Dang, that sucks Racedriver. Hope you can get a replacement for it eventually.
Dave
Hey Dave gotta change my build from the Razorback to the 1/72 Academy F4U-1 Corsair, the P-47 is missing the canopy.
Brett I've just finished my Tamiya 1/48 Panther if you want to check it out in armor, I did notice one issue you may want to note. The instructions say cut the tow cable to 90mm, I believe this to be in error as I used the suggested length and mine came up rather short.
Andrew
Jason, cool! I like the look of the Marders. I built a UM Su-122 awhile back and don't remember anything out of the ordinary. A bit of parts clean up was required and lots of fiddly detail as per normal with 1/72 scale but should be a great build.
ok dave i'm in with a 1/72 marder lll ausf h from um models.
should take me the full 48 with link and length tracks and photo etch.
should be fun..!!!
anybody built any of these kits before?
jason
if you want permission for a test flight.... the answer is "no".
razordws Kugai: I've updated the front page with your build. Is that the Revell kit?
Kugai: I've updated the front page with your build. Is that the Revell kit?
Yep, that's the one.
Brett: changes made!
Brett well done mate. I have the Panther G at about 85% done at the moment, and the hardest part was picking a nice paint scheme LOL. One word though the turret is VERY close to the main deck and can scratch the paint work if your not careful.
Hi All
We had the South Australian Scale Model Expo, here on the weekend. I entered my weekend build from last year, and took out first place in the 1/48th AFV division.

I entered my weekend build from last year, and took out first place in the 1/48th AFV division.
So on the back of that, I have decided to change my build to something similar. So if you wouldn’t mind, Dave, could you change my kit to…
1/48 Tamiya Panther G.
Thanks
Brett
Railfan: I'll keep my fingers crossed for you but like I always tell my own kids, homework always comes first! (what a drag, I know)
razordws BUMP! Two weeks to go! It's sneaking up on us fast!
BUMP! Two weeks to go!
It's sneaking up on us fast!
REALLY!?!? Oh, boy.
I hate to tell you all this, but, unless there's a miracle, I'm not going to be in this one. For about the past month or so, I have a boatload of homework (writing essays, using good (1/2-1 page long) paragraphs) every weekend
SO, I got no earthly idea as to wether or not I'll even be participating, nevermind a kit. I should know by that Friday afternoon wether or not I'll be in.
Red, White, and YOU! group build of 2010
Oh, !!! I still haven't gotten my kit!
Ok, I'm planning on building the 1:144 B-2. Judging from the 1:72 version I built years ago, I figure it shouldn't bee too much for a 48-hour project.
yep....i just lost it!
Dupes, If Ole Sarge (who has since been banned from this site) can build a 1/48 Tamiya Lancaster in less than 48 hours last year then anything is possible to those who put their minds to it.
Andrew, just hope your wife doesn't try to scramble it for breakfast!
Jason, welcome aboard and good luck with your son. I lost that battle a long time ago!
hey guys hows it going,
been away for a while. i think the last group build i was in was the p-51 build. well since then i have
moved and bought a house. finally i am starting to get back to modeling again.
count me in for this one,not sure what i'll be building yet, going to talk to my son and see if he wants to do
this also.
need to get him away from the video games.
thanks.
jason.
Well got my pakage today, do I have to wait 2 1/2 weeks till I can play with them, the missus is already makes moves on the egg plane LOL. I wont be painting the Lancia standard colour, I'll being painting it yellow as per the Lancia Delta from Your're Under Arrest, one of my fave anime series
Looking at that front page, there's some pretty gutsy 48-hour builds there...can't wait to see how they turn out!
Also can't wait to see what I finally decide on.

Front page updated Buddy! Great Choice!
Dave,
Through much contemplation of the fuzz in my navel (and a nice score at the club auction tonight), I have finally decided what my kit will be. The kit in question will be the 1/72 Italeri Rafale B in French markings from the 2007 Tiger Meet.
Kugai,
Don't let the hard time we gave Frank dictate what kit you choose. It was just some good natured fun between shipmates.
By the way, it looks like the CAG is back aboard ship.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
Kugai, a B2 sounds pretty cool and I can't imagine it being that simple of a kit.
Brett, cool eggplane! I believe Frank did a Corsair eggplane for last year!
Hutchhd: Welcome aboard.
SFM: Sorry to hear that but I understand. Life gets busy sometimes.
Racedriver: excellent choice. I love those Academy kits and I even have that one in the stash.
razordws Welcome Racedriver. Let me know when you decide on a build.
Welcome Racedriver. Let me know when you decide on a build.
I have decided on the Academy P-47 Razorback in 1/72 scale.
Yeah, I'm looking at my schedule, and the more I think about this, the less likely it is I'll even have a free 24 hours, much less 48. So, with deep regret, I'm gonna have to drop out of the running this year. Junior year at my school is a lot more in depth than senior year, so I may very well have time next year, fingers crossed! I'm still looking forward to seeing how the rest of y'all do, so I'll be watching from the sidelines. Have fun guys!

On the Bench: 1/48 Eduard Avia B-534 Series IV, Cyber Hobby Messerschmidt Bf-109 E-4
Count me in....I have a 1:48 Tamiya FW-190
Hutch

In queue: 1:48 Academy F-4B & a TBD Eric Hartmann bird

Ahh, now is clear (thanks to the pic mostly). Only images I've seen are these ones
Not needing an intricate cammo. Same marking different paint scheme.
Hi Andrew
The silly putty worked a treat for me.
once the blue underside was painted, I laid out a sheet of the silly putty on the underside. When the build was turned over...the putty provided a great workstand. It was super easy to peel back off the horizontal surfaces. (right up to the edge of the wing)was able to be contoured easily between the wing and the tail plane.
As the camo was a 2 colour job, I wanted a good mask that I could spray at many different angles, without leaking.
It did, however create a hard mask line (which I wanted anyway).
anyway... just a suggestion. (or a different technique to consider)
Cheers
Still trying to decide on a kit here. At this point my usual mecha and Trek subjects are out ( no way I se of getting them done in 48 hours ). I'm thinking aircraft. Though I'm considering a 1:144 B-2 kit, I'll have to see if it's too simple to make sure I don't end up with the ribbing I saw over the V-2 kit a while back!
Maybe a 1:72 figter? I do have a few including a Rafale that have been sitting in the stash forever.
You sound rather busy Brett.
May I ask the why the suggestion for silly putty? Being a soft mask line I would of just elevated some paper using a small bit of bluetac to create the soft line.
I'm intrested, did one of these couple years ago and had a blast. Not sure of subject yet but will post as soon as I know.
