Im thinking I already know the answer, but! Would the gun crew have taken the gun apart to repaint it? Im wondering because if not I'll put everything together after painting the grey and then paint the yellow after everything is together.

I'm going to drop this build. Another Accurate Mi niatures kit has done me in. Beautiful kits and my congrats go out to those who can finish them. This is the third I've attempted and I'm done with it after about five hours of trying to fit one assembly into another. Don't know why they are so over engineered. As beautiful as they are they are just not worth the aggravation.

The 88's looking very sweet indeed! Got a number of projects in the fire at the moment, but I definitely haven't forgotten this GB. In fact, I've got that new Great Wall TBD on pre-orderso may hit it up...

Thanks guys, this gun and the Sherman have been a very nice break from doing planes. The sheild and a few other things will go on later, I accidently scratched through the dark yellow when romoving paint in spots that glue is going so I need to redo some paint before putting it on. Im not sure if I'll do the carriage or not, I like it in the firing position, I'll probably do it later if I put it on a dio.

I'm with Doogs.  I've got a few other projects going at the moment.  I've definitely not forgotten about this GB.  In fact, my kit arrived (Dragon Sherman II "El Alamein") as well as a few "accessories" that may become part of the final build.  :)

Count me in for f4f-4 Tamiya 1/48 after research decided will go with VMF-223 Marion Carl from Guadalcanal.  As a former Marine I figured its only fitting to do the bird of the Corps first WWII ace.  Everyone warned me modelling turns into an addiction boy were they right...Lol.....Hope to get to chat with yall during this build and gain your knowledge.....Semper Fi, James

I finally found some free time to get started on my build. I didn't get much done last night with Kentucky and Missoui ball games on TV and I doubt I'll get much tonight with the Super Bowl on.

I'm building a Dragon DAK Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.D

Like Wbill76 said in another threadthese wheels were a total of 118 parts and took a while to get them.

I got the suspension build this morning.

How the heck did those parts come out tan/sand color??  The model parts are in gray and have not been painted yet.

It's a Super kit with 1,200 parts but you don't have to use them all. You can build the Production Verson, the Add-on Armor Venson or the Tropical Verson. I'm building the Tropical Venson as a DAK in Libya in early 1942.

I got a little work done today but not much. I might have to quit a few days because there are some things I need to do, I just don't have a lot of time.

I just finished that kit.  What a beaut!  Most complicated, challenging kit I've ever built.  Check out the Blitzkrieg in the West GB for two examples of it.  Also, Bill's build log is a must.  I followed his instructions as they were way better than the kit instructions.  http://www.bpmodels.net/

Good luck and keep at it.  It is a long grind but well worth it.

Looks good, potchip.  The camoflague is striking.  Did you use a third party mask for it, build your own or, dare I say, hand paint it?

And, having just built my first ship model, I'm envious of the flags.  They look great.  I struggled at 1/350.  I'm jealous of your results with 1/700!

I'm still in this too, I've just been posting progress on the Bf 109 thread.  I switched to the Hasegawa F-2 still in Heinz Bar's markings for JG77, April 1942.

The cockpit OOB.

The only real fit problem was the lower left cowl.  A little styrene scrap and liquid glue fixed that up.

Primed, 76 on the bottoms and sides, Yellow on the underside cowl, and 75 on the tops.

I masked it yesterday, ready to add the 74.

No pictures so far but I have had some time this week to work on my spitfire.

Got the interior primed and made an attempt at an interior green.  Now I've started work with the photo etch details for the cockpit.  That stuff is tough to work with.  So far I've found it doesn't always want to sit still with CA, and if you use tweezers to hold the piece to file the schnibblys off then the tweezers may strip some painting details off.

It is a little challenging because I'm using the tamiya detail set for the airfix kit so the instructions are more vague guidelines since they don't quite line up.

Hopefully photos tonight.

I'm still here...got the Trumpeter 1/350 North Carolina waiting to go. Sprues washed yesterday, but I'm waiting on the Yankee Modelworks replacement turrets and PE set to arrive before I get started.

Also need to order some decals since I'm going to be doing not the Showboat, but BB-56 USS Washington in her late 1942 scheme. Need to depict the proper number + the insignia on the OS2Us

So here is the customary box art and sprue shot.  Not alot of pieces, but I've added the Eduard detail set though its for the Tamiya kit.  One thing I need to do soon is order the decals for it.  Even at 1/72, they are twice the cost of the kit it self.

Been working in the cockpit so far.  Trying to add the PE stuff which has been a pain, it is the first time working with it though.  I went with my own mix for the interior green.

Hi Bob, after a base royal grey, hand-painted most of the camou free hand  - had to expand to a new line of paint (mix of life color and vallajo) to accomplish this as my standard Tamiya acrylic for airbrush is not brushable.

Looking forward to the North Carolina.

An update on my Wildcat, construction is complete.  Got the undercarriage painted, and as soon as I get something to stuff in the cockpit, engine bay, landing gear bay, etc I'll be priming and painting.  I'll get some WIP pics later this morning!

Oh, and I'll be depicting the F4F-4 "White 18" flown by Howard Stanton Packard of VF-6 aboard USS Enterprise, August 1942.

Edit:  Pics!
