What about the late war liberation of France ? Thats when i the lend lease vehicles would have been used , right ?

Yes sir. I'm still thinking May 1940, the invasion of France proper. A nice Blitzkrieg in the West. Chomp chomp.

Yes. My original idea of the Battle of France was 1940. I don't believe it's been done as of yet, so with all the new releases of Matilda's, Valentines, Char B's, and H35-39's, 15cm sIG 33 Bison, Pz II A/B/C's  it does open some doors.

Hmmm... wingy things too! I've been wanting to try my hand at one of those flying contraptions. Maybe, just maybe, if it's allowed.

I really like what Eric said... 'Blitzkrieg in the West' GB.  It sounds more exciting than 'Battle of France'... little too dull.  That way it may attract more participants?  Of course wingy things were part of the Blitz... even ships too.

Yes, we need targets. Big Smile

Blitzkrieg in the West does sound more appealing then Phony War.

Eric , i found this old Testors Pz.Kpfw.1B kit in my stash that should work . Now i dont need no Renault !

The kit markings are for a  Pz.Kpfw. IB of the 1st Panzer Battalion, 25th Panzer Regiment, 7th Panzer Division (commanded by Rommel), Western Somme (France) June 1940.

YOU DONT NEED NO STINKING RENAULT!

Probably safe to have a Battle of France GB that way there would be more options of vehicles that people would want to build.  If we allowed the  "Lend - Lease" vehicles we would have even more vehicles to chose from but we would lose all the early German armor and ALL the French armor Crying  I like the early stuff myself, you do not see it as much.

BLITZKRIEG IN THE WEST sound like a GREAT name!

If you had the airforces involved, it sure would be nice to see some of those early French planes with there crazy shapes and red & yellow stripes.

Some armor that could be used and all of these kits are avaliable:

RPM - armored tractor LORRAINE 37L, SDKFZ 135, transporter LORRAINE, SDKFZ 135 ambulance, FT17 char canon, FT17 chemical tank

CMK - Pz 35

VULCAN - Vickers light tank MK VI B

MIRAGE - AMR-UE tankette, renault UE scout car, renault UE chassis SWG 40/28cm and the 40/32cm

HELLER - Somua S35, Renault R35 canon de 25

TRUMPETER - French 38H, French 39H

BRONCO - They have many variants of the H38/39, Cruiser I MKI - IV

TAMIYA - AMR UE tankette, Matilda II, Pz 35

TAMIYA or DRAGON (several other companies) - Panzerjager I, Pz Bef Wg I Kleiner, SIG 33 15cm Bison, Pz I Ausf A and B, Pz II Ausf A-C, Pz III Ausf C-E, Pz IV Ausf B-D, Pz 38, STUG Ausf A-B

There is always half-tracks too such as the SDKFZ 222, 231, 232YK.

There are more kits then this but I got tierd of writing and looking.  All of these vehicles were involved in BLITZKRIEG IN THE WEST and the kits are easy to get.  This should give everyone plenty to chose from and if not one could always venture into the little know about second front invasion by the Italians.

Sorry did not get a list of the aircraft

The French had airplanes? LOL

Nice list there Rob. That probably covers the majority. Add the Tamiya Char B and that munitions carrier. You could throw in some arty too such as the 88mm, 37mm, 25pdr, & 2pdr.

I only have 2 kits that would cover the list. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

There seems to already be an interest. Should we shout it out to the world and move up the starting date or leave it to early October?

I'm open.  I'm involved in Andy's Panzer III GB and thats it.  So do not think it would be to much for me to do this one also.  Not much of an answer, can wait or I can start this weekend, I already have a large selection of kits that would work in my stash to choose from.  What does everyone else think?

I probably wouldn't want to start any earlier then mid-Sept. myself. After Labor Day weekend for sure. Might give me enough time to finish my other build too.

I was looking at that Bronco kit and my eyes exploded looking at those teeny tracks. A couple of other minute pieces. Maybe a nice Tamiya 232 instead. Whistling

Rob, you mentioned the StuG A & B as having participated in the Britzkrieg in the West-do you (or anyone else) know of anyone who makes decals/markings to target the correct vehicles.  I've researched and the current kits available only have decals for Eastern front & Greece options.

Thanks

Bob- You are correct... I have spare decals from my recent build Tamiya StuG III B and unforuntately they all were for the Eastern Front.  I would have sent you if I had one... what about those aftermarket decals from Archer or Echron?

Andy-I did a quick search-nothing jumped out at me as being a fit.  Also, I looked at the instructions on

http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=101&scope=0&scope2=0&itkey=stug+1%2F35

and there aren't any good matches in the kits.

Not a big deal-I have other good options if the Western Front is the GB chosen in the voting....of course, we're assuming that this is a democracy....Eric could make a mandate.....

Bob- Good news... found decal set for StuG A or B during the Invasion of France from Archer.  Only $4.50 and of course Eric can order it for you.

Andy-you are 'da Man'!

Thanks.  Still not sure what I would build if the Western option is chosen, but it's always good to have options.

Bob- Anytime!  I think it would be cool if you can build a StuG so my Frenchy tank will be able to surrender to you without ever firing its gun...

Guess we will have to wait few weeks until we find out about the final decision. Tongue Tied
