these gaps was after the cut of inside parts under the superstructure, or was even with a dry test fit ? (hope write corrrect )

The part I had to cut out didn't affect it.I did test fit it,but something screwed up afterwards.

Is it already glued down? If not perhaps you could shim the gap with some styrene?

Yes, it won't be too noticeable to the naked eye. when you zero in with a camera, it does stand out, but still isn't that bad.

Already I'm cursing my choice of paint and lack of some AM. Oh well, I'll get over it.

I sprayed my camo today and it stunk. It's not unusual for me to respray 2-3 times. Just disappointed, but it's not a big deal.

Epic masking session last night made ridiculous by 1) dealing with the "wrap-under" of the upper scheme colors to the leading edge of the wings and stabs and 2) running out of anything but 6mm or 40mm Tamiya tape.

All for some hurry up and wait, apparently. Alas.

Weather held out last night so I managed to get some painting in. Definitely need to do something to lighten and yellow the Tamiya Dark Yellow.

Question to the group. Lightening and yellow Tamiya Dark Yellow. Thinking of adding (obviously) Flat Yellow. Perhaps a dash of orange. Maybe Buff or Deck Tan to lighten? Feel like I'm going after a frustratingly elusive color...

The color callouts just say "Sand", frustratingly, but I believe it's Giallo Mimetico 4. Not striving for an exact match, but Tamiya's Dark Yellow is too dark and not yellow enough, so trying to work out ideas of what to mix in to kick it up to where it needs to be.

Doogs, I'd stay away from Deck Tan, might make it too brown. How about RLM 04 Gelb mixed in? Buff is worth a try. Just an opinion, but if you're after the yellow shade in the profile, there's a chance its not correct. I think in real life Giallo Mimetico 4 was closer to middlestone, thus being more of a sand color as opposed to the yellow in the profile anyway.

Tamiya doesn't do an RLM 04, but their Flat Yellow isn't far off. But yeah, I'm thinking adding yellow to, you know, make it yellower, and the Deck Tan/Buff/White as an option for making it a bit lighter.

The sand color in the profile is a bit off thanks to the awesome color metering of the iPhone. I've got a scan somewhere, but you can see a snippet of it printed out here - think this is closer.

Doogs you're right, that's a bright yellow in the profile. Its based off a real life scheme isn't it? If its based on GM4 its a little off, but whatever color u choose to use I can't wait to see it.

That's a wild scheme Doogs, but i'll bet that you can pull it off.

I can't either! Whatever comes of it, it'll be striking, that's for sure!

I'm also starting to get a bug up my *** to pick up another PCM G.55 with the torpedo conversion...

Craziest thing about this version? The complete reducting of the radiator from the centerline to the wings.

If sticking to Tamiya, to me that looks very close to their desert yellow with perhaps some yellow and white?

Thing is with their dark yellow, I always found it had a green or olive tinge to it.  If you mix in a brown or tan the result will have a grey tone to it, which may or may not be what you want. 

Why do I say grey?  Properties of primary colours - when you mix blue, red and yellow you will get black.  Dark yellow has yellow and blue already and when you add tan, brown or orange (all of which contain a percentage of red) the result will be a shade of black - a grey.

Doogs, if you think it is Giallo Mimetico 4, why not just purchase a bottle.  I know saving money on a paint colour you may never ever use again, but there is consideration of paint wasted in trying to mix your own.

Metal in the desert tends to take on a slightly burnished quality over time...I've heard of people using jet exhaust to good effect, since it has a very slight bronzish tint to it. 

Good question on the tracks Jack. I primed with black and dry brushed steel. After they are installed, I will add a burnt umber wash and finish off with pastels. I won't be adding any rust, because like you said, the sand should keep them from getting over rusted.

Repainted tonight. Yellow and white (surprisingly high ratios of each!) did the trick to de-brown the Dark Yellow.

Nice job Doogs. You captured the GM4 look really well. Definately better than the original dark yellow. You using Lacquer thinner with the tamiya?

Sorry for absence but right finished another kit and now workbench cleared from main projects, then here updates on the Veltro

Started engine section, the engine suppoert before drill/cut cure

and afetr the weight cure, the white stiyene parallelepiped was the engine draft ....

... before to turn into a new one in balsa wood as base

put on a layer of tamiya putty thinned in acrilyc thinner

The wood is really raw but less weighted than a styrene scratchbuild, will improve the surface with more putty and add gradually more pieces with evergreen sheets.

........This kit is full of trouble.....the top is at the end:the wings struts don't fit....they seem to be of another airplane,so to don't throw all in the rubbish I try to replicate them......not easy......Ciao Enrico
