Weathering has been started using pastels single color for the moment but its coming along nice so far =)

Lots more to come but i wanted to post it =D

Don't blame me, it's not my fault I had no control. It's Tamiya's fault, such a damn fine little model I couldn't stop!

So I've finished. weathered and scraped until I think it looks good. I tried to go for a look of a plane that's seen a lot of combat and many wet seasons in the Pacific.

I am just so impressed with the attention to detail this kit offered. Even the crappy masks were not even pre-cut but they performed flawlessly when it counted.

...and I apologise Doogs for finishing almost 2 and a half weeks before the GB has even officially started

Casper that's a great looking Zero...I don't typically go in for the Japanese birds, but I've heard such great things about that Tamiya Zero that I may have to add a meatball to the collection!

Weathering looks really good, too. It definitely looks like its been ridden hard. Maybe not as tore up as Lindsay Lohan, but tore up nevertheless. 

I'll get the pic up on the front page tomorrow (the bench is calling...).

I'm also officially adding my planned PBJ-1J. Just started getting all obsessed with it, and then the Way Too Many Props GB reared its head. But the PBJ will be a fantastic weathering platform, too, so may as well toss it in here as well!

Thanks Doogs, it's the 3rd model I've finished in the last 10 days so I had better be good and now limit my mancave/plane time to the weekend and get back to my work schedule during the week!

It's gonna be hard though, I have an Eduard 1/48 Special Ed. Mirage 2000 waiting!

That Zero came out great, he no worries on finishing, heck that why we all have multiple kits..lol I may even pick up another this week if possible (2 maybe depending)

Thats how i got to the point where i have kits sitting on shelves waiting for me to do the Diorama. All these GB's were popping up that i couldn't resist. Cross overs feel like cheating, but i had to go for the Too many props GB. But i can see me having to force my self not to join any more for a while.

I feel ya, Bish! I don't really do dioramas (yet...but I've got some plans), but so far all of my GB commitments have been stuff I've been planning on building anyway, that just happens to fit. Honestly, it's more a matter of shifting which builds get moved up in priority versus back. But it's still getting to the point where I may have to draw the line, especially with the groups where I have multiple builds planned (NMF, Ostfront, 8th AAF). It's fun to think "yeah, I'll build four kits for X", but there's only so much time...

I build all my armour and aircraft kits as Dio's, have done for about 20 years. I just don't feel right having a kit sat on the shelf on its own, Much better trying to put it in a setting. I am planning on doing a very few 32nd kits as stand alones, to big for Dio's.

can't wait to see what you produce when you start doing them.

I hope I am not to forward with my posting, but I would like to show my "weathered" A6M3 Tipe 22 Zeke.

Just want to share it with you guys, not enter the GB.

It is a 1/48 Hasgawa kit and the detail and fit is second to none! It was the first time I did the salt chipping thing.I wanted something a little different with this build so I display it as a plane that is getting a bit of an overhaul and new paint on the very "bad" spots, hence the gloss of the "wet" paint on the matt fuse and wings. If it ever actually hapenedI don't know. LOL!

I'm tempted by the Falklands War GB...but I'm sticking to WWII for the foreseeable future, so I'll be watching from a distance!

Among the dios I have planned (in my mind!):

- Meyer's "Petie 3rd" of the 352nd FG at Y-29 on Dec. 31st, 1944. I'm planning on grafting the Aires engine kit onto the P-51, and think it'd be fun to put it in context of the primitive conditions at Y-29, the bitter cold, the snow, PSP, etc.

- Tamiya's Storch. Rommel waiting as the crew finishes some final maintenance before takeoff, with some 1/48 vehicles present. I'm thinking this one would be awesome as a long, narrow diorama, maybe 12x24.

- Monogram OS2U Kingfisher. On water. Not sure in exactly what form yet, but water will be involved.

Some nice ideas. Of the 3 72nd Bodney p-51's i will be doing in the future, i'll also being useing an Aires engine. But that will be the 328th aircraft. Petie 3rd is going to have its guns bays open. They are gboing to be built as 3 dio's on one board. Somthing i have done before with other subjects and they turned out nice.

I have not worked with water yet, so that would be interesting to see.

Doogs, hate to be a thorn in your side but can you change one of my entries? I would like to omit the 1/25 Chevy Pickup and replace it with the 1/48 Revell Ju-87 Stuka...Its been sitting on my shelf, unpainted, waiting to be finished and this would give me the PERFECT excuse to bang it out! Thank you sir.

Seems my jeep is going to get overshadowed by 1500000000 planes...lol Still i have a panzer in the wings, and thats the only time wings will come out of my mouth in a positive sense. I tell ya me + planes = gluing disaster..lol

TigerEP1  Don't worry, theres a few other armour builds in this GB. They are just doing what all armour should do when the skys are full, staying under cover and out of site. Ready to pounce when the skys clear.

I really am envious of you plane guys/gals, i simply cannot make a plane look good for the life of me and sadly (i have a bf 109-e on my bench i am building for a friend) and its slowly taking my soul away =(

I wish i could paint a tank like some oif the awesome plane schemes i have seen (like the FW 190 in the FW -190 GB with the black lightning bolt with red edging (like the one in luftwaffle's sig) ..then armor would be "hip" ...lol

neither can i but that don't stop me trying. I actually prefer armour, but my stash is 2 thirds aircraft to one thirds armour. I think one of the attractions with aircraft is that they can often be more colourful. Especially with some of the American nose art or German aircraft with colourful bands or markings on them.

Agreed, planes get to be more fun =/

Probably does not help that i know about as much about planes as i do Nuclear Fusion.

Just gotta remember the pointy end goes first ... the tall end follows behind ... the pilot sits between the two ...

To me, a tank looks like it's coming and going - hard to do at the same time, I s'pose ...

My bad kit experience was with a Trumpeter 1/72 Sea Fury ... absolutely, hands down, the worst kit I've ever 'assembled' ... had I used a welding torch on it, the results would probably have been better - it sucked !! ... vowed I'd never buy another Trumpeter since and have not done so ...

I hear ya pepper, I have had a couple of gems in my auto model days, once that made baby jeebus cry.

Oh btw n that rust thing on my exhaust, reason i didnt give ratios is that i never have the same...lol I just mix it by eye and go from there. Really and medium red/brown and mauveish red will work. less red more brown possibly a 70:30 split? Hard to say as i only mix what i need when i need it.

Ok, not seen that kit, might be one of their older 32nd ones. I do believe they had a few problems with fit. Apparetnly their newer 32nd kits are alot better. I don't have any 109's in that scale yet, and have heard good things about the eduard 109E's, so am looking at those.
