Medicman71 this site may help you find that excact F-14 from Desert Storm, I found it invaluable for my Tomcat builds

http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-serial.htm

You can search by Buno and find what you are looking for I think. I shink you can search by squadron also

Thanks Vetteman. I found what I was looking for last night and I don't have the correct "Wolfpack" decals for a DS bird. So i'll just stick with what I have. Thanks for the link though.

Scorpiomikey: Mom said I had enough at 12, too. But I really need to start reducing my stash....if only to get new kits later!  Stick out tongue

MAJ Mike: I only have one final left--the German one tomorrow evening. That gives me all day today and most of tomorrow to pack my room. Which is too much, actually. I might have to break out a kit in that time.... And this is what the top shelf in my closet looks like. And I have even more stacked on the other side of the closet too!

Medicman: I will have to be careful at the IPMS nationals this year and make sure I don't get too many things! I have a little piggy bank that Ive been saving my loose change in all year. and that is all I'm gonna spend! (or so I tell myself!)

I have more than enough to last a while at the rate I build. Here's a pic of my stash. There's an A-10 and another F-15E Strike Eagle in the stash that's not in the pic.

Progress thus far with the Maus.

Using after-market cannon barrels.  Will add a coax MG-34 by drilling out one of the mantlet bolts.  I want to make this paper Panzer look more like a limited production operational vehicle.

The MG-34's too long.  I'll shorten it.  The turret goes together quite easily with no issues.

Added a cleaning rod cannister for the 75mm and puttyed over the pistol ports.  Pioneer tools and the cleaning rod carrier are from a DML Panther II that I gave up on.  The pistol ports serve no good purpose and only complicate production,

Turret was a very quick and painless build.  Used a red rattle-can primer to replicate the factory base coat primer.  Next step is to try pre-shading for the 1st time followed by a coat of MM dunklegelb mixed 50/50 with MM light grey.  All paints are enamel.  All are either Model Master or Testor's square bottle.

Be gentle in your comments, I cry easily. Crying

Well there's no seam in the barrel but it needs more rust. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Propeller

At last!!!  Proof that I do build model kits!!!!!

Vance -- yep, 128mm main gun with a coax 75mm.  I added the coax MG34 because it seemed to make sense.

Oddmanrush -- I understand.  However, this was the only model I had that met the perimeters of the GB.

Thanks for looking guys.

Looks good so far MAJ Mike. Did all German tanks have that reddish primer on them?

Probably. Regulations for the painting of armored vehicles, by late 1944, dictated a reddish brown (primer color) as the base color for newly manufactured armored vehicles.

I prime my models before painting them anyway.  In this case, I want to leave some of the running gear unpainted primer.  Over the majority of the vehicle, I'll go with a more conventional Model Master enamel base coat of MM dunkelgelb mixed 50/50 with MM light grey.  I will then overspray that with irregular lines of MM olivgrun and MM schokoladenbraun.

This is a fictional panzer.  Rumors aside, the Maus was never operational and the 2 partially completed prototypes never saw combat.  In researching this subject, this is the color scheme that has been described as being very likely for the Maus if it would have been put into production.

Off Topic Did your German exam go okay?

Didn't mean to nag.  Just being socialable.  Hope my response wasn't too much of a History lesson.  Hard habit to break.  I taught high school World and American History for 15 years.

Thanks again for setting up this GB.

Sorry, since I don't know jack squat about WWII armor (let alone German WWII armor) the "reddish primer" struck me as funny.  Heck, I thought it looked like rust! Embarrassed

I hope my explanation of the paint scheme was sufficient.  I make no promises regarding the ultimate result in that my skills are still in the development stage.

Looking nice!  Judging by the color, I guess it'll be a Red Air Force version?  1/72nd scale?

Regarding the stash -- didn't know anyone made a PE-2.

glad to see you start RRB!   That's a lot of rivets to avoid when sanding, good luck!
