nick - I like the "pixi-geschwader !" I'll get going soon on the A6M2. I have some Verlinden flaps & engine bits for it. I may have to build another IJN kit ( Jaguar resin J1N1, Has. J2M3, Has. A6M3, Has. B6N2, Class. A/F A5M, Has A6M2 Rufe, Has. A6M5 - what to build ???) at the same time so I don't get bored ! I just scored some more Trimaster 262s (I now have 7 more to build - YIPPEE !), and those are screaming to be built.

While searching the net for the same information, I came across an article written for a web page and the author said he used aluminum for the interior color because that's what her heard many of the first ones were done as.

I think Accurate Miniatures is coming out with a 1/48 version of the SB2U Vindicator. Looks like they are still in research phase so let's not hold our breath for this one making our group build.

BTW. Anyone got some good images of a PBY Catalina I could use to assist with the weathering and detailing of mine? Trying to do this without buying another book.

I agree pixilater, there is just something about the lines of that plane. It's a favorite for many, and not just for the "Flying Tigers" aspect...(although for the most part that's the way you see it depicted.) It's a shame that no one makes a good kit of it. Maybe I'll just build the Revell, raised panes lines and all. I don't think I'm ready to takle sanding and rescribing... I'll just have to overlook it. Blindfold [X-)]

for info, the C-33 is a militarized DC-2
the JRB a navy variant of the Beech C-45

Have not been able to find any kits of the Stinson O-49, the the North American O-47, and the SB2U Vindicator are. (MPM and Special Hobby, 1/72).. No B-12 kits either and I'm not sure how different it is from the B-10 (William Bros, 1/72). Don't know about the OA-9 Goose and the AT-12...

The O-47 is tempting me...

In 1/48, that's a tough one. I have heard that the RM kit has the most accurate outlines, but the panel lines are raised. The Hobbycraft kit has a shape problem where the cooling flaps and ventral bulge meet. I know AM Tech released some P-40s, but I'm not sure which ones. I've been wanting to get one myself, but I've yet to hear of a really good kit in this scale. Its a shame, too, as the P-40 was such an important fighter, and a favorite of many.

Its going to be a little while before I can start on this build. I still have 4 Luftwaffe birds on the bench. I started painting the camo today, so it will probably be a couple of weeks.

obi - I may be interested in the Zeke markings, what's the postage/shipping time from there?

nick - my sig pic is only 281 x 150 pixels, far from large. There are many more on this site that are larger. I don't need to change it, I like it the way it is.

John - you can have as many pics of mine as you want, and thanks for the offer.

on the plus side it does have recessed panel lines which revell p-40 does not!!! Angry [:(!]

i looked at my p-40 the other night and decided to relegate it to "under the bed emergency spares only" status!!! Laugh [(-D]

i'm thinking it's going to be cannibalised to help with landing gear and cockpit details and the like...at least it will leave this world knowing it has served a higher purpose, namely our group-build!!! Tongue [:P]

the time scale seems somewhat elastic at the moment, so i wouldn't worry about that.
as regards what ou do with your project upon completion. well, pretty much anything you like from dumping it in the trash if you don't like it (hope not!! Black Eye [B)]
