Casper the Chihuahua

Ok, here's a weird question....

Has anyone ever had experience with wheels cracking? It's happened to the HE162 and it also happened to the Meteor. Both times I had affixed the wheels to the landing gear and after a couple of days the wheels had cracked almost through the middle.

Starnge inded...

Cheers

I could imagine the fit was too tight? Best thing i can up with for now lol... What glue do you use? Some people complain that the revell contacta glue i use is too agressive and turns plastic liquid but thats only when you use a heck of alot on itSmile Maybe something like that...?

All things (and my rambling) considered.......no i have no clueBig Smile

Hi Kermit, didn't think I'd jammed the wheel in too hard but you never know. I usually use CA glue for little greeblies like wheels and things.

Anyway, got a bit of work done today, gap filling, canopy masked and on and masking done;

After some pre-shading, RLM light Blue;

The both RLM light green and RLM violet brown;

Got her supported on her side to re attach the wheels. You can clearly see the crack on the port wheel.

Might have time to do the decals tomorrow but we'll see.

Cheers

The Salamander is in! I feel personally I may have rushed this one a little, a little bit of sloppy work that usually I spend a little more time on but I am happy with the engine. Some of the PE was quite fiddly and some of the parts didn't have the best fit. I was also a bit lazy with the ejector pin marks in some spots Stick out tongue

But anyways, this is the first of five Luftwaffe kits I have to build in the next few months. Next is a JU 88 C-6, Dornier 335A, Bf 110 and the big 1/32 Eduard Bf 109

Enjoy!

Cheers

Casper nice work on that Salamander man YesYes The way you have displayed the engine with its added detail really sets it apart. The pit looks good as does the worn paint around the flaps and ailerons.  Toast

BTW I really like your design of the holding fixture you used in the previous pictures I will have top try that one Clown As for the wheels cracking I haven't had it happen nor have I heard of it happening. Sure is a head scratcher I am thinking. I will update the front page with your build shortly.

Thanks Vetteman! She was a fun little build, not the best offering I've seen from Dragon but some good stuff non the less. I bought the new 1/48 Bf-110 Dragon kit and that kit is AWESOME!! So much detail in the parts it's unbelievable and I've ordered the Eduard in and exterior kits for it. Stay tuned in the Nightfighter GB for the progress on that one.

Cheers

Casper, that Volksjaeger looks really nice! Last week I even was in that part of Germany where they put them together in the salt mines (so that the assembly line can't be bombed). Keep 'em comin' & have a nice day

Well Tyler is at his moms house for the week so i've managed to do some work on the Biber instead of supervising his Stuka build...

I preshaded with black before painting the grey and then added some postshading with a darker shade which is hard to see under the futures shine but is there. i'll give it all a day to dry and then start adding some washes and rust ect....

im trying ALOT iv never done before heres some pics of the flaps and pit modifications

iv given up trying to pivot the flaps iv decided to make them movable to either up or down by putting pins in the wing and 2 sets of holes in the flaps hopefully theyl be discreet enough

Well I see Eatthis is working another TSR-2-ET in an interesting configuration, cant wait to see how this one turns out Eats Sorry you coulnt get the flaps working as you wanted them to but hey they look great to my eye. BTW I like the idea that you can pose them in 2 positions too.

Julez OH YEAH ! I have been waiting to see your 190 finished, as you know I really like the paint job on the  cowling. The rest of the paint and color scheme is top notch too, very nice weathering and attention to detail, a nice touch on the step too painting the red side rails. Well done sir well done. Toast

Looks like you are getting close on the Biber too , sweet.

Sorry I have been gone for so long all, health issues keep popping up and hopefully will be solved soon.

for rescribing I use a broken xacto blade (tip snapped off works best for some reason) and a steady hand with tape guidelines.

Now that I'm here, where am I??
