry :)

the front half of the gun is nicked off a phantom (no idea how im gonna replace it yet lol) the rear is scratched from a raptor pod and plenty of filler

imho the tsr2 is 1 of the most beautiful jets ever made and i reckon the gun suits it down to the ground i hope you like it as its probably my favourite model to date

and advice/criticism is welcome as always :)

ps im happy with the stand design too it just popped into my head at 1 am 1 night lol

its adjustable for pitch and roll and only uses 4 pieces of wood (iv got some 18mm mdf lying around so iv used that) its simple but works really well and the tolerances are tight enough so the backplate holds itself in postion really well

Eatthis I would think you do love the TRS-2s Big Smile and are a master at building them, your build is in and the front page is updated. I do like the way you are displaying it and each looks better than the last. Well done for sure. I dont know why but each time I see one I cant help but think of the movie Firefox.

Julez cant wait to see your sub come together, I havent seen a complete resin build up till yours. They look like nice moldings too.

Thanks Randy...

The moldings are superb, i'm not sure if it's visible in the pics but the whole hull has a slightly rippled look which i think is a good representation of hull plating...There is also some very well molded weld seams on the hull as well as some nice rivet detail...Havn't had a chance to compare it to the Italeri new release injection molded Biber but i'm happy with what i'm seeing...My only gripe would be the windows or lack of in the conning tower thingy but i should be able to deal with that with some future coats...

I've made some more progress, here's a WIP report....

I've removed all the parts from the pouring stubs and have started gluing the sub together....

WIP pics...

I've done the rudder actuating arm, verlinden provided a plastic rod which had to be heated and shaped into the right shape, you can see by the big pile of dud bits that it took a few attempts to get right...The semicircular brass etch part is supposed to go in front of the conning tower but is a complete misfit so i had to make a new one from plastic that can be seen in the second pic...
