Awesome!, this is my first GB. I am currently working on revell's 1:32 arado. I'm building it oob and enjoying every second. I am in the decal/finishing/weathering phase but have taken plenty of pictures

along the way. I'll post them when I have time/figure out how to do it. Thanks for picking this up.

You're welcome.  Looking forward to the pictures.  Smile

i'm in, especially with the extension. not sure what i am going to build but i know a couple folks want to see the italian CANT Z-501.  may do a BOEING 314. since i have a few in the stash. let me finish 3 partials to clear of some work benches and decide.

Cool.  I'll list you as a TBA on the lineup card until you decide.

Well, I have several other builds going on at the same time, but I think I can squeeze in my Japanese seaplane at some point. This will be my first biplane by the way, any helpful tips?

Actually, my next biplane will be my first, so - any helpful hints out there?  LOL.  It's in another GB, a Grumman Duck, and I haven't started it yet.  So, I'll be following your build with much interest.  Please post photos and share your problems/solutions.  I'm wondering about how to do the wires between the wings, personally.

Floatplane/Seaplane Group Build 2012
Posted by Old Ordie on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 8:06 PM

Hi all,

DoogsATX has graciously offered to let me take over maintenance of his Floatie thingie/Seaplane GB, as he isn't presently able to give it the time he thinks it deserves.  I love seaplanes - all of them.  If a man or woman can fly it to and from the surface of the water, it's cool, and more than cool with me.  Thanks, Doogs!  I won't let you down.

I decided to start a new thread so I might better maintain the top post or two.  I'm changing the name a little, to the Floatplane/Seaplane Group Build 2012, so as to help keep things straight with the earlier thread.  Also, the time limit is extended to 12/31/12.  Edit - The time limit has been extended once more to 1/31/13 - end Edit.  All builds should be completed by then.

This group build is limited to:  floatplanes, seaplanes, catapault planes (with floats!) and amphibians of all types, military and civilian, and of all eras.  It must be a plane that actually existed and flew at some point in history.  It must have been capable of taking off from, and landing in the water.  Reasonable "what ifs" will be considered - run it by me.  I don't know, at this moment, what a reasonable "what if" is, exactly, but I'll know it when I see it.

Everyone who was in the Floatie Thingie/Seaplane GB is automatically a legacy member of this one, if they want to continue.  Whatever you were building, whatever its completion status, is still your build.  Please post photos and keep us updated.  Please take the badge/banner below for your signature line (if you don't finish, give it back!).

New members are welcome to join anytime.  Your build must be no more than 40% finished when you join.  Please, no doubles.  Just declare yourself and your kit, and your in.

OK, everybody, let's make this fun!  Big Smile

I'm always open for questions/comments/suggestions.

Thanks,
Ordie
