Back to that video, I think of all the different aviators during WWII: fighters, strat bombers, recon, etc... naval torpedo (and to some extent dive bombers) had to be the most dangerous, what with all those guns blasting at you, fighter cover coming down on you and flying low and slow with a ton of high explosives under you........... ain't no flippin way.

This afternoon i challenged the wind with my zero !!!! the result is a draw

take the pictures and at the end i break one of gears for unexpected wind blow the zero going to hit the floor (the other option was a dive of 3 floors and hitting the street ... fiuuuuu). BTW heres the pictures and the gear is already fixed with a metal rod in

comparing with the old matchbox zero, built in 1993! (big surgery on the matchbox one!)

Vincent nice to ear the tip was right, i learned fom myself ,actually divided in lots of sub albums as ww2 aircraft, post ww2 helicopter etc. The albums before are so scttered that i need hal minute or more before to find wath i search

Connor did the wash last night

I then finished with some weathering layers and dullcoat. I first sprayed a thin layer of dullcoat down so the pastels would have a better surface to 'bite' into. Then after brush and 'Q' tip pastel application it got a final spray of dullcoat. Connor says he is happy with it and I'm pleased as well despite a few blems. Trey, she finished up well weathered and looks great!  You've inspired me to pick up the pontoon plane at the LHS.

And finally shot my Val with that pretty grey and does it ever show sins.... seams, scratches, etc. 

Should finish up this weekend, not sure I can bring myself to post pics but what the heck.

I'm a big fan of Italy - made it over there five times, love of the place and the history actually led me to major in history in college with a focus on Rome...though sadly I've only driven through Calabria, but that entire southwestern side of Italy (actually...the entire western side of the country) is heartbreakingly beautiful. Well, except for Napoli.

The wife and I are planning on heading back for our tenth anniversary next year...still trying to work out where we want to go, though. Outside of a brief stay in Venice, she's never really been north of Rome.

BTW: Last night's episode of the American TV series 'Sons of Guns' the guys put together a Japanese 20mm cannon from a Zero. Sadly the weapon was in bad enough condition they didn't fire it due to safety issues

For the love of Pete, I had the Val shot with grey, proceeded to cut custom curved masks for the cowl, used a rattle can black for this since I was too lazy to shoot in my AB.... BIG MISTAKE, the overspray was too much.  Now I have to reshoot much of the wings fuselage etc.  I may be calling on Hans to help with a kamakazi diorama with this beloved Val.

The pic I've got of a George cockpit shows extreme wear and tear, like something you'd see in an armor build. So...drybrush happy fun time with the Floquil Old Silver. There'll be washes and probably pigment going down on top of this.

Doog If you learned about italy probably you know that the name italia is the old name of calabria (with yhe basilicata if remember correct ) : I hope you visited the mountains too here best places here are totally green mountains .

In all cases i have even two beds free in my house if someone get a trip here

I've gotten to the point that I mask everything even if I can't see any possible way to get overspray on it. If I'm just spraying a small area like the wing tips I put the whole model inside a plastic grocery bag and cut slits for the wing tips in this case or whatever I want to paint. When I paint the anti-glare panel of my P-47N I'm going to wrap the whole plane in the bag leaving only the top of the fusilage sticking out. Hope this helps some.

I felt like I was being super-daring when I didn't mask the trailing edges of the wings on my Fiat! Only reason I didn't was the flap detail is kinda fragile...but in 1/32 it's big enough that I didn't really have to worry about it.

Doogs: normally I'd do the same but I've had overspray get weird places I can't imagine so I ended up getting somewhat paranoid. It may have from using too much pressure and having the air flow bounce off the bench back up over the back side of the model.

What would be the best way to do a green and gray paint scheme?

Slow progress, but here is the engine for the Val painted.  I may give it a wash but I'm not sure if it's needed since with the cowl on you can't see much.

David: Looks good, maybe a light wash would accentuate the detail there.

Okay, tried to regroup after the paint mess and it went alright.... sort of.  Not happy with my seams but eh, it probably got shot down anyway.

Always easier to paint a dark shade over a light one, so a good rule of thumb is do the bottom first.

Reasoned: Yes, I do see a bit of a seam on the front of the wing but she looks pretty good overall to me. Paint looks good, I forgot the Val had that odd shaped demarcation from the cowling back to the cockpit.
