I built their Corsair, Tony and Thunderbolt back in the 80s. They were very good kits for their day. They were later released by Arii and Airfix. I think tere was about 10 kits in the range.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Hi Everyone,

Can I join with a Hasegawa 1/72 T-33 Shooting Star please ? The kit decals are for th Thunderbirds, but I'll probably change it up.

Cheers

Tony

I think we narrowed it down to terrestrial occurrences, so "shooting star" would not fit. But "Thunderbird" would. Wink

Always a good idea to listen to Mom. Yes

Here's the obligatory photo of the box, with an interested observer.

Right now, I'm studying on the pieces, since ships never seem to go together best in the way the instructions indicate.

Since I don't have any progress to post, here's a link to the Wisconsin River in action, nearly two years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hnqly_0jNY&feature=related

It doesn't do this often.  Four years ago, 2008, at the confluence of the Wisconsin River, Lake Delton, and Dells Creek, near Wisconsin Dells (the famous tourist resort), excessive rain caused the results shown in the link below.

Quite a force of nature.

Last, a photo of the river taken last week, when things were more placid.

Looking forward to this build.

Is it me, or is your russel getting ready to take your hand off if you so much as try and touch that kit. I think he/she wants to build it instead.

Yeah I was thinking he was guarding your stash too!

I pulled the Viggen out of the box and began shoveling Mr. Surfacer into the zillion and one injection pin holes in the kit. Currently working on about a dozen subjects so I may be going a little slow at first but I am moving at least.

He does suffer from a case of possession aggression, not uncommon among the JRT community.

Ye, tell me about it. My mum used to have one. I recognised the look. That lifting the lips up into a snarl.

I'm not a big dog lover, but jack Russels are nice.

Maybe there is room for a 'Celestial' GB some time in the future...Shooting Star, Starfighter, Neptune, Meteor, rising sun, Starfire, there must be millions of them.

I'm not sure that I'll continue with this one or change it to something else. I did have some Canadian Silver Shark decals that I had earmarked for this build, the kit decals are a bit too yellow to use given the amount of white that shows.

Leave it for now, I might see what I  can find in the way of aftermarket decals, or else change to a Hurricane or something. Either way, I'll build something for it.

Cheers

Hey guys, dropping by to show my latest...

Its a tiny cockpit in 1/72 scale but the detail is pretty good OOB. Hope the black wash and white drybrushing are showing a little.

Having good fun sofarBig SmileYes

Here's an update on my Mirage.  No real issues to speak of.  Had some fit problems getting the cockpit to fit right, seems the IP and control stick wanted to occupy the same space.  The trick to this kit is getting the nosewheel bay to align properly.  The rear bulkhead of the cockpit is the fore bulkhead of the nose gear well and it has to marry up perfectly with the lower wing.  This took some dancing but nothing major.  There was some warping on the upper fuselage that required some sprue shims to get things to line up.  Since this is going to be a NMF bird I have to check every seam and pit with Mr Surfacer since NMF gives you nothing to hide behind. That's the reason for all the gray splotches

I'm going to settle on the Academy 1/72 Hawker Tempest Mk V with Airwaves P/E set. Not sure which scheme I'll go for yet.

Taxtp,

Very interesting subject and seldom seen on FSM. Love your choice! Very much looking forward to your take on this model.

OWl,

Miss Host,.... if you would be ok with it i would like to add a 1:72 scale RoG Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc to my current build. I picked up this little box this afternoon and will start on her as soon as i have layered the first coat on my british Hurricane, hopefully tonight.

The joining of the fuselage, adding wings and taking care of the seams are all done on the Thunderbolt. took me just two evenings... I will try to add a pre paintbooth pic or two soonWink I must say that i am quite pleased with the Academy offering sofar. Just a fun and no fuss model. Still prefer the RoG one though even though it has more flash on the mold, i like the lines just a little bit better on that one.

Edit,

Woops,.... i meant that i was hitting the paintbooth with the Thunderbolt, not a hurricane; thats the new one im doing...Embarrassed

A couple of pics of this weeks progress. Managed to get the fuselage together. Still got a bit of sanding to do along the top seam. I have added the canopy, which once again is a pain in the butt. But i didn't get any pics of that as it was a bit late in the week.

Hopefully by next week i will have some paint on, i really need to get a move on with this.

Thanks, i am doing it in the Falklands scheme. Its exactly the same one i did for the Falklands GB, i am sure you can remeber it, but just in case.

The only difference this time round is that there will only be the Falklands falg on the base. The guy i am doing it for had a relative who fought during the campaign.

Well-done cockpit, Stu.  It must have taken quite a bit of time to accomplish that.

Bish, that's a great-looking helicopter.  Really sharp looking.
