Hey All!

Just finished up the "Frogfoot"...

The empty pylons hold the Soviet version of our AGM`s, which I had looking pretty good until I dumped lacquer thinner on them...Bang Head. Overall I thought it to be a good kit. The fit was pretty nice, had to fill a reasonable amount of seams with CA and didn`t go crazy trying to get them perfect...the real thing was far from perfect from pics I`ve seen..lol. Comments are welcome and thanks for looking.

Completely missed the beginning of this...I had heard mention here and there of a second one, but it went under my radar.  But considering that I still have to put the finishing touches on my A-24 from the first one (tracking down decals), I think I'll have to sit this one out.

Just a head's up y'all... Sorry that I seem to be MIA a lot here, but the effin' REAL WORLD is interfering with my modeling time...

As some of you know, I took a second job as a Bail Enforcement Agent (Yeah, that's right.. Hammer the Bounty Hunter), and that's been calling me away far too often lately, due to a rash of skips and jumpers...

At any rate, I'll try to check in  more often, but alas, I don't have a Smart Phone, so I can't read in here during the stupidly long hours I spend waiting for a dirthead to show up at his mom's house, or pretend to drink a beer for four hours in some bar that even I don't get a warm fuzzy about...

Gotcha Tonka...  BTW, is the second kit listed as  "TBD" the TBD-1 Devastator kit or "To Be Determined"?

Tonka I built that one a few years ago its a fun one IMHO. Looking good so far, keep the pictures coming Yes

Don Hammer if you will allow me I would like to submit 2 pictures of the start of my first build. The 1/24 Monogram Pennzoil Sprint Car. I wont be building it as the Pennzoil car but this is the kit I am starting from, the only thing I will say at this time if you will allow, is It will be a non wing car.

First the box art.

This is the chassis, a lot of clean up work had to be done and I have decided to give it a very loud paint scheme. I figure I am a rookie building sprints so I will build a rookie type of car. Alot of rookies at Ascot used these bright colors on the cages to they could be seen easily by the seasoned drivers, they also carried a yellow flag on the back of the car.

Ya'll think this color is bright enough ??

Don Hans

Have been away for almost a year (Cell Block 12 didn't allow modeling), but back in game now (them stooges that ratted me out will need to pay!) and would like to join the build.

I'll submit my 1/48 Monogram-revell (old box) F4U Corsair I started for the Wild Wings build, only thing done is wings are glued.

Second kits TBD.

...I have an SBD that I may toss in as a dio after my 2 stated builds are done but I need to ask the Don if she is too far yet. The flaps are drilled, and the interior and pilots are painted, no real detailing work done on the interior ...

If there're more than half the parts still in the box (meaning that it's less than 50% assembled), she's ok by herself... If you put it on a diorama (not just a model on a land-scaped base mind you, but a diorama, complete with a viable story-line), then you're good to go, regardless of how many parts are still "in the box"...  If you do it as a diorama, whether land or carrier-based, then you can have less than half the parts remaining in the box... Clear as mud, right?

"READY TO RAIN FIRE ON THE VC". I'm guessing those are your words, and not the 4-year olds?

Speakin' of 4-year olds and mil-speak...

Reminds of the one, "Your Family May Be too Hoo-Ah If-"

-your newborn's fisrt words were "All OK Jumpmaster!"

and

Lookin' good, Len!

I've heard of the Soviets emulating design features of Western aircraft, but that has to be the first time I've seen them going for a design that lost out in a competition. Guess they figured building the one that lost saved on IFF issues over the battlefield...

I see where the diorama confusion came up now...

Those who complete TWO multi-kit dioramas in the allotted time will become

I meant to edit that unfinished sentence out before I hit "Post", since I'd re-written the ranks... Missed it it during the proof-read...

One kit completed will get you in as an Associate, two is how you get  "Made", same as the first MMGB....

Thanks for the clarity, Hans. I was afraid I'd was doomed to being a lowly foot soldier for my whole life...Stick out tongue

The way it is written, it reads like the ranking system is for dio-builders only. What do us schulbs who only build kits get? Are we forever consigned to be an "Associate" or can we, too, get made?

Sorry for the confusion, Brownie... Build two kits to get "made"..

Tonight when I stopped by the post office to check my box, the Do-17Z  was there. Guess the seller must have meant to send that message to a different buyer.

But anways, Once taking the kit out of the box it was still encased in the factory shrink wrap. A 40+year old kit that was < $20 with shipping and still had the original wrap and what looks like what is left of the original price take on it.  I just cant bring myself to open it thinking just how much it *might* be worth if I let it age another decade or two in a controlled environment

Hey Hans, would it be ok if we substituted the B-26 for this? Wink

Yesbbrowniii, your pilot is looking a bit Tom Cruisey.... WhistlingYes

Tom Cruise aint got nothing on this.........

I found this the other night cleaning out that old storage closet and found this buried in a back corner. Seems like I picked it up bewteen `82-`84 ish, though the box says it`s a 1973 kit.

With the name of " Flak Bait" and a plane that held the Allied record for most  sorties for a bomber ( 200+ )  You know it would take pilots made of calm nerves & steel to fly this thing... Here they are!

They`re bringing "sexy back" arent they? Big Smile

I thought I had seen these guys before, but couldnt place it.... then I remembered.....

Anyhoo.... was advised my  Monogram 1/72 Do-17Z is delayed in shipping and might need to do a substitution for that kit with the B-26... Will let everyone know

Yeah a bit of clarification seems in order. I am unsure if 2 dios = 5 kits or if 2 dios with more than one model = 5 kits.

I am glad to see already started models are being allowed as I have an SBD that I may toss in as a dio after my 2 stated builds are done but I need to ask the Don if she is too far yet. The flaps are drilled, and the interior and pilots are painted, no real detailing work done on the interior as I was doing this one as a painting exercise since it violates some of the stuff I hear about these birds from the pics I am working from.
