Those seatbelts look awesome, Mike! I really hate using PE belts but you are doing one hell of a job on them!

Joe Rix and Greg -- many thanks, guys, good to be here. I surprised myself a bit putting them together, though I couldn't imagine doing it at a smaller scale. I have a lineup of 1:32 Bf 109s in the stash, so I guess they'll all get the same treatment!

I'll be waiting for the hot weather to go by before I paint, the plan is to use MM Acryls, which really tip dry and heat makes that untenable, I've not used them on a project so large before, we'll see how often I need to clean the AB in the process.

Yep the BL did a good job on those shots -- the grainy, textured background is in fact a sheet of white bond paper, the closeup is that tight!

Updates as they occur,

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Mustang Joe, thanks for 'splaining the two section build further. Makes sense now, amigo.

Mike, never seen Eduard PE belts in 1/32nd 'til now, cool! Tell your BIL nice job on his macro work. And nice job to you for getting them together so neatly.

Cheers, guys! Well, I'll study up attaching the belts, check I've got the seat cushion acceptable -- khaki was the kit callout but I notice many folks are using leather brown. I also have some Eduard instrument placards, I'll check out how they'll look in the pit too, and just maybe see if I can fold up some rudder pedals too. Then I can finally get this plane together into one assembly.

Hi guys, I signed up way back to complete my Hasegawa A-8 in 1:32, and I have finally, at long, long last, made some progress. The Eduard harness went together today and was not quite as difficult as I expected (of course attaching it the seat will be a whole other ballgame!)

Here's the work:

It's amazing to see the fabric effect in the printing on the steel -- quite invisible without the super-macro effect (many thanks to my bro in law for the photos!)

Well, if I can get them attached to the seat, I'll be ready to close the fuselage and bring the animal together!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Thank You Very Much Guys. The compliments are appreciated. You know, given the quality and quantity of the kudos you folks extend it makes me wonder one thing...Just what exactly do you put in your coffee in the morning?Wink

Joe: Great stuff man! I forgot about all the hatch and panel work you still have to do so, I'm sorry about putting the hurry on you. Take your time and show us that sweet action your able to do.

Clemens, Doug and Greg:Thanks a mil guys. Working on the cowl guns and engine paneling right now. Greg, the advantage of doing that for me is to not have to mask all around such a delicate part of the build while I'm priming, painting and decaling. Too much can go wrong while I'm flipping the bird upside down and all around during the painting process. There's not a whole lot of touch up to do either as I have test fit this thing to death up front. It's gonna go together like it was made to I can assure you of that. Already did all the cutting and trimming that I needed in the test fit stage.

That is one slick looking scheme, Joe. Great work!

Can you explain to this rookie the advantage of the nose section being done last? What happens when you join them, much touching up around the join? TIA, my friend.

Here we go fellas. Section 1 is now complete minus the aerial antenna! Here she is in the display case waiting for Section 2 to be completed. I started on Section 2 this morning building the cowl guns up and cutting all of the access panels from the resin blocks.

Here's Section 1 as she sits in the case:

And looking back one page....

John, I love your 1/72 Airfix. Wonderful work, and in 1/72nd. <tipping my hat to you>

JJ, really like your camo, what a cool scheme and very well carried out.

Hey Joe! I was trying to comment on this this morning but my computer wasn't cooperating very well. All that detail just makes the camoflage really stand out. You nailed it pal!

I'm getting closer. Still have to finish weathering the bombs, attach landing gear doors, complete rigging of antenna and some touch up painting and weathering. I regret the quality of my photo but, for some reason my camera is not cooperating tonight.

How many do I have? Let me have a look at my stash:

  • Hasegawa A-5
  • Hasegawa F-8 w/ Bombentorpedo
  • Hasegawa F-8
  • Hasegawa A-8 w/ Hagelkorn
  • Tamiya F-8
  • Eduard Grünherz combo (enough stuff to build 2 190s going from A-5 to A-8)
  • Eduard A-8
  • Eduard A8/R2
  • Eduard A-8/R2 (yes, I have 2 of them)
  • Eduard D-9 (weekend)
  • Eduard Jv-44 combo (D-9 and D-11)
  • Eduard D-13
  • Dragon Ta 152 C-0
  • Hasegawa A-8 (1/32)
  • Zoukei-Mura Ta 152 (1/32)

I'll add another big 190 to my stash soon: Hasegawa's D-9 in 1/32.

That's 17 190s in total... I think I have every 190 kit I want to have in my stash now (except the Hasegawa Dora)

Mustang: ya 16  I did pick up that Hasegawa 1/72 combo last night.  It's all cuz Clemen's is my hero!Bow Down How many 190's does he have? Whistling

Not sure if this is what I'll start after the 1/48 A-7 Snake head.  I've got a Dragon with the striped nose decals that I may pull out.

Jug:  that D-9 looks great.  makes me want to get one,  I don't believe I have any D-9's in my stash

John

On the Bench: 1/72 Ki-67, 1/48 T-38

falconmod:Dang John! 16 190's?? Can't wait to see whats next after the A-7 and glad to have you back around building another good lookin' bird!

Joe Rix:Any luck on finding that tailwheel?

JJ:What a friggin job!! Your free hand camo skills are really showing here. I'm still using the silly putty as Joe had mentioned but I'm finding that I go back over it again with the silly putty off to make the soft edges. I guess its kind of like tracing the lines with an AB. Nice paint finish!!!

Greg:Good to have you back among the team here!

J.J.: Oh Man, That's looking great. I can't wait to see it all weathered up.

Fantacmet: I haven't quite mastered freehanding with my airbrush yet. I mask my camo patterns with Silly Putty.

Did you freehand that camo?  I'll be freehanding mine.  Just curious how many people freehand their camo.
