Weekend Madness III - COMPLETED see pg1 for pics

Ahhh... weekend is here

Already i see very nice stuff on here and even some quite ambitious projects like mr. squid's build.

I have just mixed up the interior color paint and started up Discovery channel's "Great Planes" episode about the mig 15 to get me in the right mood Work will commence soon now...

Grrrr.....well, I'm not really sure what went wrong.  I've used Tamiya spray cans in the past with great success.  Maybe the Tamiya primer that I sprayed on earlier this am hadn't cured....or I got a bad can of white....whatever, it didn't want to adhere.  So everything has gone into a Simple Green bath, along with some chrome parts to be de-chromed.

I've got a can of Tamiya Mica blue & silver leaf that I need to test on a piece of plastic...if not, then it's a trip to the LHS for some Testor's lacquer...used it in the past-requires no primer. 

Always good to have a backup plan....

Tony not many parts at all, but I think my little Focke-wolf has less (when I get it started )

Well good luck on that enterprise Mr.Squid, but you are a very naughty boy for what you are about to do to that LAV.

The good first, looks BUFF to me

Now the Bad, Not a kit designed to be built wheels up, plus look at fit of the engine nacelles to the wings, PUTTY TIME (not fun ) and want to get it done before bed eek

Okay- gonna try something different. My very FIRST Ma.K. build.

And it's not even one of the kits.

 Going after an AFS Recovery Vehicle which will be inspired by a Kow sketch. Inspired by, not to be exact.

The six wheeled vehicle and I've gathered some kits from my stash that I think will help me get there.

Wish me luck since it'll be a lot to get done in this time frame but what the heck- I think I'll try! After all, what are weekends for if not to ,"Go down in flames!" Just popped a couple of bigger parts off their sprues so far and started to lay things out for feasibility. So, let my clock start now! (7:30AM Friday.)

Good morning all.

Body & other parts have been primed.  Debating whether to strip the chrome or not.  I have to take the car in for routine service so I'll have a few hours to debate it....along with the color of the body.

Did get a surprise this am-I was cleaning out the kitchen sink and found a part that came off the spruce when I was washing the parts last night.....

Well Dave I will be adding some scratch built goodies to the kit. Trust me this will be a challenge as my builds take a long time. On month 4ish of a 1/72 scale Hetzer....

Well 12 hours down and about 9 hours wasted used for family duties, dramas and issues, not happy

Wings and body together on the Buff, havnt had time to touch the other build yet

Anyways heres progress pics, I had a stand from a an old build hanging round and the wheels/undercarriage on this kit looks like crud I decided to use it

I drilled a hole at the centre of gravity using my engraver.

Time to start on the engines

Here is a picture of the kit's contents. Nothing has been glued or tweaked other than being cut from a few sprues. Main hull and turret is just dry fitted for photograph. All barrels will be replaced with hypodermic needles:

Instructions, all two steps and no PE call outs!

I've decided my build isn't challenging enough.  Scratch the Rafale B and put me down for the Mach 2 X-13, divine scale of course.

I'd like to see it hollowed out, and a fully detailed, scratch built interior  fitted to it.

 I didn't plan to but if my current mood continues I just might although I have no idea with what?

Oh goodie goodie! It's friday morning here. This weekend is gonna be fun fun fun!

Will get started once i come home from work. Everything is still bagged and boxed and i only took out the instruction sheet to get a plan of attack going. I am SO looking forward to this one...

great work sofar everybody. And doesn't that tank look cute. Never knew you could buy armor in 1/144th.... hell, i thought 1/72 was tiny for a tank...

Well 21/2 hour mark, I got the canopies of both planes dunked in future then had to take a one hour break due to 'parental responsabilities" Then managed to get the Buff's cockpit done, on lunch break now

Everything's lined up here: kit,, paint, tools, strategy, and audio-visual background noise.  Ready to go after I get home from work tomorrow night and get a little time to decompress.

I've just been asked to play my first game of cricket in 3 years, which will eat up 6 hours of Saturday afternoon, and countless hours of pain as I recover. However, I'm staying in, it's just a bit more challenging.

I've also managed to get a commitment tonight, which means a late start tonight. WIll probably be 11pm before I get home, start then.. That's in just under 11 hours.

Im still 23 hours away from starting. 

Still sorting paints, and formulating colours, and havn't cleaned the overspray out of the spraybooth yet.

I'll be popping down to the LHS shortly, so if you need anything, let me know.

I see everyone else is ready for the jump-off.

I still have no idea as to how much home work I'll have, but I do have a semi-kit to work on : an Athern RTR (Ready to re-build) bulkhead flat car.

I'm going to remove the trucks and couplers, do some wethering, and I'm going to scratch-build a steel-plate load for the deck. I'll have photos up tomorrow.

I'll start Friday afternoon, and then I plan to wrap up Sunday afternoon after lunch.

Well, 10.37am here. I'll mark kick off for 11am giving me till 11am Sunday

The Battlezone, cleaned and prepped last night (clean as its been a 6months at least) I even cleaned my airbrush overspraying off the desk

Well some last minute problems (OK santa has some unexpected sale items to pick up) means I loose quite a bit of build time on Saturday. Because of this I'm going to change one of my builds. Still going to stick with the F-190 Egg Plane but I'm going to swap out the Lancia Delta (had concerns about paint drying times anyways) and will swap in my Dragon B-52H 1/200. She should turn out a decent size even in this scale.

Its now Friday here but I'll wait till after brekkie before I start

Well, it's still a toss-up for me. I have some homework due on Monday, but, mabe, with some luck, I can get it finished tonight, and I not get any homework Friday, and I can do it.

Since I have Tomorrow (Veteran's Day) off from school, I'll figure out which kit I'll do, form an attack plan, and take stock, and see if I have everything.
