Owl. .love your pink masking materials !Yes

haha, thanks! The pink stuff are heart-shaped post-it notes. I needed something not so sticky to cover the wings with, and making tape would have peeled the paint up.

 Gamera:

Casper and Owl: Wow you two are rocking!!! Great looking work and wish I could move half that fast! It's so hot and humid I've been coming home from work, turning on the A/C and taking a nap Embarrassed

Thats whats usually referred to as a nana nap around here lol.

Good to know there are other lazy bums like me. Thanks Scorpy, I think I'm going to start using that term myself!

Decals are done. They behaved very well despite a couple of spots where Microsol ate through a paint layer. I'll fix those bits up or weather with silver.

Cheers

the decals are in progress, but here is a partly decaled 262, to give a baseline to compare with the weathering I'll apply. The decal sheet did not come with a swastika, and I don't have one in the spares, so the 262 will be inaccurate in that respect.

Owl looks great ,wish they would put the full decal set in the kits and let the builders decide what they want to leave off

The problem is that Germany has a law about displaying the swastika.  Or rather it is not to be displayed at all except in rare historical instances.  Not sure about the exactness of that but it is because of that law.

Many kits these days have the "S" greyed out or omitted all together.  Others have the "S" split up in the decal set but there so you can "manage" to put one on if you desire.  Other manufacturers have a decal sheet where the "S" is located on a corner or a part that is easily trimmed off.

Sad that in cases where a modeler is building something for historical accuracy they are forced to deal with damned political correctness, or the "we are so afraid to hurt someone's feelings" mentality.

Geez (soapbox rant here) No body has the right to never be offended. So many people these days are so afraid to say some little thing that "MIGHT" offend a person. Stick out tongue

Anyway that is the reason.Dead

WOW , Awesome work on both the Sea Venom and the 262 , I really like the camouflage work on the 262 , I was thinking of doing something similar with a T-6 Texan for the Korean War GB .

As for me it has been a bit of a slow week getting things done on my aircraft builds .

I finally have the Testors 1/72 B-57G Canberra masked and ready for the spraybooth first thing tomorrow morning ...

I'll start with a few light coats of flat white first seeing that the kit plastic is green , the white may assist being a bit of a base coat to help the Tan (FS30219) get better coverage over the green plastic .

Great work everyone .

Khalee, welcome aboard.  Is that the Special Hobby/MPM kit?  Or did Eduard make one?  MAM had a series on the air war over Malta, that had a little bit about the Fulmar.  One of those unsung hero aircraft for sure.

Caspar, the Venom is looking great.  In the right hands(yours), the old Matchbox kits are gems.

Owl, I agree with John, I really like the camo on your 262.

John, the B-57 is coming along nicely.

Cheers,

Greg

I added a last bit of variation to the paint work with some dot filtering in oils.

It can be a bit of a tense moment when you cover you lovely airbrushing with ugly little dots.

I then work them into the paint work with a dry brush and then wipe off the excess with some paper towel.

It adds some nice hues and variation to the monotone colours and gives it a more 3D look.

Next I am detailing up the Martin Baker MK.4 seats with al the harness work then the under-carriage and then we're done.

Cheers

I was going to leave the seats as they were, just painted but I thought as there is such a nice big canopy (open or closed) I should have a go at rigging all of the supplied harnesses with the Aires seats.

So 2 hours later...

...and some eye strain I think it looks good. A bit of a black thinned oil wash will help hide some of the messy joins and such. Also note the seat on the left, on both I had to cut away the bottom half before the cushions so they would fit in the cockpit. Also seems through studying the markings, the NF.3 planes were not fitted with ejection seats. In the instructions there is a slightly flatter canopy and the tops cut off the supplied seats.I have decided to ignore this as clearly the seats I am using are! Stick out tongue

Ok...onto seat number 2!

Cheers

Thanks Trey, I've just finished seat number 2 and my eyes have gone crazy!  Glued them into the cockpit and attached the ejection handles to the headrest. I'm stoked, I've never seen a Matchbox office look this good! Just awaiting the glue to dry the canopy into a raised position and then I'll take some pics.

Cheers

Ok, I'm calling this Venom NF.3 done. A relatively straightforward build aside from the issues of a mold this old. With a bit of AM sprucing the office came up a treat.

Cheers

stunning build Casper!!

The ME-262 is now finished!! The decals were applied over a coat of Future, then a filter/wash toned everything down and blended it all together.

Manstein's revenge

Nice a/c guys---one of the better GB's in a while on here, IMO...

That is high praise indeed....thanks Manny!

Greg,

Any chance of getting the completed builds on the 1st page of the GB? Would be a nice place to go to see all our work without having to dig through all the pages. Just my 2 cents

Awesome builds Owl and Caspar!

Herchmech, I have been posting pictures with the corresponding page number for all the completed builds.  It shows up on my page one.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong?  Until I updated it with Owl and Caspars builds, yours was the last one added.  Please check it out, and let me know.  Can everybody else see the images on page ?  I'm not the most tech savvy person, so I plead ignorance if it isn't working.

Thanks again for the awsome builds.

Cheers,

Greg

Greg,

Please disregard my ignorance...I guess I was just not scrolling down far enough on the page. I like the way it looks and I love the page reference. Great job with that, some GB don't go that far.

Thanks Hercmech, I am glad the pictures are showing.  That would totally be me to find some weird way for the computer to show them on my screen and not anybody elses!

Cheers,
