Looking good so far, Milair.  I was going to start my MiG last night, but got to watching the Road Warrior instead.

I had a bit of a lead here, as I had just started the pit on Trumpeters 1/72 Tu-160. Other than considering a Begemot decal kit, the whole thing will be OOB, including the over-long cruise missiles which I don't plan to tackle. I had considered finishing the bird as one of the NMF prototypes, but my NMF skills have a long way to go & the kit wasn't cheap - so white it will be.

 Anyway the pit is finished;

As is the front gear which attaches to it;

& I've started painting the weapons bays, which should soon be ready to build;

Although I'm not sure about the bulkhead colour, which should be lighter;

It's started to dawn that this is going to be the proverbial iceberg, which I haven't even seen the tip of yet, so far I'm about 1 1/4 sprue's into 19 of them..........

Wonder what "Red 1" makes of it all?

Counting down the hours until jump-off.... 00:01 25/05/11 is GO!

Since there will be some other Soviet aircraft in this GB, anyone got an idea as to what the official (if such a thing existed) interior primer color was for their A/C during the Great Patriotic War?  I've seen references from "light grey" to "dark compass grey"..  whatever those colors are.

Sorry.  I misunderstood.  Good question, though.  However, most of the available kits depict Soviet items.  Not many post-Evil Empire kits out there.  I just happened to have a 20+ year old Tamiya T-62A kit so I didn't even think about it.

Don't rub your StuG III too much.  Deafpanzer will get upset.  Have a good week.

  No MAJ, I was talking about the Years. The year time period. Being a relatively new guy I wasn't sure if were talking about USSR vs Russian. I don't know enough to be sure or if there is a difference. These builds really help people with limited knowledge to become immersed with a subject and learn, from you guys also.

WOW was that me that just sounded smart?!Students

Thanks M.M and ta all.

I'm in. Not sure with what yet, but definitely armor.

 What time frame are we talking? If this fits the build I'll do Trumpeters 1/35 KV-II

Since Lend-Lease vehicles were not technically made in the USSR they are ineligible.

No problem. How about this:

1/35 Trumpeter KV-1 model 1942 Simplified Turret # 00358.

See ya

 MAJ Mike:

Golly gosh, looks like I'm the only member of the Dark Side here. Huh?

If AFVs are the dark side, that means airplanes are the light side. Where does this leave me with my Katyusha? Kinda twighlite zone?Big Smile

Hey
      Ozzman

     I ran the one last year, so I'm definitely jumping on this one.

Quick question, are only things made in the USSR eligible or can something used by the USSR like  the P-39Q also play?

Like I said either way I'm in. Just put me down as "to be determined" for now.

See ya

Scott

I am in with Zvezda's BM-13 Katyusha in 1:35.

The May 25th start date sounds good to me. As a trivia, that is the birthday of Tito, ex president of ex Yugoslavia. I also graduated from university on that day...Smile

Here's what I'll be submitting for your consideration.

This kit has been packed away since the late 1990's.  I've ordered some after-market fiddely bits to enhance the experience.  Still haven't decided on what motiff I'll use for the build.  I'll go with either a straight-up Red Army vehicle or a Syrian vehicle from the 1973 War on the Golan Heights.

Here's a "sprue shot":

Ozzman: Glad the start date is next week.  I can get right on it.  Thanks for posting the build list on the first page and thanks for running this GB.

What are the guidelines for display of the GB badge?  Display when model completed or display when WIP?  Don't want to break protocol.

Don't you worry MAJ Mike, i am on the dark side too. I will definitely build an AFV, just have to decide which one.

I was the only Dark Sider at the Odd Animals GB.  Good to have company.

I'm gathering resources for the T-62A.  Haven't decide whether to do a straight up Red Army vehicle, a Warsaw Pact ally or some mid-east client state.  I'm looking forward to the start date.
