Hey John, If I may, I suggest Tamiya XF-69 NATO Black for tire colors. You'll find that myself and many others find this to be an excellent rubber color.

John - Wow, The work you have done on your A-3 is simply chioce. That is a beautiful build. It looks like you are off to a fine start om your A-8 also. Do you mind sharing what kind of paint you are using along with which airbrush your using.

Joe,
I'm using model master on this one.  I also use a Paashe H AB with a fine tip needle.  I ran into some

problems when I decided to use humbrol number 32 Dk Gray for the wheels as I think the gray looks better than black for the rubber and the Testers "rubber" color paint is starting to look too brown.

But anyway I had a issue of the humbrol staying sticky over the Tamiya spray on gray primer,  Never used Humbrol before so I don't have any idea what it does and doesn't react too.

It's the OOB decals,  it's very similar to the A-3 I just posted but without the eagles head.    Unless I find something different at mt LHS tonight for a A-8

That A3 looks fantastic John!!! The progress on the A8 is moving right along smoothly it appears, you'll have it in the paint booth in no time. You may have already posted it, but what scheme are you planning on for it?

Well here's some progress update pictures of 109A-3 I'm finishing that unfortunately is not really a part of this build cuz I started it before I found out about this build.

Almost finished, just the antenna, tail wheel and the LG retraction struts.   Enjoy the pics

Thanks John.  The ole memory isn't quite the same anymore. Heck, It's one thing when I have to write myself a note everyday with a list of things to remember each day. Quite another when I have to write a note to remind myself that I have a note with what I have to do each day. I am Post-it dependent.

Joe - It's going to be great watching you build the D-9. Concerning the landing gear, did you check out that link I sent John (I think it was John) about the issues with the landing gear on the Tamiya, DML and Tri Master kit.

Greg - That is the absolute joy of building with the folks here. The amount one learns here is amazing. This leads me to point out to you that our modeling addiction can have certain side effects. I, for one, suffer from the inability to stop buying reference books. I LOVE reference books. I have at least 5 or more books on each kit/subject I have in my stash. Given that I have 70+ kits that means I have, well, you can do the math. This not counting just the general subject and history I have. So, fair warning that you may need to account also for the space required to accomodate one's book stash. That reminds me, I have to share later my latest addition on FW 190s.

Yes it was me you sent the landing gear link to.  very helpful!

Clemens, I do indeed have a couple of excellent reference books for the P-47. I'll see what I can do for you.

Joe (Mustang), not at all! I truly know almost nothing about aviation history, or much about any non-civilian aircraft. Certainly no need to apologise, my friend. You didn't imply anything!

Joe (Rix), agreed 100%! I wonder if I might someday become a reference book buyer and super-attentive to details. Time will tell!!! (I think if reference books starting coming in along with the occasional sneaked-in kit (not to mention not-sneaked in paint, tools, miscellany) my partner might have her first fit. :)

I couple months back when I started exploring here (beyond reading posts from my googled questions) and thought about joining, I had no idea what a group build was. Now, almost done with my first, almost can't imagine building a kit on my own. The knowledge here amazes me more every day.

Joe (Rix): Do you have some references for the P-47 as well? Could you do me a favour and look something up for me? There is a panel line on the Tamiya kit, which runs from the rear of the engine cowling to the windscreen. I only have 2 reference books at all, both on the Jug (2 Squadron books), but there is no picture showing this area in both of them. The drawings in those books shhow the panel line starting further back (starting at the windscreen as well, but not extending to the cowling flaps). I don' t know if I should rescribe the area (i removed it while sanding down the joint between the fuse halves) or not... I hope you can help me out.

Thats a good kit Joe, and with the upgrade goodies it will be killer!

Its definitely gonna be alot easier than this Eduard. You guys building all these D-9s got me stirred up enough to do one.

Well shoot yeah!!!! 109's and 190's were the backbone and workhorses of the Luftwaffe you know.

Actually, I am only just beginning to learn this sort of thing. And I'm learning a lot from my new friends here, both about building and about history, and other stuff!

And enjoying every minute of it, I might add.....

Ooh, Aires goodies!!!

I'm looking forward to that one for sure. I am thinking of ordering another 190 together with one of those engine sets, but I have to save some money for other kits *cough* HK B-17 *cough* ZM Ta 152 *cough* Tamiya Corsair *cough*...

Well everybody. I'm currently working on the cowl guns after painting, weathering and installing the cowl ammo cooling pipes. It won't be too awful long that I'll be finishing this one up. Maybe another month at this pace. Anyhow I have the next kit lined up right after I complete a Dauntless build with my kiddo. I'm going with the Tamiya D-9 offering in 1/48 scale with an Aires detail set and a CMK undercarraige set. Still have to get some barrels and masks but will be aquiring those in the future. Going to have to correct the landing gear struts and doors also as they are too short.

Clemen's,

I'm glad you have that chair,  it would hurt your back to pick it up and move it every time you need to move on to the next build.

I really like the tan 190, is that from africa?  Oh no! now I'll have to do one for that theater!Surprise

I hope you have your chair mounted on wheels or better yet a track so you can slide from one model to the next with just a push from your foot. Propeller

What schemes do you have planned out Clemens? I am planning on building my D-9 pretty soon but I really don't have a scheme picked out ytet. I was kicking some around but do realize that alot of D-9s looked like crap just due to the fact that they weren't sheltered much.
