Eric, Sorry to hear about this.  It is still happeneing everywhere.  A friend of mine was laid off last week.  I really hope everything works out for you. 

It is a good thing you have a good stash... that's what I have been trying to tell my wife that I need more to last for my entire life.

It happened. I'm now unemployed! Must admit that I'm stunned. I really thought I would survive this, but they basically eliminated everyone in my position. Wow. Just don't know what to do now but exhale. Whewwwwww.

I'll try to get some building done, but probably won't resume until tomorrow.

Eric-I feel your pain.  I've been thru three plant closings and the layoffs that always came before the final event.  And I could not get motivated during my most recent 'unplanned sabbatical'....built nothing during seven months of 'free time'....

At the end of the day, there is nothing to change what may or may not happen....worrying about something that you can't control won't change a thing....and I know...easier said than done.  My faith has helped me greatly....however, that type of discussion is discouraged here in the forum.

Thanks for explaining your situation Eric . I understand how loosing the security of having your job can take a toll on enjoying life .My wife and I went thru that back in the mid eighties .I dont have any great sugestions on how to cope with the stress and sleepless nights ..............just hang in their Eric .

I've been burdened with more job cuts coming. By most accounts, another 50 will lose their jobs by the end of October. My sources say they are coming as early as tomorrow. My department is in some jeopardy. Newsroom will be taking the majority of the cuts, perhaps circulation some others. Not sure. We just got a new Ad-Director who out-sourced her entire production dept. (my department) at her old newspaper. The other newspaper was bleeding money; we are technically debt free from all accounts. 

I need to survive this round and perhaps another 50 or so layoffs next year. That will be close to 20% of our remaining workforce. My wife has another 2 plus years of school, so...........you can see my apprehension. Sorry to dump this on everyone, perhaps my friends can understand my lolly-gagging on the build. 

On the plus side, the build is a fun and at times frustrating distraction.

Yes, by all means post some pics ASAP! I'm dyin' to see this baby! How'd you sort out the etch issue - did you set a lot of it aside for the second kit or muscle through it?

No extension needed for me - I'll have this monster done by the end of the month! To be quite honest, I work better with a deadline...pulled myself off of a couple of other builds to focus on this one. Want to get it out of here!

Sorry I've been bad about taking pics, but haven't been able to get on the forum over the weekend. Don't know if it's the site, or if my internet connection is just wonky. Juuuuust about done with construction, will most definitely put up a pre-paint shot or two.

Eric-don't beat yourself up over not accomplishing as much as you had planned.  I walked by my build multiple times, looking at the 30 minutes (or less) of painting that needs to be done before weathering....and kept walking.....maybe this coming weekend....

No Archer numbers in my stash-however, I have various number decals-is that an option?

Well nothing wrong with leaving it with just a coat of dunkelgelb on it Eric , but thats a lot of dunkelgelb

Well all is not lost. After an hour at the bench, I got the rest of the base on, primed the cables. I was going to run to the LHS, but they are closed on Sunday. . Definitely not what I envisioned, but if I work everyday, I hope to get her done on time.

I still haven't come up with a camo yet. Sheesh. I've looked at so many too. You know dunkelgelb is looking kind of cool.

Does anyone have any Archer Black numbers with white outlines that they wouldn't perhaps like to trade for something I might have?

I must say I'm very disappointed with myself. I have the whole weekend to myself and I've done nothing! Nothing! Like I said, this was a very stressful week and my motivation got sapped. I thought I'd have all the painting done and the tracks weathered and ready to go. Nada. I still have a few hours of light to try and finish up the base. The tracks shouldn't take too long, so maybe I can salvage this weekend.

Carl-Thanks-your color suggestions make sense.....I hadn't thought of it in that respect.  I'm thinking an 'off-white' with some light oil staining and maybe some black pastel for the soot.

And great work on your camo-it's coming together quite nicely.

I don't have an issue with extending the deadline when there's such great modeling going on!

Thank you Bob and Carl. The 3 of us and Ernest and Marc are the 5 that are actively working that I know of. Good. Let's extend the deadline to mid July. I want to see as many get their badge as possible.

Here's some weathering i did with and acrylics and chalks .

I agree with extending the deadline ...............make it longer Eric . I'm with you and Bob , this is a busy time of year .

bob , i'll see what i can find but i would imagine it would be a dirty , sooty color . I think they used and oil soaked material to swab out the inside of the barrel ....well not real oily as that attracts more dirt , but enough to keep the corrosion limited .

Eric-I'm all for extending the deadline.  I hope to be finished by the end of June, but I agree that it would be good to give the latecomers a little extra time.  And with summer here, I find myself outside more during the days/early evenings and with less energy & desire to spend time on the Jagdpanzer in the evenings.....maybe it will rain tomorrow...

Question for the group-there is a barrel cleaning rod on the Jagdpanzer-at the end of the rod is a large 'cleaning pad'....or at least that's what I think it is-cylindrical in shape-what color should it be?  Needless to say, the Dragon instructions are a bit lacking and I haven't seen any in my limited research on the web.
