Len, sorry to hear about that. I didn't realise salt Water would damage PE like that. Was it in the water for very long.

TREY, that looks like a nice detail set. I am a big fan of metal barrels, I use master one for my 72nd builds. Those RB barrels look really nice, they don't do 72nd aircraft barrels but I have used a few of their 35th armour ones and they are really nice.

What did you use for the barrels on the nose turret.

Bish thanks !

Len really a shame you lost all those resin goodies, although I know thats small change compared to all the other damage. Hope things are getting back to some normalcy for you. I'm going to button it all up,but will be adding some fibre optic interior lighting and opening up all the hatches. Looking forward to seeing your shadow box idea ,cheers!

Schattenspartan thank you!

I'm moving aft again with the gun turret assemblies and the other side mounted 50's. Ordered a Verlinden set to upgrade it a bit

Also some brass barrels. These are really nicely made and are quite impressive considering how tiny those cooling jackets are!

Trey.....That looks awesome! I have the "visible" kit and was planning on super detailing it...had all the PE and was working on resin when the hurricane hit. The salt water destroyed 99% of the PE...just turned it into brittle junk.  Anyway, when  I do mine I was thinking about a shadow box because, even though the port fuse` is clear, you still won`t be able to see everything. Either that or a cutaway in a diorama....just hate to do all that work and close it up. Are you planning something similar?

The sights are mounted, almost forgot to put the windows in before hand! I had to do some fine sanding to get the windows in place due to the resin, the gun window had to be razor sawed apart to fit.

Great now I need one of those! Not really but can't resist B-17s, especially one that big! Resistance is futile.

So my question is this, when's the release date? Well, that's too long.

Great work there TREY as always. The pit is coming along very nicely. Now where do you keep disappearing to.

Clemens, that looks a beaut, but a bit to big for my liking. I think I will stick to my Academy kits.

Thats a nice looking fortress, Trey!

I want to build one so badly, but it seems like the Revell kit needs some major improvements. I'll just wait untill the big one from HK-Models comes out... Stick out tongue

Cheers, Clemens

I don't know, Bish

The owner of my local store just got a message that there are some problems with the availability of this kit and he won't recieve it this month. And the next order he will place will be in June so it wont get here before the end of June.

But I have a lot of other birds to build untill it arrives so I'll be busy anyways.

A lot of nice looking models here!

I have to join this one as well (those GBs are addicting as hell)

I'll build a B-25D Mitchell. It's the AM kit reboxed by Academy. It says B-25G on the box, but you can build a B, C, D or G model out of it.

As far as markings go, I'm most likely going for a rather unconventional nose-art:

A B-25D called "Yankee Warrior". It is stationed at the "Yankee Air Museum".

You can look up it's story here: http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/b25flightse_2.htm

I'm afraid I wont be able to replicate the Waist guns on my model, as they aren't supplied in the kit...

Awesome job on the tail wheel! Don't forget the wood planks used for the floor in the waist area

Thanks gents.

Was fun - I have just a couple of regrets:

1.  I could not find a definitive reference for this aircraft as to the alignment of the Yagi radar in the nose - I went with vertical, cos I thought it looked best.  If it ever gets snapped off, I might change my mind :)

2.  I prefer painting on the identity stripes.  This caused me two problems.  Firstly, I didn't consult my reference material (i.e. the Tamiya instructions!!), so blindly masked up, and painted standard fighter stripes first.  Only to THEN see that these were too narrow.  So out with the stripper, sandpaper, etc, and repaint / remask /repaint.  Lesson learnt!!  But the one thing I did not go back to fix, is that I did not allow for the faint register of the while on the side roundels.  So the black does sorta show though, if you look closely.  So memo to self - make sure I leave mask off white for under the roundels next time!!

OK all ... despite my silence, I have (FINALLY) been able to finish my Beaufighter.

Sorry there were no "Work In Progress" pics.  Painted using predominantly Tamiya colours (scheme was easy - Med Sea Grey and Sky!!).  Decals are aftermarket.  Otherwise built out of the box.

So its a Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter, done to represent a 489(NZ) Squadron aircraft - part of the Banff Wing. As a Kiwi, this aircraft goes towards a representative "squadron" to represent the seven NZ squadrons serving in the RAF during WWII.   So now have completed 485 (Spitfire Mk XVI), 486 (Tempest), 487 (Mosquito), 488 (the Singapore edition - so a Buffalo), and 489 (the above).  That just leaves 75 and 490 (Wellington and Sunderland respectively).  Those two are going to have to wait until I have a LOT of space to display!! :)

I hope you enjoy ...
