Owl: The Revelogram is a pretty good kit so far. Definitly not a Tamagawa but nowhere near as bad as some of the things I'd read about it. Just make sure you test fit everything before you glue... saves a lot of frustration.

Greetings Gents!

First let me say nice work so far on the pair of B-25s in progess by Jet Modeler and JayBradyYes

I started work this week on my Academy 1/144 B-47. The kit consists if 2 spures of light gray plastic parts. These have finely molded recessed panel lines and no flash what so ever. There is 1 spure of clear parts that include the canopy and the nose for a B-47B with glass for bombadier compartment. Decals include markings for 2 aircraft, a B-47B from the Korean War and a B-47E. I chose the E model as I liked the NMF and white underside. Made good progress this weekend. Following are some photos of the build thus far.

I like the box art and the kit was a bargin at $13.50 from Hobbytown USA.

The cockpit is very basic, two seats and 2 sticks. It doesn't warrant spending much time on as it's barely visable when the fuselage is closed up.

The podded engines have very nice detail.

The graceful swept wing.

All the major parts are assembled. The fit is so good very little filling will be required.

Alright I'm gonna transfer over to number 3...

I built the 1/32 scale P-51D from Hasewaga, modeled it afte Maj. Pete Richardson's hurry home honey from the yoxford boys, It took 5 monthes to build the plane ( which by the way fit was excellent) Another month on the diorama based on the painting by Nicholas Trudgian.... It was painted in model masters metalizers alluminum, steel, and titanium. the Decals are from Sprubrothers.com and the cart in the diorama is from a 1/48 scale B-17 bomb cart!!! its a suprise that it fits well.. comment and critique and ask any questions! Big Smile

I forgot to take pictures of all the build Embarrassed

the paint done

The decals!

'

The diorama and weathering

Thanks for looking!!! it took a lot of work and now im going to take a break for a while!

An update like I promised.

Got the decals on one side so far. The red shows up really bright in these pictures. I left off the clear coat as I didn't know what it would do to the NMF.

The engine cowlings were not glued on in the last update. They were dry fitted.

Even got it on its feet.Big Smile

Model Geek the Stratojet is lookin good, but wow the pit is only 1 1/2 inches long ?? Whats the wing span on the model ?

ColGray as I said in round 2 very very nicely done young man. Very nice indeed. Have you given any thought to submitting it to the readers gallery ? The front page has been updated with your build sir, and thank you for bringing all the pictures over to this build.

Jetmodeler looking pretty darn good, I see you got those seams under control. Nice paint job too and yes the red really jumps out at ya. Might I ask what paints you used for the NMF ?

I use future floor wax for a clear coat on foil, I have also used it over Talon paints, and MM buffing metalizer with very good results.

vetteman - Would you go ahead and put me down for a 1/48 Tamiya P-51D? Planning to kick this puppy off pretty soon - don't think I can take the Pup and big Tamiya Spit back to back without something a little simpler to tool on as well!

Markings will be 352nd FG - not sure yet if I want to do Meyer's Petie 2nd or Petie 3rd.

Also...missed my window to get started on the Racing Sherman, for now. I'll probably hit it after the Vorpanzer I'm planning for the Pz.III GB.

Model Geek: Nice work on the cockpit! I've never tried a 144th scale a/c but considering the size of the bomber she'd be huge in 1/72nd.

Jet Modeler: Great job on the NM. Looks smooth and flawless! I love the slogan painted on the wings. Probably not too PC these days but I bet it was good for morale!

I have the B-47 in 1/72....she is huge! LOL. Easily comparable to the size of a 1/48 B-17, if you want that visual. However, like the B-17, I have no place to put it!!

Nice work in this build.

Jetmodeler: How did the revelogram decals go down? Thye looked a little thick to me but I've got to use the national markings for my build.

Been gone for a week... Toronto and St Pete to see the Red Sox. Kinda sucks that I can never seem to find good seats at Fenway anymore.

Thanks everybody.

~Vetteman42~ The paint I used was actually nothing special. It was Testors "Silver Metallic" #1246. In the spray can. I was surprised how it turned out.

~Jbrady~ The revelogram decals actually went on pretty good. I had second thoughts about whether or not I should buy aftermarket decals or not before I used them though. Then I started thinking, it wouldn't hurt to give them a  try. Actually pretty glad I used them.Wink

Kermit gotcha covered buddy Yes Your build is in. Hey I read a review about that kit and it got a great review BTW. From the pictures I saw looks like a sweet kit with loads of detail, will be looking forward to seeing it come together with the Kermie touch.

Vetteman,

I read the reviews too and it is what made me keep an eye out for this one once the financial trials and tribulations of daily life were slightly more favorableSmile. You are absolutely right about the detail part... Take a look yourself (pic heavy so i reduced the pics in size a bit..)

As said i will do Little Miss Mischief. The same plane is depicted on the boxart but there is also an OD/Grey additional decal option, the "Nine o Nine". As you can see "little miss mischief" is going to be a painting challenge: after receiving heavy flak hits over Cologne Germany this plane made it back home almost cut in half. Subsequently the ground crew guys worked on her and made her airworthy again using parts from no less than 13 other planes resulting in this extraordinarily looking finish:

Decals: usual revell AG quality stuff

An idea how the interior will look once painted:

Some shots emphasizing the engraved lines on this mold. Kinda heavy but i really like it myself. Kinda reminds me of their Thunderbolt in the same scale which is an excellent kit:

Excellent detail on the engines considering the scale:

Threaded tires:

And last but not least a pic of the clearparts: Hell for masking but heaven on the eye:

So you guys can see i got my work cut out for me and i really hope that i can do this appearantly sweet kit some justice...

Richard

Hi all,

I don't usually do more than one kit at a time but I am getting so excited about my next build that I had to post some preliminary pics!

I'm doing the Trumpeter 1/32 BAC Lightning in a F.3 variant. I've added the Eduard exterior set, Eduard ladder and the Aires cockpit.

This kit wasn't cheap but I had to have it. Despite it's sheer size the bird still looks sleek and cool in the aluminum finish...but Gods! What a monster! The fuselage is huge! Here is a comparison against my F-104 in 1/32

...and it makes my 1/32 Bf 109E3 look like it's in 1/48th!

Anyways, I'm still working on the Viper for the F-16 build so this baby is still a couple of weeks away.

Cheers

On the bench: A-4F 1/32 Hasegawa

Just deployed: F6F-5N Hellcat Nightfighter 1/48 Eduard

Up next: A6-E Intruder 1/48 Revell

Hey guys,

Popping in to do a little update.... Very impressive Lightning btw.! Should be a fun build from the look of thingsSmile

I like they way they engineered this kit. The interior is made up of subasseblies like bomb bay, bombardier compartiment and cockpit. They are painted and assembled and then glued into the fuselage. Very neat. Been completing the bomb bay sofar as well as prepping the fuselage halves.

First painted and assembled the components as well as washes and drybrushes and the lot:

Glued the stuff together (top roof wont be visible from the top hence no paint):

And painted and weathered the fuselage:

The part aft of the radio room was usually left unpainted so i painted it in bare metal...

Anyways.... hope you guys like it sofar. Next up will be the pit areaWink As usual any and all comments/ critics are more than welcomeSmile

Jetmodeler I would say you have the " touch" then I could never get a decent paint job from the Testers rattle cans.

Kermit aww man I am looking forward to this build man Eats I bet this one will take more than a week too, you do I see have a head start on it though Stick out tongue

Casper That thing is a monster !!!!!! You are gonna have to buy paint by the quart, and all those goodies to go with it too. This is gonna be fun to watch Yes
