There's the SUE! Hmmm - I have a Wessex and a Dagger in the stash as well, this sheet may be worthwhile for me after all.

Great work on the Chinook Bish! I like it. Maybe I would add one to my collection some day, I still have to model some of the British aircrafts once I finish with the Argies.

Great news about the second part of the Aztec decals, I surely will order one LOL.

I didn´t made too much progress on my Dagger, but I am quite happy because a friend of mine (Mr Heredia from Aconcagua models) made me a resin replacement for the air intake

Today I filled some final gaps and the round  ligths on the wings.

I also got an armament resin set for the Daggers and I will use the British Mk.17 1000 lb bomb on this one. I will tell you more about this bomb tomorrow, I learn a lot about it.

Cheers

Like I've said, if you all want to swap decals out or (ahem) sell them it's ok by me.

Got my 'tune stickers, but S2 would be nice

Hi folks,

I'm back onto the Sea Harrier. I've been working on the nose and cockpit. Here's some pics, it's got a resin MB seat that I had laying around, and some Airwaves etched metal. I've still got to add the harnesses.  I've also boxed in the nose wheel well, but won't spend much time detailing it out.

Cheers

Tony

Ahhhhh - the Scooter! Is that one a new tool? I was very impressed with the decals in my new-tool Sea Harrier.

I like the look of that Scooter. Why do these new release Airfix kits do this to me ? I bought the Mig 15 and Sabre for no apparent reason the other day. Anyway, I'll be getting one or two Scooters.

Some progress on the Sea Harrier. After checking through the decal stash, and seeing (Modeldecal) decals for both the Extra Dark Sea Grey scheme, and the medium sea grey scheme, I've gone for the EDSG scheme with a resolve to do the medium sea grey one at a later date.

I sprayed the wing tanks, and the inside rim of the intake using Gunze H333 EDSG. Once on, I couldn't reconcile the colour to any of the colour photos I have seen in books. I then compared it to a can of Humbrol 123 EDSG which I happened to have , and found the Gunze one to be much darker, and too dark in my opinion. Googling an appropriate set of terms led me to a discussion on Britmodeller that had the same conclusion.

So, I've stripped the tanks (a little laundry powder in a container of warm water strips Gunze acrylic paint in under a minute) and resprayed that and the fuselage parts inside the intake that will be unreachable later on. The inside of the intakes are light grey with an EDSG rim. Unfortunately I didn't think to photograph a comparison, but I'll paint a couple of chips if anyone is interested enough.

I've also added the harnesses to the seat, and glued the nose together, breaking off the pitot in the process, but at least that forces me to improve it.

I am hoping to get this thing to the paint stage in the next day or two.

cheers

...and another update. Lots of work done since the last one. Nose added, pitot replaced with a needle, more work done on the hardpoints for the Sidewinders and guns, seams tidied, HUD

That's about it I think.

Hi Bish,

I have a PM Models Dagger that I recently completed. It depicts the plane, C-430, that Capt. Diaz was flying when he was shot down on May 24th, ’82.

I would like to submit the images, if acceptable, to this forum but haven’t a clue as to how to do it.

Thanks, Frank

Jere, your Dagger conversion looks great. I will have to check with a certain hobb shop here that I frequent and see if they can get that conversion kit in. I have a couple Heller Mirage IIIs in my stash and would love to do a Dagger (or Nesher) with one after seeing yours.

Azorean, the new Airfix Skyhawk looks very sweet. I think that these days Airfix is really turning out some excellent "more bang for your money" kits.. I hope that the keep it up. To paraphrase Gunny Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, "they are reborn again hard"...Yes

Taxtp, your Sea Harrier is progressing very well. And quickly tooStick out tongue I like it!

As for me, well you know that I sidelined my Mirage IIIEA in order to wait for the Falklands Decal set from Aztec. And once the arrived I had a bit more going on so I kept it sidelined until I got to the point on another project were decals would be done. Well I am now there. This morning I airbrushed on Future in preperation for decals. Right now I am letting that dry and cure. This afternoon if all goes well I should be able to begin that task. Here are a couple pics.

The Mirage

and all the fiddly bits

More to follow tonite or tomorrow...Wink

Hi there guys,

It´s nice to see more progress on the GB.

Tony, the Harrier looks great, you are almost there! Hope you finish it soon. There will be quite a lot o finished build on the GB.

Stik, the Mirage loos great too! very neat paint job, I can´t wait to see it with decals. I also hope to get mine soon LOL.

If you want I can contact you with Mr Heredia from Aconcagua models, surely will be cheaper to buy directly from him. He sells a lot to other countries.

Be aware that the conversion is ment to fit the HobbyBoss/Eduard Mirage kits, though. Maybe with the Heller ofering you will have a little extra job.

Some progress on my build,

The model was primed, some sopts that needed more work were spoted, fixed and then primed again. I also painted the first colour on the camo job.

I used humbrol 118, it was darker than my references show so I lighted  it a little with white.

This will be the last  colour I can paint ultil I got some decals, because I am not sure what aircraft I will model and the camo difered from one to the other.

I will probably model the C-436, wich attaked the HMS Ardent. It will show two 1700 lt auxiliary tanks and a 1000 lb bomb on the nafgan pylon on the center line.

Cheers,

Jere

Some great work there guys.

Frank, would be very nice to see some pics. Now posting them, thats an eternal question on here. You have to host the photos on an external site, such as photobucket, and then link them to that.

Your patience is answered El JereWink This evening here was a marathon decaling session since it was senior in the build list. Those Aztec decals are sweet Heart Excellent quality Yes Well, since the sheet gives you the option of marking any Mirage IIIEA from the war, I chose I-014. If for no other reason that I have two or three photos in my references of that aircraft with a Yellow rudder as I painted mine, carrying large drop tanks and Magic missiles, and it was not one of the two Mirages shot down in combat.  I also used a few decals from an old Superscale Mirage IIIEA sheet that I have had for many years for some of the cockpit area stenciing and the speed brakes. The foggy areas around the decals are where the Micro Set is interacting with the Future coat. Once dry that should all disappear....Whistling So without further ado, here is how she looks now with decals.

You will notice that the Blue on the upper surface roundels and tail flags is very faded, almost white. Aztec gives you the choice of bright or faded national insignia decals. I chose to use faded ones on the upper surfaces due to the aircraft being outdoors almost always during the war and exposed to the elements while forward deployed. I used the brighter decals on the under surfaces.

I could swear that awhile back you told me about a Dagger/Nesher conversion for the Heller kit... thats okay, I am easily confused at times...Confused BTW, yours is looking real good! Stick out tongue

Jere- great Dagger.

Neptune goes up on the bench once I clear off SIX models. We have spent the last year getting Mrs. Bondo's second house on the rental market, but it's chunking in the rent now.

So knocking off two ships, two FAA subjects and two French 1940 subjects gets us to the King (Neptune).

Very excited to make that guy up.

Good progress on the Dagger Jere.

Stik, that must have been a mighty night's work. The Mirage and the Hun in one sitting, that's something I've never done.

I'd like to try and get a head count of who is still in on this GB. See if we can put some sort of time line on it. I know Stik and jere are still building. Can we have a show of hands of who is still building for this, and who is about to start a build fo it within the next xcouple of weeks.

Hi Bish,

I'm still going on my Sea Harrier. I don't have anything else planned for this GB, due to other GB commitments, although I admit to being tempted.

My intention is to finish the Sea Harrier during the month of August, hopefully that will help you to plan out the remainder of the GB.

Cheers

Thanks Tony. Ye i know the feeling. I have a few other GB commitments as well. Just be nice to get this wrapped up rather than just let it fade and die. Maybe we can do another one in 5 years for the 35th if we are all still around. I'd really like to do a Phantom or Tornado from the Falklands myself.

Would be nice to end this GB in the end of the year.

I´m working in the base of my SUE diorama and I would like to buit one more model, the Mirage or the A-4P.

Is nice to see all the movement around this GB. The decals from FCM and Aztec appear a little late.  Big Smile

el_jere, looking like you're ready for the final cam paint now, can't wait to see some colour!

I'd love to see this finished up at the end of the year as well. I still want to add either my SUE or Pucara this time around.
