Yes it does!Big Smile

Bish

Ok, so what if we say till the end of Oct to start any new builds, no new ones started from 1st Nov and then end of Dec to get builds finished off. Would that be ok for everyone.

OK by me with the dates. I have to wait for a guy who will print a new set of decals for the Dagger but I am sure that I will have it finished by the end of december.

I can not countinue with my build until I get the decals because the camo job (and colours) difered a lot between aircrafts.

Stik, the Mirage is looking great! you are almost there.

I got my Aztec 48 decals today, the sheet looks great, although the !/48 version do not contain decals for the Canberra (I already have one in my display case but a few friends could use those) and the anchors and some of the squad badges looks kind of funny I have to check some references and pictures.

Cheers

Jere

ps:  Bondo, hope to the your Neptune before december LOL

Here's the last shot of my Sea Harrier before paint. I've replaced a number of the kit blade aerials with etched metal and scratchbuilt items, so that they're finer. They're very delicate though, not sure that I like that.

I'll give it a prime after some quick masking on the canopy and intake.

I've given it a really light prime, and for th first time in living memory, there is no real work to be done.

Tomorrow I'll mask the canopy framing and get on with the real colour.

Great work Tony on the Sea Harrier , you have made a lot of progress in tha last couple of weeks .

Sorry there hasn't been any progress on my builds . Dad has been in and out of hospitial a lot these past six weeks and mum has had a few ongoing medical appointments as well . So unfortunatly I haven't had any spare time to work on my builds . I'm just too tired in the evenings plus I have to get up a couple of times at night to help my parents with health issues and the like . Hopfully soon things will settle down a little and I can get back to my helicopter builds .

BTW , thank's for extending the GB Bish . I for one really appreciate the extra 6 months extension .

John .

Thanks guys.my GB schedule is looking a little, er, hectic, shall we say,so I'm having to push myself. I kind of did that deliberately, makes me keep them ticking over. These days I'm finding that if a build goes longer than about a month, I'm starting to get distracted.

It got it's first coat of Extra Dark Sea Grey not more than 3 or 4 minutes ago, it's obvously not ready to handle to photograph yet.  I meddled with the colour a little bit, and I'm pretty happy with it as it currently stands.

I'll let it dry a little , then finish the job off before bed.

Cheers

John - I hope your parents health stabilises soon.

Just thought I'd post a quick one on the Sea Harrier, with paint. It's mid way through my mandatory 48 drying period for enamels. It's a good camouflage for flying low over the bench top at least !

After saying I wan't going to fix anything, I dabbled around the canopy, and now I'm going to have t odo some tidy up and respray that area. I'm still a little troubled by the two blade aerials immediately behind the canopy too. I might have another go at them.

Cheers

Tony - nice smooth finish on your Sea Harrier, nice to see her in-flight.

John! - best wishes from this end of the world as well. Just get those boxes out in the evening & check them out. May get your brain thinking about having a go at some small portion.

Hi Mochilote,

I am very impressed with the face. It is extremely realistic. I have painted quite a few busts in my time, none are anywhere nears as good as this.

I hope you can push it through to completion this time around. Any WIP or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Tony

As of this evening, all washes done on my Mirage. Since all photos that I have in my references show these planes to be fairly well weathered, I did not skimp.... I basically used pin washes of Model Master Burnt Umber along all panel lines and in the gear wells...

lower surfaces

and upper surfaces

Looking good Stik. With all the colours used on the markings it may seem odd - but my eye keeps getting drawn back to those non-matching drop tanks. Love the mix'n'match that is happening there.

Great work here guys!

The Harrier and the Mirage both looks great.

The bust is also impresive! I though that you had left the GB Mochilote, I am very glaad to see that you havenĀ“t.

John I hope that your folks will be OK soon. Also I am looking forward to see more helos.

Cheers,

Jere

Thanks guys Wink Another full day or two's work and I will be finito on this build.

Vance, The mix and match aspect is what drew me to that on the drop tanks. In several photos I have the "desert" camo long range tanks were mounted, so it must not have been too uncommon.Hmm

Well I am back to work and off vacation as of today, so my build time is now back to normal...Tongue Tied

Hi Guys,

Quick intro: Although I’ve been modeling for many years this is the first time I’ve posted one of my models.

Attached are a few photos of my interpretation of the IAI Dagger, C-430 flown by Capt. Raul Diaz the day he was shot down.

It is an older PM Models 1/72 kit built straight from the box with some additional cockpit detail. I made the decals and printed them on my Brother Ink Jet printer. The quality surprised me. I did some paint chipping – photos I’ve found of the Dagger show paint chips all over the airframe – I used Windsor-Newton Masking Fluid for the first time – applied with a tooth pick. (I think it works great.)

I tried to imagine what the actual green id. panels would look like considering that the plane was said to be covered with a layer on ice, which was cleaned off using newspaper just before painting.

I’m planning to build the Sea Harrier flown by L/Cdr Andy Auld – hopefully before the end of the year.

Thanks for the opportunity to share,

Frank

Very nice Dagger Frank. I do wish that there was a mainstream kit of those in 1/48 out now.

Thanks stikpusher I appreciate you kind words. Actually I was lucky to find this kit in my stash, which is mostly 72 scale. I haven't got the room to display the 'BIG' stuff.

Thanks to all of you guys. Yes Jere, I'm back; the problem was that, as I couldn't sculpt the gun I put this bust aside and took some others, but now I'm determined to finish it; and this is the idea:

I hope you like it (I do).

I like it Mochilote.

I've progressed my Sea Harrier a little, getting the decals on yesterday. I wanted to depict an Extra Dark Sea Grey Sea Harrier with the overpainted 'Falklands' roundels, with non standard dimensions to the red and blue components. The Italeri kit decals have standard dimensions, but I had decals for a number of various aircraft on a couple of old Modeldecal sheets. I trimmed the roundels as closely as I, but when plaaced on the model, it was evident that a) they were very hick, and b) they had been printed on white backing, and a sliver of the white showed up like dogs proverbials on the dark grey surface. The 2nd sheet proved similar. After searching the decal and then kit stash, I finally came up with a viable alternative, the Hasegawa FRS 1. In the end, all of these decals came from that kit, and are good quality. Its perfectly fine, because I can use the Italeri decals for one of the other schemes on the Hasegawa one, when I eventually do it. Needs an overcoat of Future now. THese things were quite glossy, I believe.

Cheers

The Sea Harrier is finished. I can't say that I'm super proud of it, however at least it's done. For mine, the measure is less than I wanted it to be, but I still haven't mastered spraying Future.

I think your being a bit hard on yourself Tony. The only thing i would pick up is that it does look a bit shiny, though that may be your lights. What did you use as a Flat varnish.

Hi Bish,

I would be far more pleased with it if it did have a coat of flat varnish on it, I think it would be more pleasing to the eye. As I understand it, these things were painted gloss extra dark sea grey, so that's what it's got.

Right, didn't know that. How about a semi gloss finish, tone down the shine a bit.
