This build earns a "pretty freakin' sweet" in my book! Toast

I wonder if I have a pic of my 234/2 and 234/3 (both Italeri, to complete the collection!) in my photobucket...he shoots he scores!

Wow, that /2 was from a long time ago...I'm even thinking that might have been from Tigerman's Italeri GB? Now if someone can come up with a build of a 234/1 we've got the trifec...quadfecta!

OK, here are my latest WIP pics.

Obviously, I will not be done in time. Especially, because I've got class tomorrow and my anniversary on Thursday.

Oh, well.

I will post more pics as she gets done.

Keep plugging away Scott. It actually builds pretty fast except for the tracks.

Carl, just stupendous. I commented already in the armor forum. Thanks for participating and sharing that jewel of a work.

I got a little done. worked on the periscopes and the towing chain. the camo is killing me.

Great job Carl....very impressive work.  Thanks for sharing your techniques along the way too.

Scott-looks like you're progressing at a good rate.  Looking forward to seeing more pics.  I think you are doing the right thing, choosing to celebrate your anniversary over modeling time....you've got the rest of the year for that.

Dupes-very nice 234's.  Thanks for posting pics. Always good to see others work for future inspiration.

Eric-keep plugging....it will come together.

Made some progress on the Jagdpanzer-tools painted, blending wash, pin wash & dot filtering complete (per one of the Doog's tutorials).  I need to do a little more weathering, add some dust to the tracks/wheels and do some touch-up.  Hope to finish by the end of the weekend.  Will post pics as soon as I find some batteries for the camera.....

Good to hear you're so close to the finish line Bob.

Once I figure a camo job, I think I can fly through most of the rest of it. Darn camo. LOL

Hey all-here's were we are at the moment-the 'blending wash, dark pin wash and lightening dot filtering wash have been completed.  Still needs some 'touch-up, some dust/dirt on the treads/road wheels and a few small bits attached-antenna, rear light...I think that's about it.  Then maybe...just maybe, some worn spots-metal and some rust.  And the muffler could use a bit more attention....followed by a light dull coat.  Hope to have it complete by close of business Monday....or not....

You're correct sir. I've got dunkelgelb down on her. I have the same camo-block with my Pz IV. On that model I didn't like my squiggly lines, so I resprayed DY.

I just took two photos of the Jagdtiger, but I'm having issues with uploading.

Bob, the Jagdpanzer turned out great. I agree that the muffler needs a bit of pigment or something to dull it down.

Eric & Scott-thanks.

The muffler needs some more work-probably some washes and pigments (ground up pastel chalk for me...).  I want to try some light weathering-worn area and some rust....but not too much.  And the road wheels & tracks need some attention.  I've been using Doog's Hetzer tutorial for the process so far, so I guess I'll continue to do so.  I guess if it doesn't work out, then I can repaint.....wouldn't be the first time.

Eric-glad to hear that the dunkelgelb is on.  For me, getting the first color on can be a good start.  Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Thanks Carl.  I'm glad that I decided to cut the one piece kit part and separated them....gives me a lot of options for display.

Bob- Nice work on your Jagd!  Tell you the truth I wasn't too sure about your camo earlier but now it looks great after being toned down.  Love it! Yes

Thanks Andy.  I agree on the camo-what really helped was a 'dunkelgelb oil wash' (per Doog's tutorial)-that seemed to be more effective than the Buff over spray at toning things down.  The 'dot filtering' exercise scares me.....I always get too much paint on the tank and worry that I won't be able to get it all off, but so far, so good.

It's Tamiya. I use Tamiya or Model Master Acrylics.

Just to show that I have done something......sorry for the bad photos.

I'm almost ready to just go with the dunkelgelb as for something a little different. I like how my monotone M1 turned out. Something says this guy needs some color though.

Nice work Eric....I think a solid dunkelgelb would look great.  Tracks are very nice also.  Looking forward to the next progress pics.

Thanks Bob. Just not sure what to do. I think it needs camo to make it more accurate. I just can't see it going to battle in dunkelgelb.

Maybe one of the German WW II experts would know about the camo Eric . Did you read  the comments about my 234/4 not being accurate ? But then there was a lot of guys , like yourself , that liked the camo anyway . So i'd say go with your simplest finish if thats what you want to do . It'll still look great with some detail washes . By yhe way the tracks came out really well . Beer

Good luck !

WOW!  Eric, your beast is already looking great!  I liked the tracks... I forgot which tracks you are using?  Indy, Magic tracks, Fruil or MK tracks? So many choices out there...

They are the kit magic tracks. First time with them. They're awesome! A little cleanup, but easy to build. Saves $30 for MK's. Wink

I agree Carl, everything doesn't have to be accurate, so long as you're happy with the end result. I will ponder the single color scheme for another day.

........ I just can't see it going to battle in dunkelgelb.

Or maybe just add some foliage to the beast......of course, I've never been brave enough to try to put plants on any of my builds, but maybe someday....and I tend to attempt to build for historic accuracy....when I dabble in auto's I am a little more flexible, but not with aircraft & armor.

Eric, I agree about those Magic Tracks... they worked great on my Marder II earlier as it was my first attempt too.   I'd be happy to save $30 anytime so I can buy another kit or reference book.!  Wink  I won't bother to use those rubber bands or old resin tracks.  Looking forward to your next update! Yes

That is an idea. I have rarely seen accurate looking foliage in any scale. I will continue to search for a camo scheme or just ad-lib some.

Okay, first camo pattern was a flop. It started out promising, but I hated it when it was done. This is not unusual for me to reshoot the camo 2-3 times. My son is going to forward pics of his King Tiger that I painted and really liked. They are basically the same vehicle, so we'll see.

I'm really leaning Dunkelgelb, but I know it doesn't look accurate. I've seen many Porsche types painted this way, but rarely a Henschel.

Hey all!  Just jumping in quickly to post a couple of pics of the Hetzer.  GB end date is closing in and I've got to get my a$$ in gear!

As of 6 PM today:

Shouldn't have spent the time to do it, but I felt like shaving off all the little molded on tie downs and replacing them with 32 gauge brass wire.

The Armorscale ball mount was a tough fit but I managed to get it to work out.  Also, there was a HUGE opening between the ball mount and the mantlet....I had to close up the opening with styrene sheet cut to shape and then blended in with Mr. Surfacer 500.  Then I painted the ball mount with a primer color and then decided to cover up some of the overpaint with black.

Hopefully tomorrow I can complete the rest of the assembly and get a coat of primer on it.

Eric - nice work on the JT!  The tracks look mighty fine!
