Time for some WIP pictures of the Streak Eagle, got the Talon on and the gold chem film.

Next up will be a clear coat of future then mask and paint the burnt titanium around the engines and burner cans. I didnt want to retype how I painted the finishes, my discovery of gold chem film was quite by accident really, so I have included a link to the NMF group build below where I confessed how I did this. I still havent figured out how I am going to weather this but something will come to mind, or maybe a suggestion from one of you will get me through that problem.

Howdy folks...  Been off-line since I started the move, but the wife's PC is up and running now... I still have to get my War Room in order and get my PC up and running.. Having a bunch of electrical issues in that half of the trailer, so it's slow going.. If I have the lights on in there, there isn't enough power to even boot up my computer...

Water Heater's Tango-Uniform, and I got furnace problems too Tempa are still down around the frezzing mark at night here).. The guy tht sold me the place did a Hillbilly tune-up on some things, so, I'm fixing a bunch of things, plus the regular sh*t that goes along with a move, PLUS, I got an inspection of my apartment building by the city to deal with on Monday.. Got a full plate, no matter how you slice it...

Seems as if things are coming along nicely, even tho a couple of y'all have had some issues.. Nobody said it was gonna be easy getting "made"... That's the point though.. If they were "Shake & Bakes", everyone could build them... 

I'll try getting the front page updated later tonight...

Sounds like our trailer.  I'm just happy that we shouldn't be in ours much longer.  The main problem with our trailer is it's age.  Not a lot of plumbers, electricians or other service people will even touch it.  We have major water leaks under it, and the floors are about hosed.  And it's not easy to find a decent house for our measly $55K loan limit.  

Glad to see you back online though.  I'm just waiting for some paint to arrive from Hong Kong to start painting the Mosquito.  Then I'm just about finished  with my two primary builds.

I got the Hun primed, then highlighted the seams with a 50/50 mix of flat black and deep sea blue,,,I also did the raised panel lines.

Excellent NMF painting there!. Your patience is definately showing off here. A good reminder for the faster guys outthere that taking your time does pay off. Looking forward to your next update my friend

Well,...

I have to admit that i kinda scr*wed the mig up... I had my back issues for a week or two and a severe case of modelers block after that so i continued without much conviction and it shows....

So.... with renewed enthousiasm and a healthy dose of R&R under my belt i just pulled out the B25 kit and shot some pics of this Revell reboxing:

The Mitchell in the picture is one of three versions offered. This Jet Alpine restaured one, a solid nose one and the one i am going to do: Lazy Daisy Mae. 

As i said before i did start it about two years ago but never got past the inner fuselage halves paint...

V - nice shiny Eagle!     Beautiful NMF+  Why not leave it unweathered?

And Kermit - doesn't look like a sc*****-up Mig to me!  Looking forward to the B-25.  Had one of those in my old unit.

Don't have anything to show yet - still sawing my Wildcat apart.

Hello everyone, I wanted to report my progress so far. I started the Bf-110 and decided to make it a "dime store " build. Square bottle Testor paints, hardware store sprays only and no putty. Figured I'd honor our heritage for my first kit. I'll get some pics up later.

Hi folks, well just as I thought I would get to work more on the 'Vette and post more, I had a computer virus that took several days to get beat out of the system, and then a passing in the family, and now, if you've kept up with the weather, we have just went through 5 solid days of rain here in SW Missouri, and the  flooding that came with it, also with high winds and in-house humidity, I just haven't opened any kit up in the last week.

Sorry Hans, but don't worry, I will not be defeated by life, and I WILL get "made" with the 2 Monogram kits.

Ok lets try this again, I posted last night and for some reason none of my posts made it to the forum. I couldnt post this morning either computers. Anyway I updated Firefox in desperation and all is well now. So......................

Thank you all for the kind words about the Streak Eagle, the encouragement makes me try harder to build better and better than before. I am going to try a touch of weathering as soon as the decals dry, I really think the bare aluminum needs to be broken up a bit, just seems kinda flat to me. The chemfilm I wish the pictures showed better as it is blotchy like I wanted. Anyway it should be finished by Thursday I hope.

P38 the camo on your F-100 looks great man keep the pictures coming.

Kermit Sir I beg to differ with you on the MiG-15 I think you did an outstanding job on it, takes a lot of nerve to try new techniques on a model and you pulled it off very well. The hint of streaking on the wings adds hugely to the over all effect.

Also Richard cant wait to see your B-25 come together as I have the same kit in my stash. I have been thinking of doing it as a polished restoration over in the NMF III group, but havent made up my mind yet.

I've been working on the Hellion siblings, the Helldiver and Hellcat.  Construction complete, painting done, ready for gloss and boom, disaster.  Dropped the Helldiver and broke it at the wing joints.  Then I spilled alcohol while cleaning my airbrush on the Hellcat. 

Had to re-glue the wings and re-fill the seams.  Then I had to sand down the spots on the Cat, careful not to sand off the raised rivet lines.  But all's well that ends well.  Here are the shots.

I've been using MM Acrylic clear gloss and flat and have not been happy.  The spit and blob out of the airbrush so I went to town today and got Alcad Klear Kote and Testors laquer in a can.  I'll try one on each and see what I like the best.  Wish me luck.

Great job, Satch!  Though I think you should have kept the blotching from the spill on the Hellcat and incorporated it into the weathering

Did you add a cockpit, and was it an aftermarket kit or did you try scratchbuilding it?  I built this kit last year for a Monogram Aircraft build at AgapeModeling, and I decided to scratch it.  But I used the pilot figure, too, and closed the canopy, so I didn't go too nuts.

A little of both.  I used a KMC set that is made for the Hasegawa kit.  Much of the resin and PE stuff had to be attached to the kit parts and there are none to speak of in the Monogram kit so I had to scratch the floor, panel, seat rack and stick.

Just thought  I should give a little update on my progress. I am building the P-51 as Detroit Miss and the TBD for the build. Sorry no pictures right now. I have the yellow nose painted, invasion stripes and black recognition stripes on the Mustang. Waiting for the black to dry completely. I would have been farther along but, the windscreen did not fit well and I had to start again after the antiglare portion was painted. Tore it off and tried again. Much better the second time and I still have to get the antiglare panel repainted. TBD is primed and the first coat of gloss yellow in on the wings. Next update I will have pictures. Thanks

I got the decals layed on today.  Just ran out of time to finish up with the dull coat and wx r ing.  I had to take my wife out on a date and I have to go back to work tomorrow.  I'll be back 2nd week of May.  Here's what I have so far.

i like the helldiver ive got one in the stash airfix though its hard to find monogram here in tasmania but i found one 1:48 hawker MKIB typhoon for $28

Both are painted US Navy Non Specular Sea Blue over Intermediate Blue over White.  Tamiya for the blues and some MM and Valejo for the white.

Satch_ip that is one fine pair of Navy Birds man I don't know why they weren't icons of the Navy war birds of WWII after watching Enterprise Battle 360 on the History Channel.

Don Hans von Hammer I wish to show my respect and humbly present you with finished pictures of the 1/48 Monogram F-15A Streak Eagle. I do hope it receives your approval.

I have to say this model as all NMF builds are really hard to photograph, the best pictures I got were in natural light.

For the weathering I tried water color washes and pastels, didnt like the effect at all, so then I tried Talon powders. They worked great ! I used aluminum, steel, and a custom mix that Garald  sent me, that custom mix by the way worked the best and I hope he can remember what he used to make it, because I plan to order more. I am quite pleased with this build and I really need to thank Gamera for the decals he sent me for it.

P38jl the Streak Eagle was used to set a number of time to climb records. A lot was left off of her as was paint to save weight. They also found at speed markings and what little paint was on her was burned off including the graphics on the nose and tail. The nose art was reapplied for photo ops but the graphics on the tail werent replaced until she was painted  gray for display.

Ok.. I'm up and running (as far as the War Room computer goes) finally, and have updated the front page... At least I THINK I did... Sound off at me (via back-channel, please) if I missed you or mis-read your progress (gimme a page number while you're at it..This thread is getting some friggin' DEPTH)...

Haven't got the workbench set yet, so nothing new to add to my progress (other than two of my grandkids got two of my three remaining Monogram P-38 kits outta me for helping me move, the little blackmailers..)  Made 'em take the same kits though, since that's the easiest way to prove to 'em that I didn't get one a "more-better" kit than the other one... 

Anyway, hoping to break out the supplies and get the bench mission-capable by the end of the weekend, and started getting some glue on styrene.. Both the Spitfire and the Stuka took damage during the move, but I'm gonna hold off on repairing them until I get shelving up... I'll get back to the P-40 as my first order of business...  That, and I gotta go get two more P-38s... Got 40% off coupons ya know...
