just make a gif here
I'm thinkin' about post a ''Mig Alley GB'' sometime this spring.
stikpusher Sounds good to me. The fuel tanks in the kit are not the proper size? If the rocket pods are the 19 shot type, I suggest getting the Hasegawa weapons set

The correct pod is the XM-157 7 shot 2.75 FFAR rocket pod as used on UH-1 gun ships.
Here's a Misty, 56-3882 in fact, with a good overall view of the pods and the tanks. Even has his brake down, which is notched for stores even though they didn't load them in the center.
Cobra Co. makes a nice set.
I might pick up an Italeri 1/72 Hun tommorow. Or maybe A Revell Monogram 1/48 Crusader or Hun.
The Italeri is the old ESCI. Good enough, but not the best. For that, get a Trumpeter.
Also, no need to model so fast.
I know I just really enjoy it.
taxtp I'm in with Academy's 1/72 A-37 Dragonfly. Cheers Tony

Tony - Tasty pick! I do admire those who get "... down there amongst them".
All - Wow ... Miss a couple of days, miss a whole lot in this group build.
Flight deck: Hasegawa 1:48 P-40E; Tamiya 1:48 A6M2 N Type 2 ('Rufe')
Elevators: Airfix 1:72 Grumman Duck; AM 1:72 F-4J
Ok so I decided on a Monogram 1/48 A-4 Skyhawk flow by John S. Mccain III, 1967...
That is a fun kit pilot. I think you will like it.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Do you know a reference to the avionic pack v.s the ''small fairing''?
The hump on the back? That was a fairing that contained ECM and other electronic gear. It was introduced and became standard on the A-4F, (I want to say around 1968) but was retrofitted to earlier surviving Skyhawks as well. It was also removed from certain later model Skyhawks in special roles such as Top Gun and Blue Angels.
This site has lots of great info and then some on the A-4

I am in several gbs now so i might have to skip but i recently got an F-111 1/72 by airfix in 1976 colours. Could i enter this eventually?
hmmm... is it USAF? If so then, I guess so! Thanks stik

thanks! raised detail?
Yep raised detail! She's a beuaty!
phantom's looking good.
Thanks! I have gloss on her now
found some more nam birds in the stash. hmmm...may throw in the scooter also.
Looks great professor; the gap on the top wasn't as hard for me... this time though! I guess I got lucky Is my work terrible or normal or just coming along?
Professor, your F-4 looks like it is coming along just fine. Nice to see how you overcome those speed bump seams.
Bondo, that is a nice little 'Nam stash there. I have those same Spad and Scooter kits and the Monogram issue of the Tweety Bird.... One day I will get me the F-100F...
Just a quick peek at my latest work on my Hun... Most of the decals put on tonite... I just have a few stencils and warning stripes left to do...
It looks great!

My 'Nam stash is a closely held secret.
Hint for a possible next build: VP-48
Very well done Hun, son.
Funny thing that the AF still used the refueling probe. Your F-104 was the same way.
Phantoms are coming along too.
Bondo tip: For you guys who worry about the various blade antennas on the mating halves of your a/c: cut them off beforehand and stick them in a baggie. Glue them back on at the last minute before she goes off to the paint shop.

I wont say a word about it again... my clearance may have expired but I can still keep a secret
Thanks about my Hun. I think the markings really make this bird in NMF/Aluminum Lacquer. Yes, the Air Force used the probe and drogue refueling method thru much of the Century Series. And that method went back all t way to the F-84E Thunderjet in the Korean War!!! The Thud could actually 'swing both ways', having both a retractable probe and a boom recepticle...
The "outtie"
and the "innie"
Hey BTW I've got a couple of books regarding Paratroop activity in Vietnam in the '50's.
101 was very involved in 1968. Ever model that?
I did some figures as 101 in Vietnam way back when.... And the Dragon LRRP set when it was new. But Masterbox has several new sets out or coming out that have my eye...
thats one beautiful Hun.
Yep she sure does like to give us a hard time but it's worth it in the end.
