Kids nothing, they suck the life out of me.  I work on a kit for 30 or 40 minutes and go back and play on the computer.  I say its because of the fumes but really I'm so ADD.  Never thought so till I married teacher.

Hey guys,

Been awhile since my last update as i hurt my back a couple of weeks ago moving my grandparents into a new appartment.... That washer wasn't very nice to me the moment i tried to put it down. Been staring at my shoes for almost two weeks unable to get upBig Smile

Anyways i'm pretty much in working order again and picked my Mig15 up again last friday. As i have already done a few natural metal ones i kinda wanted to have something "different" on the shelf. Totally fictional even though i worked from a profile of an Iraqi Mig15 UTI but well....it's differentWink

Next up is getting that future shine off with a few dullcoats and try that "dot filter" technique for the first time. I have seen great results with it and this $10 model is just perfect for a tryout.

Hans.  You might want to update the front page since the Panther is done and the Mosquito just needs paint now.  Both came out pretty good.

Nice work with the alternate scheme, Kermit!  Sorry about the back - washers, dryers, and refrigerators are not to be trusted.  Huh?

Sorry, it looks like I spoke too soon.  All I could find wasd an old imcomplete ESCI 1/48 F100 kit.  I could have sworn I had an old Monogram kit around here somewhere...  I will keep l;ooking and let you know if I find anything.

Bill,

I forgot how small those bipes really are.  They are looking sweet!  Just a couple of questions though 1.  Is the Phantom Mustang being repopped again, or is that an older rerelease?  (I haven't built one either.)  2.  Since the original Rommel's Rod used the 250 for it's tracks, how come you went with the 251?

It's a new rerelease by RoG.

I couldn't find either a 250 or a 251 in 1/24 scale, or at least one that wasn't expensive. So I went with the 251 because at 1/35 it was long enough, and that old Tamiya kit is around ten bucks. But, I got a cool set of Panzer Grenadiers with it.

Yikes - how did I sign up for this kind of trouble? Indifferent  This thing is a real jewel (not).  But maybe I'll get the pit scratch built before they take me away!  Confused

Nur Mut haben, Kopf hoch!  That is, courage, my friend!  Scratchbuilding the cockpit, and any other details on this kit, is one of the points about building the older Monogram kits.  I think you'll find yourself enjoying it.  Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Best regards,

Brad

Yup...

Just used mineral spirits to wipe the paint in the direction of airflow....waited for the solution to settle a bit and wiped off the excess... I guess i will take a look at it again in a bit after everything dried somewhat.

Sofar it looks kinda neat. Hope it stays that way.

I've used the filter method, too, on a couple of subjects, and it worked pretty well.  I used oil over acrylic that had been sealed with Future before decaling, then DullCote after decals.  I used a little bit of white and a little bit of yellow.  What I liked best was that I could do individual panels differently.

well.... 24 hours later my Mig with the bird poo (LOL) on it looks like this:

Do i like it...? Hmmmm...... kinda yes but i feel this technique has more merit on armor builds.... Maybe it's me but there are other techniques for weathering an aircraft that i feel would have done the Mig more justice.

Then again... it's probably me doing something wrong.

Don Hammerini,

An update from Tal Afar.  I have started both the P-38 and the P-39. Currently working on the cockpits and side walls.  I am also working on the P-51, but have stalled a bit on that one, so I can catch up with the others.  I am on the slow road to being "made," but making progress!! Smile

Well, i am calling build no.2 done:

Not my best model ever but the paintscheme makes it somewhat more interesting IMHO, even though highly fictional...

Beautiful summer weather overhere across the pond so i am going to enjoy the first barbeque this year being proud of me being "made"Wink

Geeze I havent been here in a while but I have been watching all the builds, great work one and all YesYes

CallSignOwl thats another very nice P-51 you have added to your stable of mustangs.

Kermit La Rana so you have been made I see and must be shown the proper respect. If I may, your MiG-15 looks good, I like the color scheme and they way you took care of the splattered paint from your paint mixer. I like the streaking it created, well done. I do find it interesting how closely the MiG-15 and F-86 resemble each other, if you like one you tend to like the other too. So what are you BBQing ??

Randy So many to build.......So little time
