If I may thought I'd drop in and say:

GREAT WORK GUYS!!!!!

BTW Eric: You guys tempted me into picking up a Special Hobby 1/48 G.55 Centauro. Devil No time to fit her in now but if you decide to go to a full year GB I might have to toss her in sometime this summer or early fall.

TD - The Roma's looking fantastic! Love the camo, and for what it's worth, I vote for waterline. I'm getting ready to start the USS Washington once some aftermarket shows up, and I'll be putting it "in the water" so to speak myself...so yeah I'd love to see how you tackle it!

Fiat G.55 Update:

After what seems like forever, main construction is done! Had to do a bit of pre-painting and such with the various intakes on the underside, which slowed me down, but also gave me a chance to get a head start on the filling and sanding process. Hoping to be ready to prime by the end of the week. And I've got some crazy ideas for executing the camo scheme (pre-shading brown and orange, for one!).

So this past weekend finally tackled the running gear.  Carving the hubs out of the excess plastic wasn't too bad.  Most of it was done with sprue cutters followed with a fine file and sand paper.  Also made the decal to complete the license plate at the rear.

Sprayed a coat overall with grey green, then followed with light sand but just the sides facing outwards.

Rear view of the completed plate.  Also starting adding some light dust MiG powder.

regards,

Jack

I can't take the credit for the great aircraft Cliff, I can't take the credit for the great aircraft build that inspired your purchase, but I have done the same.

Ed, darn, I can't see the pics.

Jack, looking better all the time.

Not much to tell Doogs.I just kept brushing it over the tan till I liked the look.I had no idea it would work so well. The first coat gave me the impression I was wasting my time. One it started to dry,I changed my mind.

Thanks for that link to the live performance of Ectasy of Gold. I love that song and the lady really nailed it. If we didn't have such a great badge, I'd be tempted to switch to The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

Love the Ecstasy of Gold! Actually, love Ennio Morricone in general - not sure anybody caught it, but Tarantino got him to do the score for Inglourious Basterds (yet another reason to love that flick).

Fixed up the leading edge "dents" last night, reprimed that area, and shot my first colors - Gunze white, then yellow for the lower cowl and prop tips.

Thought the white was dusting really bad last night, but checked it this morning, and it's rock hard and glass smooth. Win!

I'm contemplating giving it tonight off to really cure, but next steps are masking off the yellow cowl and fuselage band and starting on the gray underside.

Ed, that base rocks!

Bsyamato, I thought I took some in progress, but perhaps not. I took a picture of the AM barrel next to the kit barrel. That was long ago......

I'll see if I can get something more current.

I have a bunch of Citadel paints that are 15 years old and are STILL as good now as the day I bought them. Not the case with the newer stuff.
