Thanks V-man! I'm actually more-or-less happy with MM Interior Green - at least as it goes down thinned over a black base. Don't recall the Green Zinc Chromate being so cool-toned though. Way too blue and minty-feeling for my taste! Much happier with the Gunze route.

Also - as of last night main assembly on the P-51 is done. Still have to mess with the Ultracast flaps and have a LOT of prep before paint (wing seam filling!), but it's getting there.

And the B-25's getting perilously close to fuselage close-up time. Still working on the aft gunner's position and need to figure out what I want to do about the dorsal turret - install it now or see if I can't wait.

Great work on the Jug Theuns, I do like your Alclad finish, which seems pretty flawless. It's a colourful and interesting airframe too, good choice of topic.

Thanks, guys. More pics of the Spit are posted over on the Spitfire GB thread. Now I'm moving on to the seaplane GB with a Monogram Kingfisher.

Began construction on my entry, but couldn't get too far...but what I did get completed looks pretty darn good!

The kit was bought second hand, so some of the pieces were already painted. Unfortunately the cockpit was all put together with no details painted! I snapped it apart and fixed that in little time

I added some wire details to the sidewalls, scratch-built harnesses, and added IP wires

this is how tiny the IP is: it fits on a dime!!

I had to stop here, because as I was preparing to wire-up the engine I noticed there was no propeller in the box!!! ACK! What use is a prop fighter if it doenst have a prop!? Construction on the Thunderbolt has ceased until I get a replacement propeller.....

Some progress on my F-86 with some tools of the trade. I can't work on her in sunlight, hurts the eyes to much!

I'm planning to use some Alclad on some of the difficult areas, where I think the foil will not look good, like those pesky slat acuators. Once the foiling is done I will start trying some techniques to give different shades to individual panels. had some encouraging results with household bleach.

I am planning to use an Eduard PSP(pierced steel planking) base to display the Sabre on and started working on it this weekend. Gave it a gloss black coating with Tamiya acrylic then Alclad stainless steel. Came out beautifully.

Then tried to give it a mud wash simulate the dirt underneath. When I wiped the wash of, my beautifull Alclad finish came of!!! I assume it is because I used an acrylic as a base coat instead of an enamel?

In a moment of madness I thought I would attempt to paint each individual little hole by hand, until I did a quick calculation on how may little holes there are. Only about 45000!  Guess I will need to redo the bugger with enamel. I love this hobby.

Stout - nice lookin' spitfire! Those exhausts look great in there!

miss owl - Love your attention to detail. That 'pit looks miles ahead of what the previous owner had done. Top-notch work! If you're not too concerned with accuracy, I have a spare spinner/prop from my Tamiya razorback that you're welcome to.

Roger - That foil is looking amazing! Never tried that stuff, but I may have to after seeing your results. Also, on the PSP plating for the base, you may want to try a true primer before any paint goes on. Great idea for a display base, though!

JR: Nice job there with the foil, super shiny work!

Not sure what happened on the PSP. You might try a coat of Future or Dullcote over it before the wash, depending on if the wash is oils/enamels or acylics.

Good patience on the BMF Roger. It's been worth it though.

anyway, Im doing 2 Tamiya 1/48 P-51D. im planning to do the paint scheme of the 361st FS 356th FG. they are now about 50% done (assyembled, minor filling/sanding to do, then paint, weathering etc)

I'll get some in prog pics up soon.

OWL:  Impressive work on the cockpit!

The P-38 is done!  Finally got a chance to finish it up and get pics.  I did the staining on the tops of the booms in a mix of testors Air Mobility Grey and Schokoladenbraun.  Modern pics show the staining to be a black-brown color, but that's probably a richer mixture and a lower lead fuel.

Nice finish on the 38 Capt ! It's a good lookin thing all round.

I have been offline for ages now... time to set that straight.... I have completed the Academy Bearcat slooooooowly but it's finished. Look for yerselves:

Great fun this kit but the average modeler will think it is a bit sparse on the detail so it would really pop with some PE or other add ons. Nevertheless it was good fun and i encountered little to no problems with it. Hope you guys like her!

Well...been out of the routine for the last week on a family road trip (and for some reason FSM threads aren't emailing me updates...need to look into that). Tonight was my first night back at the bench and I got the P-51 all primed up with Mr Surfacer 1200:

Need to wet-polish it, paint the white for the cowl, wing stripes and so on, and then it's on to NMF-ing the lower surfaces.

Great work Kermit, I want one just like that. Were they kit decals?

Thanks! This Academy bearcat is fully OOB so yes. The boxart actually shows just this aircraft but it also offers a blue US version.
