All...BIG HUGE STEP last night. A bowling ball's worth of masking tape came off and main painting is done. Exceptionally happy with how this came out!

and a few with the black background. These colors are extra confounding to camera sensors, so you might see they look somewhat different against black.

All gluing now done (except for the commander's hatch and driver visor that broke off).  Now have to touch up some areas and add  dust to the lowers.

Last weekend was gorgeous and a record high. Today, blustry rainy weather. Yuck.

LOL, that was Austin over the weekend. High of 42 Friday, 48 Saturday, gusting wind, thunderstorms. Then it was 75 on Sunday and 80 yesterday. Texas weather is so weird.

Taking advantage of the dry spell to hammer ahead with the Fiat...redid the mix from Deep Green and Olive Green to Flat Green/Olive Green to lighten it up a bit. Was totally happy with this until I added some  Cockpit Green to mix up an interior shade for an N1K1 George I'm starting...the color was perfect. So on it went!

Red-brown goes on tonight.

Last night done some little work on the db605 and refined the supports.

Sorry for the lousy photo updates. The top half is not glued to the bottom hull, so I can attach the tracks easier. The color really isn't that color, though I wish it were.

I've grounded to bit of a halt. Got caught up in some honey-do's between job hunting. Now I have even bigger projects going on.

Ernest, I don't believe the two kits are related. My friend built both kits and said the Italeri version was more detailed. I bought my kit with the Italeri tracks in them. The seller pointed out that they are detailed on both sides. Apparently the Tamiya's weren't.

Me and the wife can't wait for season 2.

Enrico - simply gorgeous work!

Jack - most modern armor leaves me pretty cold, but I've always loved the Challenger. Like all great British design, it manages to be sleek and clunky at the same time. 

TD - All that work is definitely paying off, though!

Well, my weekend was mostly a wash. Friday it got cold and rainy. I can work when its in the low 40s outside, but it's really hard when it' been bracketed by lows in the mid-50s. That and the rain. So I watched some Game of Thrones instead.

Saturday, well, the SXSW interactive conference has taken over downtown Austin, and Saturday my company had its big party. It was a big hit, but ever since kid #2 alcohol really does a number on me. So I didn't even watch Game of Thrones.

Yesterday, the epic rain moved out, and clear, beautiful skies moved in. Masked and painted the green portions of the Fiat camo with a 50/50 of Tamiya Deep Green and Dark Green. Need to touch up in places tonight, and I'm tempted to perhaps lighten it with some regular green (or maybe a touch of Yellow Green)

Jack - Gotcha Mr Jack of all Builds!! OK, lame joke! Its so cool that many modelers build in different genres; me, I'm stuck on armor, mostly WW2, but I AM venturing out of my comfort zone this year!! Your Challenger and Spitfire are superb, thanks for sharing them with us!

Eric - Hey no probs on the pics, I just thought I missed them when I skimmed over several pages.  BTW, how is that Tamiya kit?  I have the Italeri kit...isn't the same except that Tamiya cleaned up the molds?

Both builds are very nicely done Jack. I like that finish on the Chally.

Ernest - this may sound like I'm putting myself down, but I guess I'm like the proverbial jack of all trades and master of nothing.  My build subjects stems from an interest in history so I don't confine myself to a certain category such as armour, aircraft or ships.  I would say WW2 is the subject I most often work in  followed with other periods before that, but a few times more modern stuff has piqued my interest. 

I just looked through the forums and one of my last armour pieces was done like nine years ago - whoa!  Well here it is, the British Challenger from Operation Telic:

I thought I posted in progress pictures Ernest, but alas I did not. I took a picture of the AM barrel next to the kit one. I think that's all I've posted.

I had to stop by and check things out here and BOY HOWDY there's some might fine work going on!! 

Jack - are you building a TANK?  I thought you worked mostly on WWI ragwings!!  BTW, it looks very nice, can't wait to see it done!  As for the tracks, sand was a factor, but if it was dry, then dust was the major weathering factor (from a modelling standpoint).  I'm assuming your depicting a vehile in N. Africa?  If so, tank crews usually avoided sand dunes and such, opting for firm packed dirt or rocky soil.  Any sand encountered would simply fall or blow off, but dust has that tendency to stick and mute most of the brownish/blackish/bronzish track color.  The sand (dirt, rocks too) would wear at the highpoints so some shiny metal would be visible, muted of course by the dust.  Bright rust isn't too common in dry areas so you're on the right track (hehe) there!

Eric - Somehow I missed the pics of your Tamiya Semovente.  Can you direct me to the page(s)?

um......soooo there's only TWO armor related vehicles entered?  Hmmmm.....................
