Peter,
I would be interested to know how you get on with the tracks for the Sdkfz 7, as I have just bought the Sdkfz 7/1 (I kit I have wanted since I was a kid) and will pick up the vanilla 7 soon for an 88mm desert diorama I am working on, so I was curious as to wether or not they are worth the money.

Kinda wishing I hadn't found that site for the SiG33 as I was just going to build it OOB but I am already stretching sprue and cutting little rivets!Dead [xx(]

I reckon the Krupp would make a nice build anyway.

I am pretty sure it does Thundergod, a few of the other guys were at least thinking of doing the same.

Welcome aboard.

Sure it does thundergod!!!

I actually have the same multi-decade-aged kit.... worse though mine only came with japanese instructions, so... as you can imagine... its only half completed and on the shelf with some dust Dead [xx(]

Build Progress.... I glued some parts on the 45mm AT gun and it kinda looks like a AT gun Tongue [:P] ..... and I glued some parts on the 76mm gun but it just looks like pieces of irish spring Clown [:o)]

I may have bit off more than I can chew with the supply horses.... wow there is a ton of scratbuilt rigging that needs to be done to hookup harnesses, footstraps, and all the other horsie stuff that hooks on to a beast of burden....I hope I can pull it off...
I haven't done any work with figures yet.... yet Evil [}:)]

funny you mention japanese intructions cause i also have them..... weird huh Taimyas cataloge says this kit is "limited production" funny I got it and it still looks like a 30year old standard taimya kit. You would think they would at least update the instuctions.Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid]

Larry_Dunn, I would like to join this build. I'm building the Quad for the small AFV group build and I could build the 25pdr for this one.

Not that I know of. I could do it with Tripod, but I am blocked to all webhosting from work, where I spend the vast majority of my time. Any volunteers? Smile [:)]

No problem Firefly -- you're building and that's what counts.

Here's an unofficial goal -- let's try to be done by June 6th if we are working on weapons systems that fought at Normandy -- a good way to remember the 60th anniversary of that fateful campaign.

I'm making slow progress on my Alan Sig 33. The instructions are, well, pretty awful as far as part placement goes, but I printed out some pics of the real thing to help with that. Fit of the parts is quite average. It is getting that squadron green camoflauge look about it already. Nearly every part needs trimming or filling to make it fit nice.
All that considered, the thing looks like it is supposed to, and it has nice detail in places. It also has no detail in others, and detail that shouldn't be there in some, but overall, I think it should make a nice kit.

I am not going to get too carried away with detailing or accurising the kit, I am just going to concentrate on only doing bits and pieces where the detail is sparce or a little clunky, so as to ensure it looks like a minature and not a toy!

The only thing I have been reall disappointed with is the barrel. I am assuming the real thing would have been round. The kits is a few blokes down the road from round. Pity, because that is sort of the focus with gun pieces....

Well I managed to finish much of my remaining M1 work, so I'll manage to start my Demag this weekend. I started the main part of the gun and carriage for the Flak 43.
I want to finish my M1, then have a day or two with no modelling to rest up a bit before really getting into this one.

Phroosh. Most guys who have the Alan Sig 33 are replacing the barrel in that kit. It has a fault where the breach attaches anyway.

Both Aber and ARMO do replacement barrels. Scale Effect (www.scaleeffect.com) here in Queensland stock ARMO barrels and Aber, but do not list the Aber barrel. Go to the site then click on Products then ARMO when the listing comes up. They have ARMO #35716 listed at $10.80 AUD. Next entry is a muzzle brake for it but that is $14-50 AUD. It will only be a buck or two to have a barrel posted from Toowoomba Qld to SA. Here's a link to a pic of the barrel: www.tracks-n-troops.com/ armo_135_barrels.htm

ARMO also do 12 piece ammo set for the Sig item #35724

I have several ARMO barrels, and the larger ones include an etched piece to be fitted inside the barrel for rifling, but I don't know for sure if it is in this one. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Peter.
You always seem to know something useful, mate!

I have decided that I have to replace it. I also looked at this set by Jordi Rubio, as it was the only thing I could think of off the top of my head.

Thoughts anyone? I did like the look of the Armo barrel, but this set may have a bit more value.

Progress report: My Tamiya 75mm PaK40/L46 is coming along nicely. It is going to gether so well I forgot to take pics! One major problem, one half of the gun was severely bent and I made a mess of it trying to straighten it (didn't break this one though). I applied too much heat and it twisted so I had to reheat it and pull it straight so I get to file and fill to get the taper back. Should be able to get some in-prog shots up tomorrow.

I'm SICK, SICK AS A DOG! I managed to get NOTHING done. Ah well, looks like it'll be a nice long easter weekend. I'll end up working on it then.
Can anyone suggest a colour to use? It's my first time going for German armour, and I really like the monotonous german gray.
I spray acrylics only, so which is a good colour to use from Tamiya and Model Master acryl?

Nope, the build is officially for the towed GUN, not the vehicle. It's just that a lot of ppl (myself included) are building the towing vehicle as well. Welcome aboard. Smile [:)]

Zokissima,
hope you feel better soon.
jury is out on the Tamiya German Grey.
the debate has been ongoing here.

anyway, here is my 2 cents:
the 'typical' Tamiya German Grey (XF-63 ?) is on the dark end of the spectrum.
some folks, me included use XF-53 (? Neutral Grey) which is lighter.
this gives you more leeway if you use washes that darken the color.

i am hoping to get in on this build, but i have a few things to finish first.
