...You have to build a Harrier.Stick out tongue Cross overs are allowed. ..

I like the rules so far!!! I'm in with an Airfix 1/72 Sea Harrier, crossing over with the Falklands GB that is underway.

As far as "my first group build, am I missing anything" goes - hey, it's your group build & can be as simple as you like. I guess the only other "rule" is for builders to share pics & info as they go, the "group" portion of the group build! I've painted a few cockpit pieces but will put the rest on pause until your start date.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Please count me in. Not sure which Harrier I will pull out of the stash I have about 4 in there. I will let you know in a few days. Right now I am leaning toward Esci/Ertl AV-8B witht the older Marine Green/Grey scheme. I have a few other builds to wrap up so may be a bit before any WIP are posted.

Thanks,

I would like to get in on this as a cross over from the Falklands GB, where I am building a 1/48 Tamiya RN Sea Harrier FRS1.

Cheers,

Michael

[View:/themes/fsm/utility/http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/xx4/fyreater637/models040.jpg:550:0]Here is my submission. AMT AV-8B Harrier II. I will be doing it in the older tricolor Marine Paint scheme.

The first project I'm doing is a "revisited project". My step dad built the kit about 20 yrs ago or so and he wanted me to repaint it for him.

It was painted in that scheme before I stripped the paint. I believe the markings were VMA-331.

(Starts tomorrow)Smile

I scored a Monogram 1/48 on evil bay when it gets here I'll decide on the markings and version, really depends on what kind of shape the decals are in.

Okay I can live with the decals, not real good but useable  so its going to be VMA-331 .Dry fit of the big bits revealed a warped wing and fuselage no biggie easy fix

The office was pretty basic

The Intake and nose wheel housing done, took more coats of white than I would've liked came out ok tho

Why is it that yellow and white always give me a hard time ? Anybody else have trouble with these colors?

TREYZX10R this is vertical take of Big Smile nce cockpit painting

White for me is the enemy number one for modellers Super Angry

just finished five layer on my super etendard (falkland gb as the harrier i'll post here) and seems again not so good Bang Head yellow are more human but need a underlayer of light gray or... white to work better.

so.. here's my harrier gr3, previous wip resume

the kit is the old good Esci harrier, with some improving by italeri. panels are fortunately engraved.

Cockpit will be scratched, on my magazine fortunately i had an old aeroclub martin baker for this plane.

Nozzles will be totally drilled and improved

By the kit main gear will be glued before to close fuselage, then i glued some plastic piece to allow gear glued after finishing all.

worded even on secondary intakes

and main parts glued

the cockpit work till now

that's all, now i can continue on it

~TREYZX10R~ Looking good so far. The project that I'm repainting for my step-dad is the old Monogram kit. He even used the same markings.
Yellow likes to give me the most trouble. White gives me trouble but not as much as the yellow.

Why can't all colors just cover like grey paint does.Smile Dots

~Bsyamato~ I see you went with the vertical takeoff.Big Smile Looks good so far.

Bsyamato thanks, nice find with the seat and scratching a 1/72 office takes some eye warping skills better you than me !

Jetmodeler thanks glad I'm not the only one that struggles with those colors

More prgress, the intake took some persuading but finally went in

wing fit was decent ,small amount of filling will be required

gun pod fit was really good thankfully

no no ! all these work was done before gb starts Surprise  with shared time with others kits on workbench they take about a month to reach this step.. was not vertical take off Smile

TREYZX10R thanx for comments but pay attention at the little auxiliars intakes on the av-8, i fear you glued it in reverse posiion, click here to take a look, is the italian version but don't think harriers have these function different .
