I'm in, not sure what I'm building yet but it'll be an aircraft of some sort in the 1/48th flavor.

Im in also, not sure what I want to build yet. It will be one of 4 kits,

Roster updated! Let me know when you guys decide on something. Not that I have room to talk, I'm not sure yet what I'm doing either! For Christmas I'm getting an Avenger, Catalina, and Sturmikov. I'm thinking the Sturmikov in Stalingrad markings may be the way to go...

spiralcity- I gotta admit, I wouldn't mind seeing those Italian jobs done up. Don't know much about Italian planes other than they're funny looking! Maybe you can teach me something.

Doogs- The North Carolina would be cool, since I've been on it down at Wilmington.

Count me in... have several subjects that could fit the theme but will wait a bit before making a definite choice. 

Doing a google image search on the year 1942, found the below image - but your's is good too. The pin-up looks familiar though for some reason - maybe it had already been used for a badge in the past?

I have a wildcat I can build, but there arent any dates for the markings.

A) VF-41 (Aboard USS Ranger)

B) VMF-233 (Marine Corps)

C) VGF-29 (Aboard USS Santee)

Option D would not work as the camo scheme would for 1943 and later.

stik- Cool! A Coral Sea bird sounds good to me.

jgeratic-  I saw that image too, I'll see what I can do with it. Not sure what the orange with the pinwheel is all about, though.

psycho- A quick Wikipedia search shows me the VGF-29 one is definately good to go, as it only existed in 1942. The VF-41 should be good, but check the version of the Wildcat. It looks like if it has bombracks, then it's post 1942, then again, I'm no expert! VMF-233 showed no results, unless you meant VMF-223, which is good for 1942. The 29 and 41 were involved in Op Torch, which would be neat, don't see that too often, and 223 was at Guadalcanal.

Airfix 1/24 Stuka

Regarding the  artwork I had posted above, turns out she is a character from one of  those Streetfighter video games.  I'm guessing the pinwheel represents her trademark moves that involve spins and spirals? 

Anyways, although not created 70 years ago, it is representative of wartime pin-up art.
Maybe should check out Vargas or some of the other artists of the period.

Yeah, I think a 40s era hairdo would be more appropriate... Something about those glamour girls of that time...

Well, I was looking over my kits and noticed my Tauro Models MC 202 has an extra thick, ugly looking canopy. If I build her I will have to order an after market canopy to zip her up.

I'm leaning towards this kit, it has a nice power plant included in the box. Looks like it could be an interesting build.

Upon further inspection of my Tauro Kit I have found that my trees are full of flashing and I noticed the office is set up rather short, their is actually no room to fit a after market cockpit into this thing with out doing some serious modifications.

yamato- Some excellent options, two of my favorite aircraft! The He-111 is clearly good since its markings are from '42. The first Stuka option would also be good. Don't know about the second one, you may have to look into it. Try this website: http://www.ww2.dk/air/attack/stg3.htm I think it is in German, but it is what Google gave me and I think you may be able to figure out if your '41 markings would also work for '42.

And I agree with you, 40's pinups are awesome! So much better than what we have these days... Then again, I love the 40's in general, if I could pick a time period to go back to, that would be it.

i have 3 option

two from the italeri stuka, a b2 from stg2 in lybia during januriy 1942, but don't like the paint scheme, whith a long serpent along the fuselage, 

or an r2 from "stg3" based on crete in may 1941 in standard split camo ,i presume in 1942 again there ,need some expert advice, i prefere this second option.

other plane is the italeri he-111 h-6 with 3 option all from 1942

i looking to choose the kg-26 one based in north sea

are these options matching the gb?

Just seen this and thought i might be able to help you out.

StG 3 was only on Crete for a couple of months, June to August 41. In May it would have been based in Greece attacking Crete. In August they then move to N Africa were they remained. Its possable the aircraft you have was still in service, but it would probably have been painted differently.

As for the other Ju 87 markings, II/StG 2 bacame a part of StG 3 in mid jan 42, so that leaves a very small time frame for that aircraft. They did carry the StG 2 markings for a short time, but not long. The safe option would be the He 111.

As i don't have finished stukas in my collection i prefere to have the first with conventional split camo,

Then I choose then the he-111 that went from north sea for the GB, the kit is almost untouched , i only engraved the panel lines that comes in relief .

I probably add some other thing after 

Just did some more digging and the StG 2 aircraft, i assume its T6+CP, is shown in August 41. Theres always the route of AM decals, is your kit the 72nd or 48th one.

This is a nice idea for a GB, comemorate a year rather than a certain event. Do you plan on doing the same for 43, 44 and 45. Afraid i can't join in on trhis one, but i am hopeing i will be able to start joining G|B's again from the end of next year

Bish- I got the idea from the Pearl harbor GB where Doogs wanted to do a Wake Island bird, but was turned down. It seems much more fitting to me, given the scale of WW2 to have some diversity in a GB. I'm pretty happy so far we have Coral Sea, maybe Op Torch, North Sea, Doolittle raid, and prob Stalingrad covered. Anyway, if this goes well and there is interest I would be more than happy to continue with a '43 GB.

Still working on sourcing the decals but it'll be in the scheme of one of the squadrons supporting the raid on Dieppe.

Here is the box for the Devastators, with instructions on the back.  These will probably be an exercise mostly in masking and painting things so tiny, but there is a little assembly involved at least.

I did build the ancient Fujimi Lexington this past summer.

Now I want to fill up this empty flight deck.  Found a decal sheet that has markings for the whole Lexington airgroup, so I thought it would be a good project.  I have the Trumpeter Coral Sea Lex on the shelf, and may build it if I don't dawdle and run out of time.

You had not heard of Dieppe? wow! The introduction to combat of two great things, IIRC. The P-51 in RAF service as a fighter in squadron strength, and the US Army Rangers, 50 of whom attached to the Commandos.

If my Summer of 42 GB takes off and crossovers are allowed, I have a couple ideas for AFVs that will work.
